What was the story of The Third Man?
Set in postwar Vienna, Austria, "The Third Man" stars Joseph Cotten as Holly Martins, a writer of pulp Westerns, who arrives penniless as a guest of his childhood chum Harry Lime (Orson Welles), only to find him dead. Martins develops a conspiracy theory after learning of a "third man" present at the time of Harry's death, running into interference from British officer Maj. Calloway (Trevor Howard) and falling head-over-heels for Harry's grief-stricken lover, Anna (Alida Valli).
Kinda misses the point of the actual scenario - weaponizing calamity was one of the hidden themes of the movie - now, when I first watched this, none of what I now know came to the fore...but I did subconsciously take it all in

Elon Musk said on Saturday that the Unabomber — despite his twisted, homicidal rampage that killed three people and injured two dozen more — “might not be wrong” in his belief that technology is detrimental to society.
The billionaire tweeted the comment the same day the Unabomber, whose real name was Ted Kaczynski, died in his jail cell aged 81 after nearly three decades in prison.
Starting in 1978, Kaczynski waged a 17-year, anti-tech campaign by constructing 16 homemade bombs and mailing them to people he believed were destroying the environment and creating a more technically advanced society.
The explosives made Kaczynski the most prolific bomber in American history.
While living as a hermit in a Montana cabin, making bombs and evading authorities for 20 years, Kaczynski penned a 35,000-word manifesto titled “Industrial Society and Its Future,” a scathing writeup against technology and leftist views.
In it, the Harvard-educated mathematics professor warned the world about how rapidly expanding technology would threaten and possibly ruin humans.
“The Industrial Revolution and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race,” the work, better known as “The Unabomber Manifesto,” infamously begins.
When author Ashley St. Clair tweeted the quote alongside news of Kaczynski’s death on Saturday, Musk replied with: “He might not be wrong.”

The following day, Musk tweeted a meme showing a grim reaper at a claw machine, suggesting Kaczynski did not die by suicide in a prison medical center, as sources told the Associated Press.
Kaczynski, who was suffering from late-stage cancer, was transferred to a federal medical center in North Carolina in 2021 to get care for his health issues.
He had previously been serving four life sentences plus 30 years at a maximum-security facility in Colorado.
To some, Kaczynski was a folk hero for his pro-Luddite views, which he wrote about in his manifesto, arguing that “if our society had no social problems at all, the leftists would have to INVENT problems in order to provide themselves with an excuse for making a fuss.”
In the work — which was published as an eight-page Washington Post spread and ultimately led to his arrest — Kaczynski also claimed that technological advancements have “destabilized society, have made life unfulfilling, have subjected human beings to indignities, have led to widespread psychological suffering (in the Third World to physical suffering as well) and have inflicted severe damage on the natural world.”

While Musk may agree with Kaczynski’s views on some level, he’s also arguably the face of some of today’s biggest tech advancements.
Just last month Musk’s brain-implant company Neuralink received the Food and Drug Administration’s approval to launch the first-in-human clinical study.
Musk claims the chip will help paralyzed people walk again and cure other neurological ailments, including blindness.
He also recently said during the Wall Street Journal’s CEO Council Summit that there is a “non-zero chance” that rogue advanced artificial intelligence could annihilate humanity.
Musk also raised the possibility that an advanced AI system could decide to place humanity “under strict controls.”
Musk also said that AI could turn on humans.
For example, it could decide to seize “all the computing systems and weapons systems of Earth and effectively being like some sort of ‘uber-nanny.’” he said during the CEO Council Summit.
Kaczynski shared a similar sentiment in his manifesto. He claimed technological advancements would strip humans of their freedom because “the regulation of our lives by large organizations is necessary for the functioning of industrial-technological society. The result is a sense of powerlessness on the part of the average person.”
Meanwhile, Musk called for a six-month pause in further developing AI-backed models like ChatGPT until regulators developed and implemented safety protocols back in April.

In an interview prior to his conviction, Taylor told RedState:

I found out that you can actually legally buy a receiver and you can machine that receiver to completion, and you buy your parts and you put them together and you’ve got a pistol or a rifle. And once I saw that I was hooked. I was like, ‘This is the coolest thing ever. This is the most cool thing you could possibly do in your machine shop.’

From the beginning of Taylor’s trial, it was evident that the court would be biased against the defendant, according to Varghese, who explained that two judges presided over his case before the current official, Judge Abena Darkeh, took over.

The judge disrupted Varghese’s opening statement multiple times as he tried to set the stage for Taylor’s defense. Even further, she admonished the defense to refrain from mentioning the Second Amendment during the trial. Varghese told RedState:

She told us, ‘Do not bring the Second Amendment into this courtroom. It doesn’t exist here. So you can’t argue Second Amendment. This is New York.'

