A 22-year-old woman was fatally stabbed in Midtown Manhattan on Tuesday night, according to police and sources.

The NYPD said that the victim was stabbed in the chest at around 10:17 pm, close to the junction of West 40th Street and Eighth Avenue. After being taken to Bellevue Hospital, she was declared dead, according to police.

Authorities added that a suspect, identified as a female wearing blue jeans and a white top, was observed running away down Eighth Avenue from the scene. The inquiry is underway and no one has been taken into custody.

Further research uncovered recent reports featuring the same footage. According to these reports, the incident in the viral video occurred in Haizhu District, Guangzhou, China, in 2021 (here, here, & here). None of these reports mentioned the battery’s magnetic field as the cause of the explosion.

Additionally, these reports highlighted that, following Shanghai authorities’ revision of rules banning electric bicycles or their batteries from being brought indoors or into elevators, the video of the old incident is being shared for reference and awareness purposes.

Previously, Shanghai authorities banned bringing e-bike batteries indoors and prohibited commercial activities related to the assembly, addition, or modification of e-bikes (here, here & here). This government action came after multiple incidents of battery explosions caused by modifications and overheating (here).

A similar incident was reported in Singapore:

A similar incident involving an EV battery explosion in an elevator was reported in Singapore in 2021. According to the investigation, authorities determined that battery modifications were one of the causes of the explosion.

Many other social media posts are sharing the same viral video, alleging it shows this incident that occurred in Singapore. However, the viral video is not related to the Singapore incident. Circumstantial evidence supports this, as the reports on the Singapore incident included visuals that differ from the viral video. Specifically, the paintings on the wall adjacent to the elevator in the Singapore incident are different from those in the viral video (here & here).

Additionally, regarding the Singapore incident, these reports highlighted that after hearing screams, people from other flats on the lower floor rushed to the scene and extinguished the lift fire with buckets of water. In contrast, the viral video shows a couple waiting for the lift, observing the fire, and attempting to put it out using extinguishers (here & here). These differences further support that the viral video is not related to the incident reported in Singapore.

Magnetic field did not cause the fire:

The electric field inside a conductor is zero when there is no net movement of charge across it. In an ideal state, batteries do not produce a magnetic field. Magnetic fields are only generated during the charging or discharging of a battery. However, these magnetic fields are weak and not strong enough to cause an explosion (here).

The viral video clearly shows that the battery is not connected to any power sources. While external magnetic fields can affect batteries, their impact is minimal (here, here & here). Furthermore, the metal surface of the elevator does not generate a significant magnetic field, as there is no net movement of charge across it. Therefore, the elevator surface cannot influence the battery through magnetic fields (here). As a result, the claim that magnetic fields caused the fire in the viral incident is not substantiated.

Despite increased international attention and resources from states and other non-governmental institutions, the number of people falling victim to human trafficking around the world continues to grow. Between 2008 and 2019 the number of human trafficking victims identified worldwide more than quadrupled from around 30,000 to nearly 120,000. Then he spent some time complimenting the children on their reading skills and took some photos with them and their teachers. Three years later, this muted reaction became a liability for Mr Bush when Michael Moore included it in his 2004 documentary, Fahrenheit 9/11. After years of being presented to the public as a strong, decisive leader, the footage of Mr Bush sitting inertly with schoolchildren as Americans were being massacred was a major embarrassment.
“Not knowing what to do, with no one telling him what to do, and no Secret Service rushing in to take him to safety, Mr Bush just sat there,” Mr Moore said in his withering narration.
Even after his presidency, the former president and his team have tried to dispel this narrative. Mr Bush himself has said he stayed with the children to show strength.
“I didn’t want to rattle the kids,” he said. “I wanted to project a sense of calm.”
The White House press secretary at the time, Ari Fleischer, insisted in 2016 that after leaving the school, away from the cameras, Mr Bush was full of resolve and bravado. (Mr Cheney has said he cleared this order with Mr Bush first, but according to The Atlantic, evidence shows the order came before the permission.) That order, fortunately, never made its way to any fighter pilots.
Three days later, with more time to prepare, Mr Bush famously spoke through a bullhorn atop the rubble of the World Trade Center. Standing in plainclothes among firefighters and first responders, the president projected the kind of take-charge machismo he had lacked on the day of the attacks.
“I can hear you!” he told the crowd, which couldn’t hear him through the bullhorn. “The rest of the world hears you. And the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.”
For years, that was the image that many Americans had of Mr Bush after 9/11 – decisive, resolute, brave. Pundits spoke ad nauseam about his “resolve”. Even though video footage of it existed, almost no one saw Mr Bush’s in-the-moment reaction to the terrorist attacks.
Then Fahrenheit 9/11 came along. In the years since then, despite all the efforts at historical revision, the image of this commander-in-chief that sticks out in many American minds is of him sitting in that Florida classroom, reading with children about a goat.

punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.

(b) If there is a human being in the structure or conveyance at the time
the offender trespassed, attempted to trespass, or was in the structure
or conveyance, the trespass in a structure or conveyance is a
misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or
s. 775.083.

(c) If the offender is armed with a firearm or other dangerous weapon,
or arms himself or herself with such while in the structure or
conveyance, the trespass in a structure or conveyance is a felony of the
third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s.
775.084. Any owner or person authorized by the owner may, for
prosecution purposes, take into custody and detain, in a reasonable
manner, for a reasonable length of time, any person when he or she
reasonably believes that a violation of this paragraph has been or is
being committed, and he or she reasonably believes that the person to be
taken into custody and detained has committed or is committing such
violation. In the event a person is taken into custody, a law
enforcement officer shall be called as soon as is practicable after the
person has been taken into custody. The taking into custody and
detention by such person, if done in compliance with the requirements of
this paragraph, shall not render such person criminally or civilly
liable for false arrest, false imprisonment, or unlawful detention.

(3) As used in this section, the term “person authorized” means any
owner or lessee, or his or her agent, or any law enforcement officer
whose department has received written authorization from the owner or
lessee, or his or her agent, to communicate an order to depart the
property in the case of a threat to public safety or welfare.
