⁣TUSCON, AZ (AZFamily) — One of the most notorious Arizona prisoners is the sole suspect in a mass killing at a Tucson prison. Now he’s sharing in his own words how and why he carried these murders out, and when he gave prison officials a warning that it would happen.

And it did happen in April, leading to major security concerns within the corrections department.

Go back two decades, when Ricky Wassenaar was responsible for one of the longest prison standoffs in U.S. history. In 2004, he and another inmate held guards hostage in a Lewis prison tower for more than two weeks. One said she was raped.

Now, he not only admitted he is a killer but said he had plans to kill more for a good reason.

“What did you feel in that moment killing them. Did that feel good to you?” asked true crime correspondent Briana Whitney.

“Well, I felt justified,” Wassenaar told Whitney in a call from prison.

“Do you wish you killed more?” asked Whitney.

“Of course! Of course. Here’s the thing, Briana, I jumped the gun,” said Wassenaar.

His statements were concerning and alarming, but Wassenaar said there was a reason he did it. The victims, Saul Alvarez, Thorne Harnage, and Donald Lashley, all had something in common.

“They were child molesters. Alvarez had raped…had kidnapped…first, he came to this country illegally. Then he kidnapped and raped and murdered a 15-year-old little girl. I did society a favor by killing that f****t,” said Wassenaar. “The other two, Harnage and Lashley, were both sexual child predators that molested several victims. So, I did society a favor.”

Alvarez was in prison for first-degree murder. Harnage and Lashley were in prison for child sex crimes.

Wassenaar said his killing spree was possible based on where they were allowed and locked in.

“The way the prison is situated when they let out for breakfast or meal times, they lock us in what they call a chute. It’s a cage outside the chow hall. Once we’re locked in, there’s nowhere to run to, we’re all in there,” he explained.

“Once I seen one of my main targets, I jumped the gun and started. If I would have waited until that chute was locked — that cage was locked, and we were all in there locked in — I would have killed at least seven. My goal was at least seven, but I was hoping for a baker’s dozen. I had several targets, all child molesters,” Wassenaar described.

Could this have been prevented? Wassenaar himself said he warned prison officials. In November 2024, Wassenaar said he was assigned a cellmate, Joseph Desisto, who was also in prison for child molestation and abuse.

He was assigned a cellmate after his custody level changed earlier last year from maximum custody to close custody for compliant behavior, meaning a lowered level of risk to the public and staff.

Wassenaar said he told prison staff he couldn’t have a cellmate.

“I can’t have a celly, I’m not prepared for that. I’ve been in my own cell for 21 years,” Wassenaar told us.

Desisto was found dead in the cell. Wassenaar claims he killed him as a practice for more and describes in detail how he did it.

“CIU (Criminal Investigations Unit) called me in there and I told them the details just what I told you. I told them I put suntan lotion on his neck, that I dropped sweat onto his face as I was killing him, the final strangulation. And nothing happened. They gave me my property. They put me back in a cell,” Wassenaar said.

Desisto was 81 years old. The Pima County Medical Examiner ruled the cause of death was due to natural causes and underlying conditions, not a killing.

“When I got back to the yard, the inmates couldn’t believe it because they all know that I killed that dude. All of the inmates knew. And they send me back on the yard, they said, ‘What the hell?’ and I said, ‘Man, there’s higher powers, higher powers at work here.’ It’s going to recur. It’s going to recur when they put someone else in my cell. So, I warned them at least a month,” Wassenaar said.

Wassenaar told me he believed there was a chance he would be resentenced for his role in the Lewis prison standoff and have potential freedom.

Austin police arrested Eloy Adrian Camarillo, 17, and named him as one of four suspects connected to the shooting death of Infowars reporter Jamie White in March.

Camarillo "was booked into the Travis County Jail on May 1 on a charge of capital murder by terror threat/other felony on a $250,000 bond, court records state," KXAN reports.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found 36-year-old Jamie White with a gunshot wound to the neck. He was pronounced dead at 12:19 a.m. on March 10, according to the affidavit. White was an Infowars employee, law enforcement sources previously told KXAN's Brianna Hollis.

According to investigators, White was attempting to stop four suspects from burglarizing his vehicle at the complex — a green Kia Soul. One of those four suspects was identified as Camarillo, who police said was a "co-conspirator" in the deadly shooting, court records said.

Investigators obtained search warrants for cellphone tower data near the areas where the two stolen Kia Souls were seen, either on surveillance footage in the area or by witnesses who contacted police. One cellphone number that was at all the locations and times where the suspects and suspect vehicles were led them to Camarillo, court records said.

Camarillo was arrested by APD investigators on April 30. He told investigators he and the other suspects broke the window to White's green Kia Soul "with the purpose of joyriding." He said White confronted one of the suspects inside the vehicle. That is when White was shot, and then Eloy and the other suspects fled the area in the black Kia Soul, according to the affidavit.

Jones reacted to the news on Wednesday and noted that Camarillo appears to have US citizenship.

A New York rabbi and three others were indicted for stealing over $12.4 million in public aid for disabled pre-schoolers and using it to spruce up their homes, get catering discounts and fund a relative’s cosmetics business, authorities said on Tuesday.

