โฃYou'll Soon Be Eating Cloned Meat Without Knowing It

โ€œAs Health Canada prepares to permit the sale of products derived from animal cloning without mandatory labeling, consumers are poised to lose transparency regarding what they are consuming. The social and moral acceptability of this technology remains highly contentious, underscoring the need for enhanced communication and authentic consultation.โ€

Imagine savoring a steak from a cloned animal or sipping milk from a cloned cow. Thanks to investigative journalism by @ThomasGerbet of the @CBCNews, this impending reality has come to light, though many agricultural producer groups have not been directly consulted.

@GovCanHealth's recent round of consultations, conducted with minimal public awareness, suggests that these products may soon be available without consumers' knowledge, as there will be no mandatory labeling. The absence of such information on Health Canada's website only adds to the opacity surrounding "cloned products."

The consultation, which concluded on May 25th, focused on updating the "Policy on Foods Derived from Cloned Animals by Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer and Their Progeny." This update proposes that cloned products be exempt from pre-market evaluation under Part B, Title 28 of the Food and Drug Regulations. In contrast, nations like the United States, Japan, and New Zealand...

But what precisely is animal cloning? The process aims to create a genetic replica of an animal by replacing the nucleus of an unfertilized egg with that of a somatic cell from the donor animal, forming an embryo. This embryo is then implanted into a surrogate mother's uterus, where it develops to term.

Artificial insemination, a well-established industry practice, involves collecting sperm from a male and artificially introducing it into a female's reproductive system to facilitate fertilization, preserving genetic variability. Cloning, however, produces genetically identical animals, eliminating this variability.

From a food safety perspective, cloned products do not pose a threat to human health. However, the social and moral acceptability of cloning remains in question. It is doubtful that consumers will unconditionally accept this technology, especially in the absence of labeling. For traditional producers, the integration of cloned products into the market could also taint consumer perceptions across entire categories, particularly meat and dairy.

This situation mirrors the backlash against genetically modified salmon, which faced immediate retail rejection despite being deemed safe. Irrespective of the safety profile, it is crucial to explain the technology and ensure consumers comprehend the rationale and necessity for such practices, both for their benefit and that of the industry.

For the industry, the imperative to amend regulations is less evident. Cloning is an expensive process, and the argument that reduced production costs will translate into lower retail prices for consumers is tenuous at best.

Without mandatory labeling, offering consumers a truly informed choice becomes problematic. We have witnessed similar issues with genetic engineering and GMOs. Health Canada appears poised to embrace technological advancements impacting our agri-food sector without adequately considering consumer rights and preferences.

Quite shameful.

โฃWhat To Do If Your Pet Eats Your Stash | High Times

โฃWe recently looked into the rising phenomenon of treating pets with medical cannabis. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Centerโ€™s official position on pets and cannabis states: โ€œAt this point the ASPCA does not support using marijuana in pets for pain control. There have been no scientifically accepted studies comparing marijuana products to known pain control medications (opioids, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). In addition, research has not been able to adequately define what a safe and effective dose of marijuana would be due to the wide variety in product available.โ€

The clinical effects of THC ingestion in pets can include depression, listlessness, loss of motor coordination and balance, vomiting, hypothermia, agitation, diarrhea, drooling, urinary incontinence, seizures and, in a very few reported cases, coma or death. Thatโ€™s no fun for Fidoโ€”or for any responsible pet owner. So, just as you keep your edibles, dabs, hash and flowers away from kids, keep it off the coffee table so that Mr. Snix doesnโ€™t scarf it down and get all woozy. And hereโ€™s what to do if your pet does eat your stash:

1. Figure out what your pet ingested. Did he scarf down a joint? Heโ€™ll probably be okay. Did he snarf your 180 mg Bhang Bar? Chocolate can be fatally toxic to dogs, so Bowser may be doubly afflicted if he gobbled a cocoa-licious edible. Either way, play it safe: Donโ€™t wait for symptoms to start. Treat him yourself right away, or get him to a veterinarian.

2. If you choose to treat your precious pooch or kitty at home, give him activated charcoal orally. Itโ€™s a good idea to always have some on hand; you can buy it at most drug stores. The activated charcoal traps toxins as they move through the digestive system. Keep your sweetie warm and in a dark, quiet place, and have fluids at the ready if heโ€™s able to drink a little bit.

