One thing comes to mind, right off the bat, and that is the fact that strong evidence exists suggesting that up to three thermonuclear devices were detonated at the World Trade Center site on 9/11, hence the nickname “Ground Zero.”

Additionally it’s important to note that tritium is “extremely rare on Earth” and again — should not be found in at levels reported to be ’55 times higher than normal.’ And just to be clear, I am not saying that micro nukes were solely responsible for bringing down the towers — and IMO were likely only used at the base of Towers 1 and 2 and possible the base of building 7 and were strategically placed 50 feet below street level, somewhere in the basements of the buildings or subway access tunnels. This would also explain numerous eyewitness reports of “large” explosions in the basement or “lobby” of the towers.

It has also been proven that Nano-thermite was used and was present in dust samples, less than 2 microns in diameter, that were taken from the WTC site after the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks as pointed out early on by Richard Gage of the grassroots organization Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth.

Moreover there are also signs that advanced barometric bomb technology, which uses triggering devices derived from the U.S. Nuclear Weapons Program, was also deployed in the attack — technology which incorporates gaseous elements in a “yellowish, brownish combustible mixture” and uses Aluminum Silicate Red Oxide and other ingredients” that would have surrounded and permeated the air around key structural columns on all floors...

On August 5, 1992, family friend Casey Pascal’s babysitter, who was at Farrow’s home at the time of the alleged assault, told Pascal that she witnessed what she deemed an inappropriately intimate physical interaction between Woody Allen and Dylan in the living room. She gained notoriety for starting one of the most widespread rumors about the Obama family, claiming to a street reporter that the White House had LGBTQ+ leadership. According to Rivers, Michelle Obama is transgender, and Barack Obama is secretly gay. The "Fashion Police" host passed away just two months later, and the unfortunate timing of her death gave rise to another conspiracy theory that she was killed for revealing the "truth" about the Obamas (in reality, Rivers died due to complications from a vocal cord surgery).

Politifact dismissed the outlandish claim, pointing to a lawsuit filed by Joan's daughter, Melissa Rivers, against the doctors and clinic that operated on her mother for alleged malpractice. Moreover, taking a look at Rivers' history, this was far from the first time she'd publicly spoken about Michelle in an unflattering light. The "I Hate Everyone...Starting with Me" author was even publicly racist to the first lady. Rivers ultimately pulled the dodgy quip from her standup routine but she was more than happy to share it with shock jock Howard Stern.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — An Arkansas police officer has been fired after he was caught on video beating a handcuffed inmate in the back of his patrol car, and the police chief says he will refer the case to prosecutors.

Jonesboro Police Chief Rick Elliott fired Officer Joseph Harris on Friday, the day after Harris was caught on his patrol car video punching, elbowing and slamming the car door on an inmate being transferred from a local hospital back to the county jail.

Elliott reviewed the video after receiving a complaint from the county sheriff’s office about the incident. The department also posted the video on its YouTube page and announced the officer’s firing.

“I was just shocked and appalled by (Harris’) actions,” Elliott told The Associated Press on Monday. “Based on that conduct, I’m not going to have it and I’m not going put up with it, and immediately terminated him.”

A phone number was not listed for Harris, who had worked for the department for the past five years.

Billy Lee Coram, the inmate in the back of the patrol car, is wearing a hospital gown and choking himself with a seatbelt wrapped his neck as the car is moving in the roughly 12-minute video. After the car pulls over, Harris opens the door and punches and elbows Coram several times in the face as he unwinds the belt.

◦FEMA didn’t go to the hardest hit areas of the hurricane which needed EVERYTHING.

◦FEMA were sprouting up barely used nice trailers for themselves while victims were sleeping in tents, cars and sidewalks.

◦Red Cross set up 30+ shelters and ended up shutting down all, but one when there was still a need for them. Because of them shutting down shelters there’s hundreds of family still displace by the storm.

◦FEMA had cadaver dogs out but left quickly and used bulldozers and fires instead of body recovery.

◦Homeless population in the thousands drop to a couple hundred and heard on national news that there were only 102 deaths from this storm? Very inaccurate. The lady has had first hand accounts of counts much higher.

