One of the dog walkers attacked in an attempted sexual assault near a Kooyong oval has revealed the horrifying demand her attacker made during the ordeal.

The man jumped from bushes and grabbed one of the two women in broad daylight near Righetti Oval about 11.30am Tuesday morning before the pair fought him off, aided by a pack of dogs that chased him into a nearby tunnel.

Speaking to Sky News on Thursday, one of the women described the moment the attacker made his intentions clear.

“That’s when he lunged at my friend and grabbed a hold of her neck and upper shoulders,” she said.

“Then he started walking over to me and talking.

“He was threatening me to get me into the tunnel and he wanted to have sex with me.”

The two women, aged 67 and 39, were walking along Gardiners Creek when the man leapt from bushes and grabbed one of them.

She managed to break free, but the man then turned his attention to the second woman, who also fought him off.

The Toorak and Glen Iris women, understood to be professional dog walkers, had numerous dogs with them at the time.

They released the dogs — ranging in size and breeds from small dogs and terriers to golden retrievers and mixed-breed rescue mutts — which gave chase to the man in dramatic footage ­obtained by the Herald Sun.

The hero dog pack chased the man into a nearby tunnel beneath the Monash Freeway.

Police said the man’s clothing was torn during the attack.

Footage from the scene shows at least six of the dogs pursuing the man as he fled, nearly tripping on at least two occasions before escaping into the tunnel.

The woman said she chose to focus on taking action rather than giving in to fear during the ordeal.

“I was thinking of all the different scenarios that could happen, but I was more trying to jump into action rather than focus on how scared I was,” she said.

“I’m just going to have to be a little bit more cautious. I mean, I always have been anyway. As a female, you always have to be alert.

“I’m not going to let it stop me from coming to the park that I enjoy so much and the dogs enjoy.”

The incident took place not far from a popular dog park.

On Wednesday one of the walkers, who wished to remain anonymous, said she would not let the incident deter her from returning to the popular spot.

“I was more sort of bewildered more than anything, and I think my fight mode kind of kicked in … I got shocked rather than scared,” she said.
“My dogs know who they need to be with and who they want to be with, so they know who their person is when they’re around them, and they always want to be there for them.”

A woman who witnessed the drama said she saw one of the dog walkers give the thumbs up, indicating she was OK.

Melburnians on Wednesday took to social media to congratulate the women on their decision to let the dogs free to chase off the man and also to applaud the dogs on their brave pursuit.

The Bayside sexual offences and child abuse investigation team ­released a facial composite of the man behind the assault.

He was described as being of African appearance and to have been wearing a black tracksuit, grey hooded top, white socks and slides, and carrying a large, bright blue backpack.

During the March 6 encounter, while in his vehicle outside the coffee shop, Garriga grabbed the child’s hand, put her hand down his pants, and requested the child perform oral sex on him. When the child refused, Garriga asked the child to kiss his genitalia and would not let the child leave until the child did so.A complaint is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty. Archaeologists have discovered an old military site that might support a story from the Bible about angels protecting Jerusalem.

Based on the story from about 2,700 years ago, God sent an angel to fight Assyrian soldiers who wanted to take over the Holy Land. The angel reportedly appeared among the enemy soldiers and defeated 185,000 of them in a single night.
Until this time, there has not been any archaeological proof that this extraordinary event, or even the battle itself, really occurred.

Archaeologist Stephen Compton now says that, using advanced mapping methods, he has uncovered further evidence supporting the occurrence of the legendary battle.

King Sennacherib of the Assyrian Empire invaded Jerusalem

The Assyrian Empire existed from 1365 to 609 BC. This was many centuries before Christ’s time. King Sennacherib of the Assyrian Empire led the invasion of Jerusalem to strengthen his control over trade routes through the Syrian Desert to the Mediterranean Sea.

Earlier, researchers found carvings on the walls of King Sennacherib’s palace. These depict his victory over Lachish, a city 42 miles south of Jerusalem.

The carvings provided a layout of the military base, which Compton compared with photographs from the 1910s of the same area, as reported by Daily Mail.

