A wayward and unresponsive business plane that flew over the nation's capital Sunday afternoon caused the military to scramble a fighter jet before the plane crashed in Virginia, officials said. The fighter jet caused a loud sonic boom that was heard across the capital region.

Hours later, police said rescuers had reached the site of the plane crash in a rural part of the Shenandoah Valley and that no survivors were found.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the Cessna Citation took off from Elizabethton, Tennessee, on Sunday and was headed for Long Island’s MacArthur Airport. Inexplicably, the plane turned around over New York’s Long Island and flew a straight path down over D.C. before it crashed over mountainous terrain near Montebello, Virginia, around 3:30 p.m.

It was not immediately clear why the plane was nonresponsive, why it crashed or how many people were on board. The plane flew directly over the nation's capital, though it was technically flying above some of the most heavily restricted airspace in the nation.

A U.S. official confirmed to The Associated Press that the military jet had scrambled to respond to the small plane, which wasn't responding to radio transmissions and later crashed. The official was not authorized to publicly discuss details of the military operation and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Flight tracking sites showed the jet suffered a rapid spiraling descent, dropping at one point at a rate of more than 30,000 feet per minute before crashing in the St. Mary’s Wilderness.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command later said in a statement that the F-16 was authorized to travel at supersonic speeds, which caused a sonic boom that was heard in Washington and parts of Virginia and Maryland.

In the year 1346 a Mongol Golden Horde army attacked and besieged the Venetian colony city of Feodosia in modern-day Crimea. While besieging the city many of the Mongol soldiers fell ill and died from an unknown illness. The Mongols then decided to then catapult the corpses into the city hoping that the unknown illness would spread to the Venetians. At some point through merchant ships the illness reached Central Europe. The jewish communities in Europe noticed this illness and did everything possible to spread it wide and far(i.e. well poisoning). As time passed Europeans began to notice that the jewish quarters were completely unaffected by what became to be known as the "Black Death" In 1348 as tensions between Europeans and jews increased a pogrom was carried out in the city of Toulon, France and many more followed in other European cities. On February 14th 1349 after a local official in the city of Strasbourg had been deposed for protecting the jews an angry mob stormed the jewish quarter and over 1k jews were dragged in to the street and burned to death, resulting in the entire jewish population of Strasbourg being wiped out. While the pogroms did not stop the Bubonic Plague, many Europeans were freed from their debts due to the deaths of thousands of jewish merchants.

Some so-called Holocaust “revisionists” claim they don’t deny the Holocaust happened, but simply dispute some of the findings of mainstream historians. They use this rhetorical strategy to try to avoid the moral disgust that many people feel towards Holocaust deniers, but upon examining many of their claims it is clear that their goal is indeed to deny the essential fact of the Holocaust: that approximately six million Jews were killed by the viciously antisemitic Nazi regime, including many in gas chambers.
Pseudo-academic Holocaust deniers and white supremacist, antisemitic trolls alike dispute the fact that six million Jews were killed, often claiming that the actual death toll is much lower, and many deaths were due to diseases like typhus rather than large-scale systemic murder. They also dismiss or minimize the role of the gas chambers, arguing that it was scientifically and technically impossible for the Nazis to have killed that many Jews, and the gas chambers were not used for extermination.

⁣Some time ago, a friend invited me over to view The Third Man, starring Orson Welles and Joseph Cotton - let's drop the brief synopsis:
What was the story of The Third Man?
Set in postwar Vienna, Austria, "The Third Man" stars Joseph Cotten as Holly Martins, a writer of pulp Westerns, who arrives penniless as a guest of his childhood chum Harry Lime (Orson Welles), only to find him dead. Martins develops a conspiracy theory after learning of a "third man" present at the time of Harry's death, running into interference from British officer Maj. Calloway (Trevor Howard) and falling head-over-heels for Harry's grief-stricken lover, Anna (Alida Valli).
Kinda misses the point of the actual scenario - weaponizing calamity was one of the hidden themes of the movie - now, when I first watched this, none of what I now know came to the fore...but I did subconsciously take it all in
Some time later, I recalled the ferris wheel scene [my friend at the time told me to pay attention], and then it hit me - Orson Welles was one of the well poisoners!
