Stephanie Melgoza blew three times over the legal limit shortly after failing every other sobriety test performed by East Peoria officers. "This doesn't happen. I go to Bradley," the clearly intoxicated woman said referencing the private university she was set to graduate from in the coming weeks. “You’re pathetic,” an officer said to Melgoza in the hospital when she continued to joke around after learning the two victims died. From JSF: ⁣ New fastest production car in the worldThe Lucid Air Sapphire can destroy a Model S Plaid, the fastest Bugatti, and the world's fastest motorcycle.Lucid is a not well known luxury EV company that outclasses Tesla and across the board - far more luxurious, faster, much longer range, and costs approximately twice as much. One caveat: Dodge released a new Demon that might beat even this, time will tell.


⁣Jason Cammisa got the exclusive first test, strapped on his equipment, and broke the record: the Lucid Air Sapphire is the world's quickest-accelerating production car.

With a staggering quarter-mile performance of 9.1 seconds at 156 mph, this 1200+ horsepower 3-motor Air beat out the reigning champion, the triple-motor, 1020-hp Tesla Model S Plaid, which runs the 1/4-mile in 9.3 seconds at 152 mph.

The cars are "tied" at 2.1 seconds 0-60, though some trivia: the Lucid Air Sapphire gets to 60 mph 0.03 seconds before the Tesla Model S Plaid.

We weren't satisfied with just that race, so we also brought along the fastest-accelerating gas-powered production car, the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport. This is the 1479-hp (1500-PS) Chiron with shortened gear ratios, grippy Michelin Cup 2R tires, a fixed rear wing, and weight-reduction measures.

Even despite these hyper-aggressive Michelins' distaste for cold tarmac, the Chiron ripped off a 2.3-second, four-wheel-burnout launch from 0-to-60 mph, and then continued on to a 9.3-second, 156-mph quarter-mile performance. That is a tenth quicker to 60 mph than the "regular" Chiron has managed, and a tenth quicker through the quarter, too. That's an internal-combustion production-car 1/4-mile record for the Chiron Pur Sport — and we suspect that, in warmer conditions, this Pur Sport would be even quicker!

That's not the case with the 210-hp Ducati Panigale V4 SP2, one of the quickest superbikes in the world. It had no traction issues as MotoAmerica Supersport champion rider Josh Herrin cracked the throttle wide open, dumped the dry clutch, and ripped off a stupefying 9.3-second, 157-mph run through the quarter-mile.

This beat our last outing with the same Panigale, when it handily dusted a 2023 C8 Corvette Z06. This time, Ducati softened the suspension and dropped the fork; Josh sacrificed the clutch and kept the wheelie at bay. It's safe to say this is the limit for the SP2 — except that Ducati offers a factory Akrapovic exhaust and tune that boost horsepower. We'd love to come back and try that again!

But for the moment, it's clear: among production cars with four wheels, the Lucid Air Sapphire is now the acceleration king, with the Chiron Pur Sport in second place. In one video, Tesla went from first to third.

Oct 8, 2022 - The Kerch bridge from Russia to Crimea has been hit by a huge explosion

Images from the bridge showed a fiercely burning fire engulfing at least two railway carriages from a train on the bridge, accompanied by a vast column of black smoke, and one half of the parallel road bridge collapsed into the Kerch Strait.
The explosion, which witnesses said could be heard miles away, took place before 6am on Saturday while a train was crossing the bridge. Russian officials said a car bomb was to blame

cmt: You are wrong this was no suicide truck bomb. On other footage with sound you can clearly hear the sound of like a missile or rocket hit. I listened to it over and over it sounds like a missile or rocket SHH SHHH you can hear right before the explosion
Watch the other CCTV videos doing the rounds. One taken from the railway bridge shows the moments just prior to the explosion. I watched it frame by frame and could clearly see the bow of a small boat coming into view as the kerrbooom happened.

2nd cmt: The boat (some sort of speed boat) was small but obviously packed with explosives. It was adjacent to a pylon which explains why 2 sections of one of the road ways were lifted and the one directly over the boat collapsed when coming back down.

The adjacent roadway has been damaged, but probably is still serviceable.

I could not see the whole boat so cannot say if anyone was aboard.

The train was going back to Russia so was presumably empty so only burnt and did not explode. Many of the tanks did not explode. I suspect it because any remaining fuel on board ran into the sea, while if it was on land, the burning fuel would travel under the next tank, cooking it to the point of explosion.

Some steel work has buckled under the heat, but mostly hand rails etc. I suspect the rails will be warped, but quickly replaceable. The main structure will probably be OK (under war conditions where standards not so rigorous).

Conclusion? A boat attacked the road bridge and something else (rocket from a drone?) attacked the train soon after.

Result - one road way smashed, the other side damaged to an unknown extent. And one railway span damaged, but probably still serviceable.

A spectacular slap in Putins face and a huge loss in logistics esp ability to send fuel to the western theaters (Kherson and Crimea) safely out of HIMAR range.

The future? I hope not an escalation to nukes, but logistics just got a whole lot harder for the Russians.

The second roadway and railway would still be operable.