3. If youโ€™ve given your little guy activated charcoal and heโ€™s not showing signs of improvement, or is getting worse, take him to the vet right away. A veterinarian can put your pet on IV fluids and monitor him in case of more severe symptoms.

4. Be honest with the vet. Vets are not obligated to report marijuana poisoning, and they need to know whatโ€™s going on to properly treat your fur baby. Also, you donโ€™t want to pay for a bunch of tests just so the vet can figure out that the dog ate your weed.

5. Stay calm. Animals with marijuana poisoning rarely die. Just be a good buddy, speak in a soothing voice, let your critter know that youโ€™re there for himโ€”and keep your stash in a safer place in the future.

โฃโฃAmber Thurman's family to sue Georgia hospital over abortion death: 'Doctors had a duty to act'

Tโฃhe family of Amber Thurman, a Georgia woman who died after taking abortion drugs in 2022, plans to sue the Piedmont Henry Hospital, accusing doctors of failing to provide care and keeping Thurman's loved ones in the dark about her condition.

Thurman's family retained Attorney Ben Crump, a high-profile civil rights and personal injury lawyer. Last week, the family joined Crump for a news conference in Decatur, Georgia, to demand "justice" for the 28-year-old mother.

โฃA September ProPublica report suggested that physicians failed to provide Thurman with care due to confusion about Georgia's abortion law. Pro-life doctors, however, argue that removing Thurman's deceased unborn child, who was already dead by the time she arrived at the hospital, would not have violated the law.

Georgia's law prohibits most abortions after a fetal heartbeat becomes detectable, defining abortion as "the act of using, prescribing, or administering any instrument, substance, device, or other means with the purpose to terminate a pregnancy with knowledge that termination will, with reasonable likelihood, cause the death of an unborn child."

"Even under Georgia law, the doctors had a duty to act to save Amber," Crump stated at the conference. "She had taken the abortion pills and there were tissues left. There was no viable fetus or anything that would have prevented them from saving her life while she suffered."

VfB mentioned the PEDOPHOCRACY once, but I believe it was overshadowed by the accompanying information...so, without further ado, VfB presents to you...THE PEDOPHOCRACY by David McGowan

http://www.whale.to/b/pedophocracy.html

The Pedophocracy, Part I: From Brussels ...

"Paedophiles can boldly and courageously affirm what they choose ... I am also a theologian and as a theologian, I believe it is God's will that there be closeness and intimacy, unity of flesh, between people ... paedophiles can make the assertion that the pursuit of intimacy and love is what they choose. With boldness, they can say, 'I believe this is in fact part of God's will.'"

Ralph Underwager, 'expert' witness for the defense in scores of child abuse cases and former vocal member of the False Memory Syndrome Foundation, in an interview in Paidika (a pro-pedophilia publication), conducted in June 1991

press reports), or police complicity in the operation (according to any sort of logic).

Police seem to have routinely ignored tips that later proved to be accurate, including a report from Dutroux's own mother that her son was holding girls prisoner in one of his houses. In addition, key facts were withheld from investigators working on the disappearances and lines of communication were unaccountably broken, inexcusably hindering the investigation.

Police did search one of Dutroux's homes on no less than three separate occasions over the course of the investigation. On at least two of those occasions, two of the missing girls were being held in heinous conditions imprisoned in a custom-built dungeon in the basement. Nevertheless, the police searches came up empty, despite the fact that the investigating officers reported โ€œhearing childrenโ€™s voices on one occasion,โ€ according to the Guardian.

It was not until August 13, 1996, four years after the disappearances began, that authorities arrested Dutroux, along with his wife (an elementary school teacher), a lodger, a policeman, and a man the Guardian described as โ€œan associate with political connectionsโ€ โ€“ elsewhere identified as Michel Lelievre.

