A National Guard Chinook helicopter's low landing at a relief camp in Western North Carolina resulted in over $100,000 in damage, ripping apart tents, supplies, and vehicles, and sending three people to the hospital.
When confronted, the officer in charge gave a casual "oops" and no details, leaving only the helicopter's tail number.
Later, a public affairs officer stepped in to apologize and offer information for filing a complaint.

I'm a Christian and I believe Jesus is our Lord and Saviour. But I can't help myself but think that this letter isn't authentic. First, in the gospels when the pharises bring Jesus in front of Pilate Pontius, Pilate speaks and acts like he never knew or even hear about Jesus, suggesting that Pilate couldn't knew Jesus before. Secondly, if Pilate would end his official letter to the Caesar with "Hallelujah" a jewish phrase, the Caesar would think Pilate is a traitor, preparing a revolution in Galilee. I might be wrong, I might be an unbeliever like Tomas was, but I think this letter isn't authentic. Anyway, regardless of this letter, Jesus is The One True God. Amen!

I work with a Jewish gentleman from Israel, both parents were born and raised in Israel. He has beautiful greenish blue eyes and olive skin as if he has a gentle tan and average brown hair. I lived in Germany for a while, I went to Spain on vacation and there were many Spaniards with blonde hair and blue eyes. Never assume anything.

The Bible nowhere gives a physical description of what Jesus looked like during His incarnation. The closest thing we get to a description is in Isaiah 53:2b, “He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to Him, nothing in His appearance that we should desire Him.” All this tells us is that Jesus’ appearance was just like any other man’s – He was ordinary-looking. Isaiah was here prophesying that the coming suffering Servant would arise in lowly conditions and wear none of the usual emblems of royalty, making His true identity visible only to the discerning eye of faith.

Jesus was and is both fully God, and fully man, and to separate the two is heresy. I also think that He probably did not have golden hair, being a jew, and that this letter us probably a fake, as are most or all of the vatican's relics. Stick to scripture and stop looking for signs and souvenirs.

I find it extremely difficult, explaining a personal transcendent experience to another, one risks in extreme cases, decapitation by those who are prisoners of the word, and do not see the immense greatness of God, beyond words and various descriptions. People say Jesus would have brown eyes, being from the middle east. My mom, ( passed at almost 101 yrs) had a dream one night. Jesus walked up to her, sat down on the bench beside her. Didn't say a word, just looked at her. I asked her what colour His eyes were. She said blue. So there you have it!

"His heroes", indeed Pilate was referring to Alexander the great, 300yrs earlier. Jesus in life had been a philosopher of history, and thus a teacher of ethics. It is said he retraced the steps of Alexander to see what actual effect Alexander left for himself.

I always took Pilate as a just man. Maybe, being a veteran, i relate more to the Romans than the Jews. I always found it interesting how Roman accounts of Jesus always portrayed him as righteous and maybe as something more. It was like, even non-believers could feel something about him. The fact that Pilate's quotation matches scripture put a smile on my face. The book is true.

Pontius Pilate's letter to Ceasar is an incredible read. He truly believed Jesus was the son of God and the way he described his conversation with Jesus was an eye opener.
Also Pilate was a Governor, not Ceasar and it was shocking how little the Roman's had control of Jerusalem and the Jewish people during that time.

I think that even though Jesus was born in the middle east, He is going to look just how God wants Him to look, dark hair or blondish hair, blue eyes or brown and I think its incredibly arrogant of us to assume we know how God made Jesus to look. There are albino people who'd normally have dark skin. God can and does do what He wants, I think its wise to remember that. Nor should physical traits matter. I think thats a point in this, there are no written accounts of his features...why? Because its not what mattered. Its who He is that matters.

