Philippine de Rothschild, a scion of the vaunted winemaking family who helped modernize and expand a renowned wine-producing enterprise that sells 22 million bottles annually, died on Saturday in Paris. She was 80.
Her company, Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA, announced the death, attributing it to “complications from surgery,” which the company did not describe.

Baron Philippe de Rothschild, her father, took over the Château Mouton Rothschild estate in 1922 and lifted it into the first rank of Bordeaux chateaus. The official French rating classified Mouton in the second tier, and the baron was determined to join the four chateaus designated as premier: Haut-Brion, Lafite Rothschild, Margaux and Latour. In 1973 the baron succeeded, and put a new label on his bottles: “I am first, I was second.”

When the baron died in 1988, Baroness Philippine became the first woman in five generations to lead Mouton. She followed her father’s path, but in her own way.

The baron had begun a tradition in 1945 of commissioning prominent artists like Salvador Dalí and Andy Warhol to design the label every year. The baroness did the same and in 1990 approached the English painter Francis Bacon to ask if she could use a painting of a nude that her father had rejected. Mr. Bacon asked what had changed.
“I’m not my father,” she answered.

Madame de Rothschild, as she preferred to be called, achieved the status of grande dame in the wine universe — or simply “the Baroness.” She modernized and diversified her estate’s production, and formed a partnership in Chile to create Almaviva wines.
As chairwoman and the major shareholder of the company, she introduced a second wine to Mouton’s production, Le Petit Mouton. She also increased production of the estate’s cash cow, Mouton Cadet, the world’s most successful Bordeaux brand.
Madame de Rothschild brought the verve of a professional actress, which she had been, and perfect English and French to promoting her products at public events. “Philippine was a bright and enduring star,” Marvin R. Shanken, editor and publisher of Wine Spectator magazine, said in his publication.

Philippine Mathilde Camille de Rothschild was born on Nov. 22, 1933, in Paris. After France fell to the Germans in World War II, her father went to London to help organize the French Resistance and urged his wife, Elisabeth, to accompany him. She declined, thinking that since she and her daughter were Roman Catholic, she would be safe in France.

Despite having married into a Jewish family, “she did not grasp that anyone connected with the Rothschilds was in danger from the Nazis,” Derek Wilson wrote in his 1988 book, “Rothschild: The Wealth and Power of a Dynasty.”
In June 1944, Gestapo agents arrived at the Rothschild home and took Elisabeth to the Ravensbrück concentration camp, where she died. A Gestapo officer ordered that Philippine not be taken because he said he “had a kid the same age back home,” Mr. Wilson wrote.

Madame de Rothschild graduated from the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique in Paris and went on to act in the Comédie-Française and elsewhere on the theater circuit. Her stage name was Philippine Pascal. (Her father had also used the last name Pascal when he acted.) She married a director at the Comédie-Française, Jacques Sereys, whom she later divorced.
Madame de Rothschild — is survived by her second husband, Jean-Pierre de Beaumarchais; her sons, Philippe and Julien; her daughter, Camille; and several grandchildren.

For the 2004 vintage, Madame de Rothschild asked Prince Charles of Britain, an avid painter of watercolors, to do the label. She paid him with bottles of wine.

The manifesto, which one official described as "astronomically dangerous," was originally to set for release in May, until the Nashville Police Department (MNPD) reversed course, and said it would be released 'soon.'

One week after the stonewalling began, the National Police Association (NPA) joined the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County in suing for all records related to the March 27 shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville.

“We have asked for any manifestos, emails, and any communications related to the case,” Betsy Brantner Smith, spokesperson for the National Police Association, told The Epoch Times.

Tennessee resident Clata Renee Brewer working with the NPA, filed the lawsuit on May 5. Theirs is at least the second lawsuit filed over the shooting.

The FBI also denied a request for Hale's manifesto.

Update (1740ET): The Metropolitan Nashville Police Department (MNPD) said Monday that the three images included with the alleged first three pages of the Christian Covenant School shooter’s manifesto are not "crime scene images," the Daily Caller reports.

Conservative political commentator Steven Crowder posted photographs of three pages which he alleged are part of a manifesto written by the now-deceased Audrey Hale, who killed six people inside the Covenant School with a firearm in Nashville, Tennessee, back in March. An officer killed Hale as she continued opening fire on the second floor of the building.

“The MNPD is in communication with the Metropolitan Department of Law as an investigation, begun this morning, continues into the dissemination of three photographs of writings during an on-line discussion about Covenant School. The photographs are not MNPD crime scene images,” the statement reads.

Authorities confirmed they discovered a manifesto written by Hale in which she had allegedly planned the attack for several weeks. Following the shooting, authorities obtained the manifesto, which is under an ongoing investigation by the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). -Daily Caller

Report: Witness Tried To Save Obama Chef Before Drowning Accident
The unnamed witness said Tafari Campbell lost his balance on a paddleboard, fell into the water and was unable to find his bearing.

Tafari Campbell, the Obamas’ personal chef who drowned near their Martha’s Vineyard estate, was paddleboarding with another person who tried to rescue him, MassLive.com reports.

According to the unnamed witness, Campbell was standing on his paddle board before losing his balance and falling into the water. After swimming to shore, the witness explained what happened to another bystander and 911 was called, the report read.

In his last moments, Campbell struggled to stay above water. He was not wearing a life jacket and was not leashed to the paddleboard at the time of his death.