I hope these families of Hurricane Helene can get some help because it’s getting cold outside. I wonder if there’s anyway that those vacant trailers that aren’t being used can be given to these families.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

Tammany Hall, or simply Tammany, was the name given to a powerful political machine that essentially ran New York City throughout much of the 19th century. The organization reached a peak of notoriety in the decade following the Civil War, when it harbored "The Ring," the corrupted political organization of Boss Tweed.

After the scandals of the Tweed years, Tammany continued to dominate New York City politics and spawned such characters as Richard Croker, who may have killed a political opponent in his youth, and George Washington Plunkitt, who defended what he termed "honest graft."

The organization existed well into the 20th century, when it was finally killed off after decades of crusaders and reformers sought to extinguish its power.

Tammany Hall began modestly as a patriotic and social club established in New York in the years following the American Revolution when such organizations were commonplace in American cities.

The Society of St. Tammany, which was also called the Columbian Order, was founded in May 1789 (some sources say 1786). The organization took its name from Tamamend, a legendary Indigenous chief in the American northeast who was said to have had friendly dealings with William Penn in the 1680s.

The original purpose of the Tammany Society was for discussion of politics in the new nation. The club was organized with titles and rituals based, quite loosely, on Indigenous lore. For instance, the leader of Tammany was known as the “Grand Sachem,” and the club’s headquarters was known as “the wigwam.”

⁣The ordinary life and extraordinary death – broadcast around the world – of a local politician.

American politician R. Budd Dwyer had one of the most visible deaths of all time, committing suicide during a press conference that was being filmed (though not, as some have said, broadcast live). The footage of his death was subsequently shown, sometimes uncut, by news broadcasters around the world and screen-capped in newspapers. Later, it made its way into the ghoulish VHS underworld and then into Mondo style documentaries like Traces of Death. Samples of the audio have been used by Marilyn Manson and Cabaret Voltaire, and images of the suicide have been used by bands, artists and filmmakers with varying levels of sincerity. You can even get Dwyer T-shirts. The video footage itself is, of course, widely available online. It’s likely that Dwyer’s death is the most widely viewed suicide of all time. It’s probably not the legacy that he’d hoped for, though it was a sense of regard for his own reputation – not to mention a fear of imprisonment – that prompted him to take his own life in the first place.


Dwyer, born in 1939, had been a minor level politician, serving as a Republican member of the Pennsylvania State Senate between 1971 and 1981, before moving on to become the 30th Treasurer of Pennsylvania in January 1981, a position he held until his death.


His downfall came as a result of an overpayment of tax by state workers in Pennsylvania. When the mistake was discovered, compensation needed to be paid to each employee, and this required the services of an outside accountancy firm. Several firms put in bids for the contract and Dwyer was in charge of the process. One accountancy firm, Computer Technology Associates, was so keen to secure the $4.6 million contract that they offered Dwyer a bribe of $300,000. Dwyer accepted. This was not, in retrospect, a good idea.


As a result of an anonymous tip-off, federal prosecutors began an investigation and soon charged Dwyer, Computer Technology Associates head John Torquato, Jr, Troquato’s attorney William T. Smith, Smith’s wife, and Bob Asher, the former Republican Party Chairman for the State of Pennsylvania with corruption. Torquato and the Smiths quickly agreed to plead guilty and testify against Dwyer and Asher, in exchange for lighter sentences.

It was an open-and-shut case. Independent witnesses confirmed the story, computer files seized showed that Dwyer was to be paid the $300,000 and it was clear that CTA was not the best or cheapest accountancy firm available – a long-established local firm with more staff and a better reputation had put in a bid at half the cost of the CTA offer. Nevertheless, Dwyer maintained his innocence. He tried to cut a deal that charges would be dropped if he resigned as treasurer, but the case was too serious for that to be an option. Dwyer then refused a chance to plead guilty to a single count of bribery, which would have led to a maximum of five years imprisonment – a not insignificant length of time, but far less than he was facing if found guilty on all charges. Dwyer refused the deal and instead chose to go to trial, pleading Not Guilty. His defence was pretty weak – he didn’t take the stand and called no witnesses, and the unindicted conspirators could not be named in court, putting all the blame on Dwyer and Asher (who was found guilty and subsequently served one year in prison). Unsurprisingly, with the evidence against him, Dwyer was found guilty of eleven counts of conspiracy, mail fraud, perjury and interstate transportation in aid of racketeering on December 18th 1986, and was facing up to 55 years in prison. Merry Christmas!