Varghese said he had filed the appropriate paperwork to “preserve these arguments for appeal” but that the judge "rejected these arguments, and she went out of her way to limit me.”

During the trial, the prosecution attempted to paint Taylor as a dangerous individual who was building dangerous firearms in his basement. In this vein, the prosecution objected to allowing Taylor’s family in the courtroom to show support, nor did they allow his upstairs neighbor, who knew about Tayor’s hobby, to testify on his behalf. Varghese described the prosecutor’s opening statement:

He opens up, and he says that Mr. Taylor had a parade of horror. He was building this horrible place. When they saw this horror that he was making under the noses of his neighbors because all of those guns intended to hit their targets, basically implying that he was going to do some harm with these things.

When Varghese countered this narrative during his opening statement, the judge interrupted him again. “There’s no crime here, there’s no allegation of violence,” Varghese recounted, saying, “I got up and said, ‘You’re going to learn what Dexter is, who he is. You’re going to learn that he never fired these guns.’”

The judge interrupted again and asked the lawyers to come to her chambers for the second time.

Varghese explained that he believed the only chance of having the case go in his client’s favor was through jury nullification, which occurs when members of a jury believe a defendant violated a law, but decide against prosecuting them because they disagree with the law itself, or other reasons.

Judge Darkeh attempted to shut this argument down and led the jury to believe they would face consequences if they did not vote to convict Taylor. In reality, this is not the case. Jury nullification is not illegal, according to Varghese.

“I actually argued that jury nullification is allowed because there is some law from the High Court of New York that talks about lawyers who made jury nullification arguments. And basically, they said that judges shouldn’t encourage it, but they can’t prevent it. I actually made a pitch directly to Judge Darkeh to allow me to argue during nullification. She, of course, rejected that.”

He added: “She basically said, ‘You must vote guilty’ without saying ‘you must vote guilty.’”

He characterized Judge Darkeh as “the most aggressive prosecutor in the room.”

On April 16, when it was almost time for the court to close for the day, the jury returned with a verdict. They found Taylor guilty of all but two counts. He was immediately taken into custody.

SYMPTOMS OF BEING HIT WITH MICROWAVES
At the time when microwave output is being ramped up, persons exposed to it will feel a sensation of heat on the face and sometimes on the body but no fever will be present.

They will then experience a weird odor in the air as if the oxygen is literally being fried out of the atmosphere. At the same time, they will have a hissing in the ears, which is the bodily sensory apparatus sensing the incoming radiation. At very intense levels, the brain will feel like it is "sizzling."

LUNG AND HEART ISSUES RISING DRAMATICALLY
While all those sensations are happening, the lungs and organs of the thorax are being attacked by the frequencies, often resulting in respiratory illness of one sort or another. If the intensity of the incoming radiation is strong enough, the heart will be affected and be thrown out of resonance. The general feeling will be one of extreme malaise.

EMERGENCY ROOM CRISIS
The situation is reportedly worse than at the height of the COVID lockdowns. The average person remains clueless as to the effect of the frequencies they are being exposed to and no doctor will ever mention it.

In other words, frequencies can vastly disrupt bodily functions and can be used, at will, by the Controllers, to "cause" a wave of illness or even deaths across the nation, which they could then blame on this or that virus.

LAKELAND, Fla. - The Lakeland Police Department is reviewing an arrest made by two of its officers. It involves a 16-year-old and the video appears to show one officer punching him in the head and another using a taser.

Community activists are calling this an act of police brutality. The confrontation between the officers and the teen started at a Memorial Day pool party, where the teen is accused of trespassing.

Now, community leaders are calling for criminal charges against the officers and said they aren’t surprised by this latest incident involving Lakeland police.

"This place is one of the most dangerous places in Polk County," said Pastor Clayton Cowart with the Poor Minority Justice Association. "This is police brutality in every way and I think this is child abuse."

On Monday, police were called to a pool party at an apartment complex. Some of the teens were accused of trespassing.

In the video circulating on social media, you can see two officers punch and hit the teen multiple times. At one point, an officer grabs the teen by his hair, before another tases the 16-year-old.

"He’s traumatized, his mother is traumatized, the other kids that were there are traumatized," said Cowart.

The teen was charged with trespassing, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

According to the arrest affidavit, the officer said the 16-year-old was uncooperative and punched the officer in the face.

Lakeland PD said that Chief Sam Taylor has been informed of the incident, has met with community leaders about it and has already requested an administrative review by the Office of Professional Standards.

"I don’t believe that there is going to be any video that shows the young man struck the officer first. What I will say is this, where was his de-escalation tactics?" said Cowart.

FOX 13 requested the body cam footage, but at this time it is not being released. Some activists are questioning whether it will be.

"Lakeland has this culture of not playing the video, so let's see if we have the video first," said Cowart.