Compton observed a site matching the dimensions depicted on the palace walls. Ruins with remnants of a surrounding wall and pottery fragments were found. Through an extensive archaeological survey, Compton concluded that the site was deserted shortly after Sennacherib’s invasion. It remained uninhabited for over 2,600 years.

This discovery opens opportunities for locating additional military sites nearby, potentially revealing ancient cities devastated by the Assyrian Empire.

In 2021, Compton shared on X, previously Twitter, that he had pinpointed the exact locations of Sennacherib’s military camps. He described each camp as circular. These are situated just over a mile north of the old city walls. He also noted that, on historical maps, the camps were referred to as “Mudawwara,” an Arabic name.

The significance of these sites lies in their association with Sennacherib’s strategic planning for the invasion, as reflected by their Arabic name, Khirbet al Mudawwara. The name means “the ruins of the camp of the invading ruler.”

Prior to Compton’s discovery, only one other ancient military campsite had been found in the region.

Bible stories mention angels killing Assyrian soldiers

Three Bible stories—in Isaiah 37:36-38, 2 Kings 19:35, and 2 Chronicles 32:21—describe how Assyrian soldiers were killed the night before their planned attack on Jerusalem. In each account, the Israelite deity Yahweh sent an angel who moved through the camp while the soldiers slept, striking them down for threatening His followers.

Bible passage 19:35 from the book 2 Kings says: “And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the Lord went out and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred fourscore and five thousand; and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they were all dead corpses.”

The term “Angel of the Lord,” written in Hebrew as “malak Yahweh,” means “messenger of the Lord.” This angel was sent to protect Jerusalem after its ruler, Hezekiah, prayed to God for safety.

According to another version of the story, a plague killed the Assyrian soldiers. A Greek account claims mice invaded the camp during the night, chewing through the soldiers’ bowstrings and shield straps and leaving them defenseless.

That a lot of voters are angry this year is a truism. What’s less clear as the campaigns head for big states like Ohio and Florida is the source of the anger.

Tom Edsall fingers the “end of net upward mobility” and the “shrinkage of the middle class.” Norman Ornstein points to the Wall Street bailouts after the financial collapse of 2008. And for that matter, Jared Bernstein of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities stresses the frustration of decades of stagnant to declining real wages for low- and middle-earning workers.

All of which seems about right. However, the Rust Belt geography of the nation’s anger suggests another, perhaps deeper, explanation for the populist rage that has driven Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders victories in primaries from New Hampshire to Michigan.

Reflecting decades of deindustrialization, it displays one of the most crucial sources of anger among working-class Americans—including those in upcoming primary states like Wisconsin and Pennsylvania.

In this regard, the chart traces not just the demolition of labor-intensive commodity manufacturing in America but also a crucial source of this year’s backlash against Wall Street, managerialism, and globalism especially in Rust Belt states.

According to these data, globalization, offshoring, and automation have since 1980 liquidated nearly 7 million manufacturing jobs in U.S. communities—more than one-third of U.S. manufacturing positions—as manufacturing employment plunged from 18.9 million jobs to 12.2 million. Exacerbating all of this, meanwhile, was the onset of what the economists David Autor, David Dorn, and Gordon Hanson call the “China shock”— the period beginning in 1991 when local factories found their outputs competing directly with Chinese imports. Those wondering about the deepest sources of populist anger in 2016 will find no better guide than the same authors’ painstaking new analysis of the regional and worker impacts of the China shock. Autor, Dorn, and Hanson show that the arrival of cheap Chinese imports demolished manufacturing in scores of communities, produced widespread unemployment, disrupted workers’ careers, and depressed wages for years. Most poignantly, the scholars show that deindustrialization’s losers have experienced difficulty in exiting threatened jobs, a hard time finding and keeping new employment, an inability to relocate, and diminished lifetime earnings.

No wonder they are frustrated. Only recently stabilized, the decline of U.S. manufacturing remains the primal scene of economic dissatisfaction, and the impacts are still being felt.