Dwyer intended to appeal, and because state law said that he could not be removed from office until he was sentenced in January, he agreed to take an unpaid leave of absence. He wrote to President Ronald Reagan, asking for a Presidential pardon – this appeal was not successful, in part because all legal avenues such as appeal had yet to be explored. Dwyer was scheduled to be sentenced on January 23rd, 1987, and everyone expected him to be going to prison for a long time.

Dwyer called a press conference for January 22nd. The expectation amongst journalists was that he would use the opportunity to once again claim innocence, and then resign from office prior to sentence. Dwyer indeed did want to emphasise his innocence, and was resentful about journalists who he thought had written biased news stories about him, trying (unsuccessfully) to have them banned from attending the news conference. Given subsequent events, I suspect many were quietly relieved that he chose not to take out any perceived enemies with him.


The night before the news conference, Dwyer wrote “I enjoy being with Jo so much, the next 20 years or so would have been wonderful. Tomorrow is going to be so difficult and I hope I can go through with it.” He then packed a .357 Magnum in his bag and prepared for what was to come.


At 10.30am the next morning, a twitchy-looking Dwyer arrived to talk to a room full of journalists and camera crews. He took out a 21-page statement, which had not been shown to anyone in advance, and began to read. It was a rambling statement, in which he criticised those involved in the investigation and trial that he believed had unfairly ruined his career, and condemned the death penalty, expressing regret for his previous support of it. As press statements go, it was all over the place and full of wild accusations. Dwyer’s press secretary, James Horshack, was so alarmed at the allegations being made that he considered putting a stop to proceedings, before finally deciding to allow Dwyer to finish, planning to then brief the press to make it clear that he was not responsible for the possibly libellous content of the speech. The statement went on for half an hour, and the assembled journalists, suspecting that the expected resignation might never actually come, began to lose patience. Some even started to pack up to leave. Seeing this, Dwyer said “Those of you who are putting your cameras away, I think you ought to stay because we’re not, we’re not finished yet.”


Dwyer finally reached the final page of his statement:
I thank the good Lord for giving me 47 years of exciting challenges, stimulating experiences, many happy occasions and most of all, the finest wife and children any man could ever desire.
Now my life has changed for no apparent reason. People who call and write are exasperated and feel helpless. They know I am innocent and want to help, but in this nation, the world’s greatest democracy, there is nothing they can do to prevent me from being punished for a crime they know I did not commit. Some who have called have said that I am a modern-day Job.


Judge Muir is also noted for his medieval sentences. I face a maximum sentence of 55 years in prison and a $305,000 fine for being innocent. Judge Muir has already told the press that he felt “invigorated” when we were found guilty and that he plans to imprison me as a “deterrent” to other public officials. But it wouldn’t be a deterrent because every public official who knows me knows that I am innocent. It wouldn’t be legitimate punishment because I’ve done nothing wrong. Since I’m a victim of political persecution, my prison would simply be an American Gulag.


I ask those that believe in me to continue to extend friendship and prayer to my family, to work untiringly for the creation of a true justice system here in the United States, and to press on with the efforts to vindicate me, so that my family and their future families are not tainted by this injustice that has been perpetrated on me.


At this point, the assembled press expected him to finally resign – after all, had he not just admitted that, while still maintaining his innocence, his case was hopeless? There was, in fact, more of the speech left, but for some reason, Dwyer decided not to continue. The missing part of the speech revealed what he intended to do; had he read it, it’s possible that someone could have intervened before it was too late:


I’ve repeatedly said that I’m not going to resign as State Treasurer. After many hours of thought and meditation I’ve made a decision that should not be an example to anyone because it is unique to my situation. Last May I told you that after the trial, I would give you the story of the decade. To those of you who are shallow, the events of this morning will be that story. But to those of you with depth and concern the real story will be what I hope and pray results from this morning –in the coming months and years, the development of a true justice system here in the United States. I am going to die in office in an effort to ‘see if the shameful facts, spread out in all their shame, will not burn through our civic shamelessness and set fire to American pride.’ Please tell my story on every radio and television station and in every newspaper and magazine in the U.S. Please leave immediately if you have a weak stomach or mind since I don’t want to cause physical or mental distress. Joanne, Rob, DeeDee – I love you! Thank you for making my life so happy. Goodbye to you all on the count of 3. Please make sure that the sacrifice of my life is not in vain.