Two days later, police again searched Dutroux's home and discovered the soundproof dungeon/torture center. As CNN reported, three years earlier โ€œpolice ignored tips from an informant who said Dutroux was building secret cellars to hold girls before selling them abroad.โ€ And in 1995, the same informant had told police that Dutroux had offered an unidentified third man โ€œthe equivalent of $3,000 to $5,000 to kidnap girls.โ€

โฃ316.027โ€ƒCrash involving death or personal injuries.โ€”
(2)(a)โ€ƒThe
driver of a vehicle involved in a crash occurring on public or private
property which results in injury to a person other than serious bodily
injury shall immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the crash, or
as close thereto as possible, and shall remain at the scene of the crash
until he or she has fulfilled the requirements of s. 316.062. A person who willfully violates this paragraph commits a felony of the third degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
(b)โ€ƒThe
driver of a vehicle involved in a crash occurring on public or private
property which results in serious bodily injury to a person shall
immediately stop the vehicle at the scene of the crash, or as close
thereto as possible, and shall remain at the scene of the crash until he
or she has fulfilled the requirements of s. 316.062. A person who willfully violates this paragraph commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084.
(c)โ€ƒThe
driver of a vehicle involved in a crash occurring on public or private
property which results in the death of a person shall immediately stop
the vehicle at the scene of the crash, or as close thereto as possible,
and shall remain at the scene of the crash until he or she has fulfilled
the requirements of s. 316.062.
A person who is arrested for a violation of this paragraph and who has
previously been convicted of a violation of this section, s. 316.061, s. 316.191, or s. 316.193, or a felony violation of s. 322.34,
shall be held in custody until brought before the court for admittance
to bail in accordance with chapter 903. A person who willfully violates
this paragraph commits a felony of the first degree, punishable as
provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084,
and shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 4
years. A person who willfully commits such a violation while driving
under the influence as set forth in s. 316.193(1) shall be sentenced to a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 4 years.
(d)โ€ƒNotwithstanding s. 775.089(1)(a),
if the driver of a vehicle violates paragraph (a), paragraph (b), or
paragraph (c), the court shall order the driver to make restitution to
the victim for any damage or loss unless the court finds clear and
compelling reasons not to order the restitution. Restitution may be
monetary or nonmonetary restitution. The court shall make the payment of
restitution a condition of probation in accordance with s. 948.03.
An order requiring the defendant to make restitution to a victim does
not remove or diminish the requirement that the court order payment to
the Crimes Compensation Trust Fund under chapter 960. Payment of an
award by the Crimes Compensation Trust Fund creates an order of
restitution to the Crimes Compensation Trust Fund unless specifically
waived in accordance with s. 775.089(1)(b).
(e)โ€ƒA
driver who violates paragraph (a), paragraph (b), or paragraph (c)
shall have his or her driver license revoked for at least 3 years as
provided in s. 322.28(4).
1.โ€ƒA
person convicted of violating paragraph (a), paragraph (b), or
paragraph (c) shall, before his or her driving privilege may be
reinstated, present to the department proof of completion of a victimโ€™s
impact panel session in a judicial circuit if such a panel exists, or if
such a panel does not exist, a department-approved driver improvement
course relating to the rights of vulnerable road users relative to
vehicles on the roadway as provided in s. 322.0261(2).
2.โ€ƒThe
department may reinstate an offenderโ€™s driving privilege after he or
she satisfies the 3-year revocation period as provided in s. 322.28(4)
and successfully completes either a victimโ€™s impact panel session or a
department-approved driver improvement course relating to the rights of
vulnerable road users relative to vehicles on the roadway as provided in
s. 322.0261(2).
3.โ€ƒFor
purposes of this paragraph, an offenderโ€™s driving privilege may be
reinstated only after the department verifies that the offender
participated in and successfully completed a victimโ€™s impact panel
session or a department-approved driver improvement course.
(f)โ€ƒFor
purposes of sentencing under chapter 921 and determining incentive
gain-time eligibility under chapter 944, an offense listed in this
subsection is ranked one level above the ranking specified in s. 921.0022 or s. 921.0023 for the offense committed if the victim of the offense was a vulnerable road user.
(g)โ€ƒThe
defendant may move to depart from the mandatory minimum term of
imprisonment prescribed in paragraph (c) unless the violation was
committed while the defendant was driving under the influence. The state
may object to this departure. The court may grant the motion only if it
finds that a factor, consideration, or circumstance clearly
demonstrates that imposing a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment
would constitute or result in an injustice. The court shall state in
open court the basis for granting the motion.
(3)โ€ƒThe
stops shall be made without unnecessarily obstructing traffic, and, if a
damaged vehicle is obstructing traffic, the driver of the vehicle shall
make every reasonable effort to move the vehicle or have it moved so as
not to obstruct the regular flow of traffic. A person who fails to
comply with this subsection shall be cited for a nonmoving violation,
punishable as provided in chapter 318.
(4)(a)โ€ƒIn
addition to any other civil, criminal, or administrative penalty
imposed, a person whose commission of a noncriminal traffic infraction
or a violation of this chapter or s. 1006.66
causes or results in the death of another person may be required by the
court to serve 120 community service hours in a trauma center or
hospital that regularly receives victims of vehicle accidents, under the
supervision of a registered nurse, an emergency room physician, or an
emergency medical technician pursuant to a voluntary community service
program operated by the trauma center or hospital.
(b)โ€ƒNotwithstanding
paragraph (a), in addition to any other civil, criminal, or
administrative penalty imposed, a person whose commission of a violation
of s. 316.172(1)(a) or (b) causes or results in serious bodily injury to or death of another person shall be required by the court to:
1.โ€ƒServe
120 community service hours in a trauma center or hospital that
regularly receives victims of vehicle accidents, under the supervision
of a registered nurse, an emergency room physician, or an emergency
medical technician pursuant to a voluntary community service program
operated by the trauma center or hospital.
2.โ€ƒParticipate
in a victimโ€™s impact panel session in a judicial circuit if such a
panel exists, or if such a panel does not exist, attend a
department-approved driver improvement course relating to the rights of
vulnerable road users relative to vehicles on the roadway as provided in
s. 322.0261(2).
(5)โ€ƒThis section does not apply to crashes occurring during a motorsports event, as defined in s. 549.10(1), or at a closed-course motorsport facility, as defined in s. 549.09(1).