Some community leaders will meet with the police chief later this week. Cowart said there is a protest planned for Saturday outside the Lakeland Police Department at 6 p.m.

Rosa Parks occupies an iconic status in the civil rights movement after she refused to vacate a seat on a bus in favor of a white passenger in Montgomery, Alabama. In 1955, Parks rejected a bus driver's order to leave a row of four seats in the "colored" section once the white section had filled up and move to the back of the bus.

Her defiance sparked a successful boycott of buses in Montgomery a few days later. Residents refused to board the city's buses. Instead they carpooled, rode in Black-owned cabs, or walked, some as far as 20 miles. The boycott dealt a severe blow to the bus company's profits as dozens of public buses stood idle for months. The boycott was led by a newcomer to Montgomery named Martin Luther King, Jr.

INTENTIONAL ACT

At the time, Parks led the youth division at the Montgomery branch of NAACP. She said her anger over the lynching of 14-year-old Emmett Till and the failure to bring his killers to justice inspired her to make her historic stand. Four days before the incident, Parks attended a meeting where she learned of the acquittal of Till's murderers.

In her autobiography, Rosa Parks: My Story (1992), Parks declares her defiance was an intentional act: "I was not tired physically, or no more tired than I usually was at the end of a working day. I was not old, although some people have an image of me as being old then. I was 42. No, the only tired I was, was tired of giving in."

As a result of her defiance, Parks was arrested and found guilty of disorderly conduct. NAACP joined her appeal, a case that languished in the Alabama court system. Segregation on public buses eventually ended in 1956 after a Supreme Court ruling declared it unconstitutional in Browder v. Gayle. Parks was not included as a plaintiff in the decision since her case was still pending in the state court.

JOINING THE FIGHT IN DETROIT

In addition to her arrest, Parks lost her job as a seamstress at a local department store. Her husband Raymond lost his job as a barber at a local air force base after his boss forbade him to talk about the legal case. Parks and her husband left Montgomery in 1957 to find work, first traveling to Virginia and later to Detroit, Michigan.

Parks supported the militant Black power movement, whose leaders disagreed with the methods of the nonviolent movement represented by Martin Luther King. Her break with other Montgomery leaders over the future of the civil rights struggle contributed to her departure from the Southern city.

Parks was struck by the similarity in treatment of African Americans in Detroit, finding that schools and housing were just as segregated as they were in the South. She joined the movement for fair housing and lent her support to local candidate John Conyers in his bid for Congress.

After he was elected in 1965, Conyers repaid the favor by employing Parks as his secretary in his Detroit office, a position she held until her retirement in 1988. In the role, Parks worked with constituents on issues such as job discrimination, education, and affordable housing.

Parks remained active in the civil rights movement in the 1960s and helped investigate the killing of three Black teenagers in a 1967 race riot in Detroit.

DEATH AND LEGACY

Over the course of her life, Parks received many honors, including NAACP's Springarn Medal in 1979, the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1996, and the Congressional Gold Medal in 1999. After Parks died in Detroit in 2005 at the age of 92, she became the first woman to lie in honor in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, D.C.

California, Missouri, Ohio, and Oregon commemorate Rosa Parks Day every year, and highways in Missouri, Michigan, and Pennsylvania bear her name.

President Biden seemed to suffer a verbal slip-up during a speech at a trade union conference in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.

Biden, reading off a teleprompter, appeared to incorporate script instructions in the middle of his speech, resulting in an awkward applause line. The moment came during a section of his remarks straight out of a campaign stump speech.

"I see an America where we defend democracy, not diminish it. I see an America where we protect freedoms, not take them away," Biden said. "I see an economy that grows a lot in the bottom up where the wealthy pay their fair share, so we can have child care, paid leave and so much more, and still reduce the federal deficit and increase economic folks.

"Imagine what we could do next. Four more years, pause," he said before laughing.

Biden attended Wednesday's conference to receive an endorsement from the North American Building Trades Unions (NABTU).

Throughout his speech, Biden blasted former President Donald Trump as being anti-union and a defender of the ultra-wealthy. He went on to contrast his and Trump's economic policies as the "Scranton" plan and the "Mar-a-Lago" plan, referring to his hometown in Pennsylvania and Trump's residence in Florida.

Biden's teleprompter mix-up is only the latest in the president's long list of gaffes. Just on Tuesday, he delivered fodder to conservative commentators by mistakenly saying he and his party "can't be trusted."

Biden was speaking at a Florida campaign rally at the time, focusing on abortion in particular. During his critique of Trump's abortion stance, he flipped the tables on himself.

"I don’t know why we’re surprised by Trump. How many times does he have to prove we can't be trusted?" Biden said.

Audience members could be heard laughing after his comment, but Biden continued, seemingly not noticing the mistake.

Biden's critics on X had a field day with the gaffe, with many saying they were surprised to find themselves agreeing with the president.
