Aldrich’s request for a name change came months after Aldrich was apparently targeted by online bullying. A website posting from June 2015 that attacked a teen named Nick Brink suggests they may have been bullied in high school. The post included photos similar to ones of the shooting suspect and ridiculed Brink over their weight, lack of money and what it said was an interest in Chinese cartoons.

Additionally, a YouTube account was opened in Brink’s name that included an animation titled “Asian homosexual gets molested.”

The name change and bullying were first reported by The Washington Post.

Aldrich was tackled and beaten by bar patrons during the attack that left 17 other people with gunshot wounds. Aldrich faces five murder charges and five charges of committing a bias-motivated crime causing bodily injury, online court records showed.

Aldrich was released from the hospital and was being held at the El Paso County jail, police said.

Aldrich was arrested last year after their mother reported her child threatened her with a homemade bomb and other weapons. Ring doorbell video obtained by The Associated Press shows Aldrich arriving at their mother’s front door with a big black bag the day of the 2021 bomb threat, telling her the police were nearby and adding, “This is where I stand. Today I die.”

Authorities at the time said no explosives were found, but gun-control advocates have asked why police didn’t use Colorado’s “red flag” laws to seize the weapons Aldrich’s mother says her child had.

The weekend assault took place at a nightclub known as a sanctuary for the LGBTQ community in this mostly conservative city of about 480,000 about 70 miles (110 kilometers) south of Denver.

At Tuesday’s Pima County Board of Supervisor’s meeting, online attendees were treated to a bit of a skin flick when a man bared himself while Supervisor Matt Heinz was zooming into the meeting. Heinz quickly shut the camera off when he saw the man appear behind him on his computer.
According to various sources, Heinz has appeared almost exclusively at Board meetings via Zoom, citing fear of Covid exposure. The same sources say that he has made other appearances via Zoom while on cruise ships.
In the video, which appears to be shot from either a hospital room or cruise ship cabin, Heinz is listening intently to a discussion of the highly questionable election process employed by Pima County, when a man wearing a speedo-type under garment and tank top emerges from out-of-screen behind him, pulls up his tank top and exposes a well-conditioned and seemingly young body to the viewing public. A startled Heinz then quickly turns off his computer’s camera function.
Former Supervisor Ally Miller tweeted, “I thought the pot smoking on the 11th floor of Pima County BOS was bad enough. Now we get to view cruise ship activities of the Board of Supervisors. Praying Dr. Heinz doesn’t get covid,” in response to a post from the Protect Tucson Public Safety Twitter page.
The video caught fire once popular Phoenix radio show host, KFYI’s James T. Harris, shared it on Twitter:
While Heinz, who is an emergency room doctor, enjoyed a reputation as a fairly friendly member when he served in the Arizona Legislature, he has earned a reputation for being a bully on the Board of Supervisors. From calling small, unmasked children “little Typhoid Mary’s” to illegally snapping at members of the public when they dare to challenge his decisions during the Board’s Call to the Public periods, Heinz has alienated colleagues and members of the public.
Heinz has been very careful to avoid controversy since the days he was called out by his fellow Democrats for befriending the controversial former Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babue, who was under attack by his former lover. In that case, Babue, a Republican who presented himself as a border security hawk, allegedly threatened his Mexican ex-lover with deportation when the man refused to promise never to disclose their years-long relationship.

Lowe tried to run away on his stumps and ignored orders from police to drop his weapon.

Police first used a taser to subdue Lowe, but the taser failed.

The police department said in a statement that police fatally shot Anthony Lowe after he continued to threaten them with a knife.

“Pfizer Asks Court to Dismiss Whistleblower Lawsuit Because Government Was Aware of Fraud
In an interview with The Defender, the lawyer representing whistleblower Brook Jackson said Pfizer is arguing the court should dismiss Jackson’s lawsuit alleging fraud in Pfizer’s COVID-19 clinical trials because the U.S. government knew about the wrongdoings but continued to do business with the vaccine maker.

A lawsuit filed by whistleblower Brook Jackson alleging Pfizer and two of its contractors manipulated data and committed other acts of fraud during Pfizer’s COVID-19 clinical trials is paused following a motion by the defendants to dismiss the case.

In an interview with The Defender, Jackson’s lawyer said Pfizer argued the lawsuit, which was filed under the False Claims Act, should be dismissed because the U.S. government knew of the wrongdoings in the clinical trials but continued to do business with the vaccine maker.

In an interview with The Defender, Jackson’s lawyer said Pfizer argued the lawsuit, which was filed under the False Claims Act, should be dismissed because the U.S. government knew of the wrongdoings in the clinical trials but continued to do business with the vaccine maker.

Under the False Claims Act, whistleblowers can be rewarded for confidentially disclosing fraud that results in a financial loss to the federal government.

However, a 2016 U.S. Supreme Court decision that expanded the scope of a legal principle known as “materiality” resulted in a series of federal court decisions in which fraud cases brought under the False Claims Act were dismissed.

As interpreted by the Supreme Court, if the government continued paying a contractor despite the contractor’s fraudulent activity, the fraud was not considered “material” to the contract.

Pfizer is a federal contractor because it signed multiple contracts with the U.S. government to provide COVID-19 vaccines and Paxlovid, a pill used to treat the virus.

“Pfizer claims they can get away with fraud as long as the government would write them a check despite knowing about the fraud,” attorney Robert Barnes said.”

4. Pfizer delegated management of the clinical trial to subcontractor Defendant Icon PLC (“Icon”), an Irish clinical research organization. Icon was tasked with oversight of over 160 test sites worldwide, ensuring trial protocol compliance, and ensuring reporting of required information. This includes oversight of Serious Adverse Event (“SAE”) reporting, which is required by the trial protocol and federal regulations. Pfizer remained responsible for managing and quality checking all data for the entire clinical trial, per the trial’s protocol.

5. Defendant Ventavia Research Group, LLC (“Ventavia”) was contracted by Pfizer to provide three Phase 3 test sites for the vaccine trial in Houston, Fort Worth, and Keller, Texas. Ventavia ultimately enrolled about 1,500 clinical trial patients. Ventavia employed Relator Jackson as a Regional Director. She was tasked with overseeing site management, patient enrollment, quality assurance completion, event reporting, corrective action plan creation, communication with management, and staff training completion at the Keller and Fort Worth sites.

6. Pfizer, aiming for the title of “first successful COVID-19 vaccine,” pushed Ventavia to enroll as many patients as possible in the vaccine trial as quickly as possible. Ventavia was compensated by Pfizer mainly on a per-patient basis—up to a weekly limit—and rushed to enroll as many clinical trial participants as possible per week. Ventavia’s race to maximize payment and over-booking of patients resulted in sloppy and fraudulent documentation practices, poor clinical trial protocol compliance, and little oversight. Pfizer and Icon turned a blind eye to Ventavia’s misconduct, despite numerous warning signs.

7. Ventavia’s trial protocol and regulatory violations were so widespread, in fact, that Relator observed them on a near-daily basis during her brief employment period. For example,