After rescue teams were deployed that included divers and flight and boat crews, Campbell’s body was recovered on Monday (July 24) from Edgartown Great Pond “at approximately 100 feet from shore at a depth of about eight feet.”

Massachusetts State Police also confirmed in a statement that another paddleboarder attempted to save Campbell but “did not reach him in time.”

“The other paddleboarder then swam to shore and notified a person on shore of what had happened,” the statement read.

“That person placed a 911 call to the Dukes County Regional Emergency Communications Center, which initiated an immediate emergency search and rescue response by numerous public safety agencies,” the statement continued.

Following an autopsy, no evidence was discovered to suggest that the death was suspicious, and “no trauma or injuries were found on Campbell’s body,” the MSP said.

The Obamas expressed their grief at the sudden death of Campbell who worked as a sous chef during their time in the White House. He became the family’s personal chef at the end of President Barack Obama’s two-term presidency.

“In the years that followed, we got to know him as a warm, fun, extraordinarily kind person who made all of our lives a little brighter,” the Obamas said in a statement. “That’s why, when we were getting ready to leave the White House, we asked Tafari to stay with us, and he generously agreed. He’s been part of our lives ever since, and our hearts are broken that he’s gone.

“Today we join everyone who knew and loved Tafari — especially his wife Sherise and their twin boys, Xavier and Savin — in grieving the loss of a truly wonderful man.”

In France a new law called ‘The Pfizer Amendment’ is seeking to criminalise critics of Pfizer mRNA Technology with up to 1 year in prison or $15,000 fine.

People are sharing articles and/or a screenshot on X (formerly Twitter), which appears to show that France just passed a new “Article Pfizer” law to ban and criminalise any criticism of mRNA vaccines!
Dr. Kat Lindley : France: any criticism of mRNA platform punishable with up to 3 years imprisonment and 45,000 euros.
“Article 4 is central to the new law, which was first deleted but then reinstated. This creates a new criminal offense and criminalizes the “ request to stop or refrain from therapeutic or prophylactic medical treatment” as well as “the request to use practices that are presented as therapeutic or prophylactic ”. This means that any resistance to mRNA treatment (and other corporate medical methods) can be criminalized in the future.”

According to the law, which was passed quietly and secretly through the French parliament on Wednesday, advisement against mRNA or other treatments which are deemed ‘suitable’ based on current ‘medical knowledge’ can lead to a 3 year prison sentence and up to a $48,400 fine.

⁣Diddy lawsuit exposing the Jeffrey Epstein of the music industry overview video [from February 29, 2024].

This goes back before most of us were born, goes all the way up to intelligence agencies, directly alleges whole houses wired with hidden cameras hosting parties with underage girls, spiked drinks and more.

Record producer, sometime-actor and Sean Jean clothing line founder Diddy, aka Sean Combs, has just plunked down $39 million on a brand new, 17,000-square-foot mansion in Holmby Hills, reports the LA Times (well, they say it was $40 million, but Blockshopper says otherwise). The two-story "European-style" estate was developed and sold by spec megamansion king Nile Niami, who's known for his outrageous designs (operating room??). Construction finished earlier this year and the house didn't have time to hit the open market before Diddy snapped it up in an off-market deal.

The property include a pool and grotto connected by an underwater tunnel, a 35-seat theater, a wine room, and a "steam room, massage room and beauty salon" in a separate structure on-site, according to TMZ. With his new address, Diddy will now be a neighbor to the Playboy Mansion and the equally infamous The Manor, which has a climate-controlled attic that's the same size as Diddy's new place.

This is cool to watch, but I don't recommend doing it. I read a story about a man who used a 12 Gauge (no pellets) trip alarm in a box. It had the wire staked to the ground through the box, then the box was taped shut. The porch pirate sued him and won. Turns out setting a trap like this is illegal and while he didn't go to jail or anything, there was a huge fine for doing it - along with the $8500 the criminal won in the suit.

I will now share with you a true story.

I was NOT aware that Chancellor Palpatine was the Emperor until Revenge of the Sith.

How was that possible?!?

Until recently, I had not seen Return of the Jedi…and I have only a one-word answer to that:

Ewoks.

I could never make sense of how it was that little furry creatures lived in a bloody forest. It smacked of pandering to the fairer sex, who, I imagine, after first seeing the little buggers, practically cooed in the ears of anyone within earshot.

When Star Wars came out, I took the book with me, and read it while the movie played.

When Empire Strikes Back first showed, I had to leave because my sister freaked out when Han cut into the Taun-taun to keep Luke safe from the elements on Hoth. I got to see it not too long after that.

I never saw RotJ in the theater.

When the Phantom Menace came out, I thought that there was something a tad “off” about the Chancellor…but I couldn’t really put my finger on it.

Attack of the Clones should have made it clear that he was up to no good, but I simply didn’t have that prior knowledge.

Of course, it all came together in Revenge of the Sith – though his conversion to the Dark Side was clumsily done.

Now, you think I would have consulted some Star Wars Wiki that would ostensibly explain how Ewoks could live in a forest…but I didn’t much care…until I’d seen a promo of RotJ with the Emperor blasting Luke with Force Lightning.

Now I had to see it!

I sat through the bloody forest scenes, and got my payoff. Of course, I cannot find examples of other Jedis being taught the folly of attacking when the other Jedi has the “high ground“.

So…if you ever see me in person, please feel free to rib me on my missing Palpatine as the Emperor. I won’t zap you with Force Lightning…maybe.