Instead of reading this section, Dwyer handed out sealed envelopes to three of his staffers – the contents included an organ donor card, funeral plans and letters to his family. As this happened the press watched, bemused. Just what was going on here?

The answer came quickly. Dwyer took a final envelope out, and from it pulled the .357 Magnum – the gun that Clint Eastwood warned would “blow your head clean off.” At this point, panic ensued – no one quite knew what Dwyer was planning or who he might point the gun at. He backed against the way, holding it in the air, saying “Please, please leave the room if this will … if this will affect you”, at which point everyone realised exactly what was happening. As some ran for help, others screamed and a few tried to run towards Dwyer to stop him. A panicked Dwyer shouted “Don’t, don’t, don’t, this will hurt someone” and then hurriedly placed the gun in his mouth and pulled the trigger. He died instantly.


Death in movies, no matter how good the special effects and how impressive the acting, can never quite capture the reality. One camera managed to close in on Dwyer as he slumped to the ground, blood pouring from the exit wound on the back of his head and, more distressingly, from his nose and mouth. His eyes were blank. Bud Dwyer would never go to prison, and would never be just another corrupt politician, quickly forgotten.


The footage was soon all over the news. Most broadcasters chose to cut the footage at the point when he took the gun out and placed it in his mouth. Astonishingly, several American news networks chose to broadcast the complete footage, some during the daytime and some without warning. There were hundreds of complaints, and Dwyer’s death might have been something of a watershed in terms of how exploitative news broadcasters could be.

Meanwhile, the Dwyer footage quickly became the stuff of legend. It could be manipulated and twisted to be anything you wanted – a warning about persecution, a study of mental breakdown, or a grotesque entertainment. You could even rewrite Dwyer’s story – the Chinese edition of Traces of Death has an excited narrator telling us that Dwyer is the head of a bankrupt firm, handing out redundancy notices before killing himself out of shame – a story that obviously worked for the local audience.


If Dwyer thought that his death would lead to further investigation and exoneration, then he would be disappointed. His guilt was reaffirmed in 2010. Whether the punishment suited the crime is doubtful, and Dwyer paid a very high price – indeed, would have paid a very high price even if he hadn’t killed himself – for what would seem to be a single moment of greed and weakness in an otherwise unremarkable and unblemished career. He was an ambitious man who had risen to a middling level of political success, and who clearly worried deeply about what people thought of him. Whether his death was a deliberate attempt at achieving immortality or changing what he saw as a corrupt legal system is open to question, though I rather doubt that his ongoing fame was anything he would wanted. But he is unlikely to be forgotten any time soon, and maybe that is better than nothing.

That a lot of voters are angry this year is a truism. What’s less clear as the campaigns head for big states like Ohio and Florida is the source of the anger.

Tom Edsall fingers the “end of net upward mobility” and the “shrinkage of the middle class.” Norman Ornstein points to the Wall Street bailouts after the financial collapse of 2008. And for that matter, Jared Bernstein of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities stresses the frustration of decades of stagnant to declining real wages for low- and middle-earning workers.

All of which seems about right. However, the Rust Belt geography of the nation’s anger suggests another, perhaps deeper, explanation for the populist rage that has driven Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders victories in primaries from New Hampshire to Michigan.

Reflecting decades of deindustrialization, it displays one of the most crucial sources of anger among working-class Americans—including those in upcoming primary states like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

In this regard, the chart traces not just the demolition of labor-intensive commodity manufacturing in America but also a crucial source of this year’s backlash against Wall Street, managerialism, and globalism especially in Rust Belt states.

