Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson’s relationship had an interesting run. The two started as one of the biggest music stars in the industry, until the two collaborated, shocking the world. In an unexpected twist of faith, the two even went to an employer-employee relationship that lasts even today.
Paul McCartney shared his thoughts on Michael Jackson buying The Beatles’ Catalog in an interview with Howard Stern back in 2001. The whole studio watched in amazement as Macca entered the room; it felt as great that something as huge of a rockstar as his become that day’s guest for the Howard Stern Show.
Stern go directly to the point, asking if it’s true that he’s the one who introduced Michael Jackson in the world of music publishing. It turns out, the “irony” of the situation would be Jackson buying the entire Beatles catalog, making him the boss of all the legendary songs created by the Fab Four.
McCartney first started to explain that the two had a “good little relationship,” where Michael first rang up to him and grabbed the opportunity to create songs. When Michael asked the musician if he could give some “advice” in music, Macca introduced him to the idea of going in the business of music publishing.
McCartney further explained: “I thought he [Jackson] was joking [when] he said, ‘Oh I’m gonna get yours.’ Well, I went ‘no, [laughing] slap you in the back, good one!’ I thought that was a joke.” It all came to him when someone rung him up and said that Jackson did buy the entire catalog of the Beatles.
Surprisingly, Macca didn’t mind that Jackson bought it, but what he didn’t like was the how the “Thriller” singer didn’t respond to him around the time he asked him for a raise. “[I] wrote him a couple of letters, saying: ‘Michael, don’t you think, even if I was just a writer on the payroll, after 30 years of being reasonably successful for this company you now own; don’t you think I could have a raise?’ he said, ‘Oh Paul, that’s just business.’”

The 26-year-old Provorov boycotted the pregame skate with his teammates before Tuesday night's game against Anaheim as the Flyers celebrated their annual Pride night in celebration and support of the LGBTQ+ community. He played nearly 23 minutes in Philadelphia's 5-2 victory.

⁣Washington Post Executive Editor Marty Baron and New York Times Executive Editor Dean Baquet sat down at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia last week for a rare joint interview with CNN Senior Political Commentator David Axelrod.


An edited version of interview aired Saturday on CNN's "The Axe Files," while the full interview is available as a podcast here. Pulitzer.org will post embeddable video footage from the interview as it becomes available.


In the discussion, Baquet and Baron expounded upon the media landscape of the Trump era. According to Baron, "I think this is a new situation for all of us. We were learning throughout the campaign and we are learning still during this administration. [...] [Y]ou know, Neil Postman wrote his book 'Amusing Ourselves to Death' [...] some decades ago about how we are moving toward the show quality of politics and that the show has become the thing.


"And I think the president actually understands that and uses that, uses that to his advantage. Some of the tweets are designed as distractions and some of the tweets are actually a window into his mind."


For Baquet, the president's rhetoric "has sent a message to despots abroad that you can disrespect the press. We’ve had presidents attack the press. We’ve never had a president go on foreign soil and attack the press so both of us have to manage newsrooms with people who operate in a third world. Both of us manage newsrooms with people who cover, you know, governments that don’t like the press."


He continued: "How can my correspondent in Cairo who covers a government that’s often antagonistic to the press — how can he make the case for the First Amendment and the power of the press and for covering that government independently when we have a president of the United States who says the things he says about the press?"


Despite these difficulties, both editors remain sanguine about press freedom in the United States. "[I]t's got to say something that our audiences have gotten larger," Baquet said. "That means that people in this sort of cacophony of stuff in the air and the fake news and the made-up stuff, that when people want to find out the truth, they do come to these institutions that have set themselves up [...] as standard bearers and as institutions that try to get at the truth and as institutions that have sort of, have held on to their soul. I think that’s, I mean, that’s great."

A post on Instagram has claimed that on 9/11, World Trade Center 7 collapsed “for no apparent reason”.

During the terror attacks of 11 September 2001, four planes were hijacked: two were flown into the Twin Towers, one into the Pentagon and another crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Two planes were flown into the North and South towers, part of the World Trade Center complex of seven buildings. Both towers collapsed shortly afterwards. World Trade Center 7 was a 47-storey building in the complex, which was not directly hit by an aircraft, and also collapsed later that day.

There are a number of reasons this building collapsed on the day, despite not being hit by planes, which have been described by investigators, scientists and experts since.

According to the US government’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which investigated the reasons behind the collapse for years, a number of fires are behind World Trade Center 7’s collapse.

NIST says that debris from the collapse of the North Tower ignited fires on at least 10 floors of World Trade Center 7, some of which burned out of control because the automatic sprinkler system for some floors had failed (partly due to city water lines damaged by the collapse of the Twin Towers).

Heat from the fires then caused steel support beams to expand which led to several floors collapsing. This then triggered a number of other structural failures, which eventually resulted in the whole building collapsing.

The theory that an explosion caused the building’s collapse was investigated, but no evidence of this was found.

It’s true that fire causing tall buildings to collapse is rare. NIST lead investigator Shyam Sunder told journalists at the time: “This is the first time that we are aware of, that a building taller than about 15 stories has collapsed primarily due to fires”.

Most of the home was damaged in the Thursday fire, which also seriously burned Travis Seymour and Matthew Anderson, both 34, according to the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office. They were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.Seymour’s 3-year-old child and wife, Lindsey Seymour, 32, were also home at the time of the blast, but were uninjured. The Seymours, who lived at the home, and Anderson, who was a guest, are suspected of producing the oil for sale, according to authorities.The video player is currently playing an ad.No arrests were made as the investigation was still underway, according to Capt. Mike Aranda. Child Protective Services was called, but the child was still with the family pending the outcome of the investigation, Aranda said.

⁣‘Content creator’ arrested for posting video involving a dog in Marion County: ‘It’s always shocking’

OCALA, Fla. (WCJB) - Marion County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a woman they say posted a video of herself engaging in sexual activity with a dog.

Deputies say the investigation into Logan Guminski, 27, began after the sheriff’s office received an anonymous tip on Jan. 28. The tipster reported Guminski posted a video to Instagram depicting sexual activity with a Chihuahua.

Detectives found several photos and videos of Guminski with the abused animal.

During an interview with Guminski, she admitted to making and selling the videos on the website “Fansly.” She referred to herself as a content creator.

She told detectives she sold the video to another user for $500 on Snapchat. She had videos of other dogs on her phone as well.

Detective Jordyn Batts of the Marion County Sheriff's Office investigated the case.

"Unfortunately this isn't my first case of this nature," said Batts. "It's always shocking, it'll never not be shocking especially when you have to watch the video but I have seen it before so it's not out of the ordinary unfortunately."

Guminski was booked into the Marion County Jail on March 21 on charges of sexual activity involving an animal and filming sexual activity involving an animal. She was released from jail after posting a $10,000 bond.

CORRECTION:

Marion County Sheriff’s Office officials incorrectly informed TV20 that the dogs had been removed from the home last Friday. We’ve since learned that deputies waited for Marion County Animal Control officers to arrive; however, officers didn’t take possession of the animals.

County officials tell TV20 that animal control needs a warrant to take the dogs. As of this report, court records don’t show a warrant filed. We’ll update this article when we learn more.