The four men, who had ties to one of the city’s largest providers of special education services for disabled pre-schoolers, were due in court on Tuesday on criminal charges in a 42-count indictment, including grand larceny, identity theft, and falsifying business records, Queens District Attorney Richard Brown said in a statement.

If convicted, each faces up to 25 years in prison.

They are accused of stealing money meant to benefit the Island Child Development Center in Queens, a non-profit special education provider for Orthodox Jewish children aged 3 to 5.

“It is disheartening to see a betrayal of the magnitude alleged in this indictment,” Brown said in a statement.

Rabbi Samuel Hiller, who is the center’s assistant director, and Roy Hoffman, the center’s independent auditor, were accused of using the money to fix up their homes. Hoffman spent $300,000 for a house redesign and diverted $15,000 to his wife’s make-up business. Hiller spent $30,000 on home plumbing work, the prosecutor said.

Hiller also was accused of diverting $8 million to various unrelated religious schools and camps, including $3 million to B’nos Bais Yaakov Academy, a private all-girls school where he is principal.

The New York State Comptroller’s Office said they uncovered the fraud when the center’s former executive director, Ira Kurman, ran off with his books and records just before a scheduled routine audit meeting in the summer of 2012.

In the indictment, Kurman was accused of making more than $143,000 in loans to community members, including a caterer in exchange for discounts for his daughter’s wedding and his son’s Bar Mitzvah.

A fourth man, Daniel Laniado, described as an investor in the center, was accused of using check cashing locations to liquidate more than $1 million of checks meant to benefit the center.

The center received roughly $27 million in state funding between 2005 and 2012.

In addition to the criminal charges, the District Attorney’s Office sought forfeiture of over $11 million, of which $1 million has already been repaid.

Attorneys for the defendants did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

A Miami man was arrested on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, by the Delray Beach Police Department on serious charges involving the attempted exploitation of a minor.

Levi Cash, 64, was taken into custody at approximately 3:56 p.m. at 300 W. Atlantic Ave.

According to the arrest report, Cash traveled with the intent to meet a minor for unlawful sexual activity and used a two-way communication device to facilitate the felony.

Cash, whose listed occupation is a rabbi, faces two felony charges: traveling to meet a minor for an unlawful sex act, with the bond set at $50,000, and use of a two-way communication device to facilitate a felony, with the bond set at $10,000.

The arrest warrant includes strict bond conditions. Cash is prohibited from:

Having any contact with individuals under the age of 18
Accessing the internet
Possessing or using any smartphone with internet capabilities

He was booked into the Palm Beach County Jail shortly after his arrest.

The investigation remains ongoing.

A kids' TV show featuring completely nude adults answering questions about the human body has sparked fury in Holland.

An advert for the programme called 'Simply Naked', which is set to be televised by the public broadcaster NOS, showed a group of adults disrobing in front of an audience of children.

The boys and girls, aged between 10 and 12, were invited to ask questions on subjects such as how confident the adults felt in their own bodies.

The series' developers say it has been 'very carefully produced,' is intended to educate children about the human body and that there are no questions about sex.

But critics have branded it 'disgusting,' with the leader of the right-wing FvD party Thierry Baudet saying it 'comes close to promoting paedophilia'.

Left-wing MP Tunahan Kuzu called the programme 'ridiculous' and told his Twitter followers to write to the national broadcaster to complain.

The conservative SGP party has also asked questions in parliament over why the programme is going ahead.

It comes after a preview of the series aired which showed the varying reactions of the children and some of the questions which they put to the adults.

One of the children said: 'This is not a show I need to see.'

While another told the broadcaster: 'It's good to know that other people worry about the same things too.'

TV presenter Edson da Graça told NOS: 'The aim is to teach children that each and every body is different and that not all bodies are perfect.'

Elsbeth Reitzema from the Rutgers sexual health foundation, which collaborated with NOS to produce the series, said that the steady stream of semi-pornographic images which children see everyday on television and online gave them a distorted view of the human body.

'Those who see ordinary naked bodies more often have a more positive body image,' she said.

The public broadcaster said in a statement: 'The children knew exactly what was going to happen and they could say how they felt during the programme at any time. ... We had expected a bit of a ruckus. Not everyone will think this is for children and that's OK. It's up to the parents to decide if their children can watch.'

The series is based on the Danish kids' TV show Ultra smider tøjet (Ultra strips down), which is now into its second series.

It has been popular in Denmark, although not without criticism, where many believe that children should be exposed to the realities of life - so-called 'Nordic parenting'.

'We recognise the significance of a bruise,' Sofie Münster, a parenting expert told the New York Times in October. 'Danish parenting generally favours exposing children rather than shielding them.'

A particularly famous example is how children were given front row seats to observe as a giraffe was euthanized, dissected and then fed to lions at Copenhagen Zoo in 2014.

'This is how we educate our children,' Münster said. 'We show them reality as it is.'

On the other hand, the conservative Danish People's Party has argued against the show.

Party chairman Peter Skaarup said in September that it is 'completely wrong and far too extreme.'

He added: 'Shouldn't we just let children be children?

'It corrupts our children, who at that age already have many things running around in their heads. There is no need for these things on top.'