According to these data, globalization, offshoring, and automation have since 1980 liquidated nearly 7 million manufacturing jobs in U.S. communities—more than one-third of U.S. manufacturing positions—as manufacturing employment plunged from 18.9 million jobs to 12.2 million. Moreover, as the chart depicts, while the trend is longstanding, it actually accelerated in the 2000s.

As to the labor-market, wage, and social impacts of these developments, they have been brutal—as is well-known. Notwithstanding the heralded consumer benefits of trade and deindustrialization, these trends have also created substantial adjustment costs and distributional consequences in the labor market, with much of the pain visited on blue-collar workers in manufacturing-oriented metro areas. Exacerbating all of this, meanwhile, was the onset of what the economists David Autor, David Dorn, and Gordon Hanson call the “China shock”— the period beginning in 1991 when local factories found their outputs competing directly with Chinese imports. Those wondering about the deepest sources of populist anger in 2016 will find no better guide than the same authors’ painstaking new analysis of the regional and worker impacts of the China shock. Autor, Dorn, and Hanson show that the arrival of cheap Chinese imports demolished manufacturing in scores of communities, produced widespread unemployment, disrupted workers’ careers, and depressed wages for years. Most poignantly, the scholars show that deindustrialization’s losers have experienced difficulty in exiting threatened jobs, a hard time finding and keeping new employment, an inability to relocate, and diminished lifetime earnings.

No wonder they are frustrated. Only recently stabilized, the decline of U.S. manufacturing remains the primal scene of economic dissatisfaction, and the impacts are still being felt.

In a major ruling, the Supreme Court on Friday cut back sharply on the power of federal agencies to interpret the laws they administer and ruled that courts should rely on their own interpretion of ambiguous laws. The decision will likely have far-reaching effects across the country, from environmental regulation to healthcare costs.

By a vote of 6-3, the justices overruled their landmark 1984 decision in Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council, which gave rise to the doctrine known as the Chevron doctrine. Under that doctrine, if Congress has not directly addressed the question at the center of a dispute, a court was required to uphold the agency’s interpretation of the statute as long as it was reasonable. But in a 35-page ruling by Chief Justice John Roberts, the justices rejected that doctrine, calling it “fundamentally misguided.”

Justice Elena Kagan dissented, in an opinion joined by Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson. Kagan predicted that Friday’s ruling “will cause a massive shock to the legal system.”

When the Supreme Court first issued its decision in the Chevron case more than 40 years ago, the decision was not necessarily regarded as a particularly consequential one. But in the years since then, it became one of the most important rulings on federal administrative law, cited by federal courts more than 18,000 times.

Although the Chevron decision – which upheld the Reagan-era Environmental Protection Agency’s interpretation of the Clean Air Act that eased regulation of emissions – was generally hailed by conservatives at the time, the ruling eventually became a target for those seeking to curtail the administrative state, who argued that courts, rather than federal agencies, should say what the law means. The justices had rebuffed earlier requests (including by one of the same lawyers who argued one of the cases here) to consider overruling Chevron before they agreed last year to take up a pair of challenges to a rule issued by the National Marine Fisheries Service. The agency had required the herring industry to pay for the costs, estimated at $710 per day, associated with carrying observers on board their vessels to collect data about their catches and monitor for overfishing.

The agency stopped the monitoring in 2023 because of a lack of funding. While the program was in effect, the agency reimbursed fishermen for the costs of the observers.

After two federal courts of appeals rebuffed challenges to the rules, two sets of commercial fishing companies came to the Supreme Court, asking the justices to weigh in.

The justices took up their appeals, agreeing to address only the Chevron question in Relentless v. Department of Commerce and Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo. (Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented in the Relentless case but was recused from the Loper-Bright case, presumably because she had heard oral argument in the case while she was still a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.)

Chevron deference, Roberts explained in his opinion for the court on Friday, is inconsistent with the Administrative Procedure Act, a federal law that sets out the procedures that federal agencies must follow as well as instructions for courts to review actions by those agencies. The APA, Roberts noted, directs courts to “decide legal questions by applying their own judgment” and therefore “makes clear that agency interpretations of statutes — like agency interpretations of the Constitution — are not entitled to deference. Under the APA,” Roberts concluded, “it thus remains the responsibility of the court to decide whether the law means what the agency says.”