(1)โ€ƒAs used in this section, the term:
(a)โ€ƒโ€œSerious
bodily injuryโ€ means an injury to a person, including the driver, which
consists of a physical condition that creates a substantial risk of
death, serious personal disfigurement, or protracted loss or impairment
of the function of a bodily member or organ.
(b)โ€ƒโ€œVulnerable road userโ€ means:
1.โ€ƒA
pedestrian, including a person actually engaged in work upon a highway,
or in work upon utility facilities along a highway, or engaged in the
provision of emergency services within the right-of-way;
2.โ€ƒA person operating a bicycle, an electric bicycle, a motorcycle, a scooter, or a moped lawfully on the roadway;
3.โ€ƒA person riding an animal; or
4.โ€ƒA person lawfully operating on a public right-of-way, crosswalk, or shoulder of the roadway:
a.โ€ƒA farm tractor or similar vehicle designed primarily for farm use;
b.โ€ƒA skateboard, roller skates, or in-line skates;
c.โ€ƒA horse-drawn carriage;
d.โ€ƒAn electric personal assistive mobility device; or
e.โ€ƒA wheelchair.

โฃDark Knight - Where are we at here? It's about that time! GITMO MILITARY TRIALS TO BE TELEVISED - TRUMP: "we're gonna load it up with some bad dudes".

The House of Representatives moved Friday to make military commissions held at Guantanamo Bay more transparent by paving the way for proceedings to be broadcast online.

An amendment potentially broadening the publicโ€™s access to the proceedings was included in the 2020 National Defense Authorization Act considered on Capitol Hill.
Offered by Rep. Adam Schiff, California Democrat, the measure authorizes military judges at Guantanamo Bay โ€œto order arrangements for remote public viewing of the proceedings via internet.โ€

The amendment was passed by a voice vote and included in the version of the NDAA subsequently approved by the House.

Suspected terrorists have been held and tried at the U.S. military base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, since shortly following the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, though several barriers have prevented the public from staying on top of the proceedings held there.

Relatives of 9/11 victims, members of the media and others wishing to watch the military commissions at Gitmo must travel to the island or one of a handful of domestic military bases where the proceedings are viewable on closed-circuit television.

Mr. Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, introduced the amendment after a report he requested from the Government Accountability Office recommended that the military consider making the commissions available online.

โ€œThe military commissions at Guantanamo have been out of sight, and therefore out of mind, for far too long,โ€ said Rep. Schiff, the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.โ€As Guantanamo nears its third decade, and with trials still years away, it is all the more important that victimโ€™s families, the media and the public are able to follow the trials before the military commissions.

The version of the defense bill passed by the Democratic-controlled House was approved by a nearly party-line vote of 220-197.