Hasidic Jewish students charged in NYC synagogue tunnel digging scoff at plea offer: ‘Rather go to prison’
The Hasidic Jewish students who dug a secret tunnel under a Brooklyn synagogue said they’d rather go to prison than face a ban from the historic temple — as they rebuffed plea deals from prosecutors Thursday.
Nearly all of the 13 young men charged over the infamous hideout — which went viral when it was discovered in January — scoffed at the offer from the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office that would see them barred from the historic Crown Heights temple for three years.
“Being banned from 770 [Eastern Parkway] for three years is worse than jail,” one of the defendants, Yaakov Rothchild, told The Post in Hebrew through a translator, referring to the headquarters of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement.
Rothchild could face up to seven years behind bars on felony charges of second-degree criminal mischief if he takes his chances at trial.
He and 12 of his co-defendants — who face obstruction of justice charges — could be headed to trial in January if they fail to come to an agreement with prosecutors.
Rothchild’s attorney, Jonathan Fink, called the suggestion of a Jan. 13, 2025 trial “silly,” noting the magnitude of the cases, which charges the renegades — including rabbinical students — of hiding inside a hole in a wall they’d damaged and refusing to get out despite police orders, according to court documents.
Fink also shot down the deal on the table, saying it had “no chance” of being accepted, during a hearing in Brooklyn Supreme Court Thursday.
The agreement would have most defendants pleading down to fourth-degree criminal mischief, a misdemeanor, in exchange for no jail time. They would instead face a three year ban from the house of worship and either 20 days of community service or $5,000 in restitution.
Assistant District Attorney Frank Longobardi argued the ban was necessary, noting the defendants were caught posing with a sign that said “Expand 770” — a reference to the tunnel-digging at the synagogue — at their arraignments in April.
“It’s our concern, for that reason, that they’ve shown that they’re not going to stop doing that,” Longobardi said. “When this case is over, they’re going to do the same thing.”
Judge Adam Perlmutter acknowledged that both sides were at a stalemate, and wondered if the terms of the restraining order sought by prosecutors could be tailored to allow the students access to the synagogue.
But if any more tunnel-digging occurred, the defendants would be charged with criminal contempt and face jail, the judge warned.
“[If] somebody does so much as lifts a toothpick towards demolishing cement or whatever in that facility, that individual could very well face a year on Rikers, a year of incarceration,” Perlmutter said.
Only one defendant — Menachem Molekandov, who lives in Israel — is considering taking the prosecution’s deal, according to his attorney Levi Huebner.
Molekandov appeared virtually to plead guilty but there was a holdup on what type of community work he would do since the judge wants it to be “meaningful” service done outside of religious organizations.
When the judge reminded him that he must remain away from the synagogue, Molekandov, who has a warrant out for his arrest, reassured him that he wouldn’t go back.
“Your honor, I just want you to know — since I’m unable to go to the United States, there’s no way for me to dig any tunnels,” Molekandov said.
Chabad-Lubavitch, referred to as 770, is considered one of most sacred buildings in the Big Apple.
Sources have said that the group of rebels used shovels to dig a secret excavation under the house or worship beginning during the pandemic because higher-ups were slow to expand the synagogue’s sanctuary.
They first gained entry into a deserted Jewish man’s ritual bath on Kingston Avenue and then busted through a 2-by-2-foot metal gate in the former bath’s basement before digging their way under a sanctuary space used by women next door to the synagogue.
The wannabe miners also attempted to stop cement-truck workers from filling their excavation sites earlier this year in an effort to protect it when cops were called. Prosecutors said Thursday that the cement had since been filled.
The melee outside of the synagogue, that broke out when the students allegedly refused police orders to scram, was caught on video and quickly went viral.
The synagogue is a popular place for students to study the teaching of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, aka the “Rebbe,” who called on expanding the building before his death in 1994.
For Yerachmiel Blumenfeld, another defendant in the case, the synagogue is the “House of Rebbe” that isn’t just any regular temple.
“It’s a very important place where we learn, pray and connect with our leader. This is a very meaningful thing for us,” Blumenfeld said. “This particular synagogue has a bigger meaning to us than going to another synagogue.”

The NYPD says a vehicular ramming incident that sparked alarm among Jews in New York City was an accident.
Security footage circulating online shows a black minivan plowing into a group of women pushing strollers who appear to be Jewish.
Social media users claim the incident is a hate crime, but a police spokesperson says it was a “motor vehicle collision” that took place on Tuesday.
A 69-year-old man driving a 2014 Toyota made a right turn onto Nostrand Ave. at the Kings Highway intersection, striking three pedestrians, the NYPD tells The Times of Israel.
The intersection is next to the Kingsway Jewish Center and the area has a large Jewish population.
The accident caused injuries to two women, aged 62 and 56, and a 1-year-old boy, the NYPD says. Emergency responders took the injured to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition.
NYPD Deputy Chief Richie Taylor, the NYPD’s highest-ranking Orthodox Jewish officer, told The Times of Israel the collision was the result of “extreme inattention” on the part of the driver, who stayed on the scene and apologized after the incident.
“We don’t see anything about criminality,” Taylor said.
The incident surfaced a day after a ramming attack in New Orleans.

Who is Neely?
Jordan Neely, 30, a homeless man, was strangled aboard a northbound F train just before 2:30 p.m. on May 1, according to police.
He reportedly started acting erratically on the train and harassing other passengers before being restrained and ultimately choked by a straphanger, identified as a 24-year-old Marine from Queens.
The Marine, who was seen on video applying the chokehold, was taken into custody and later released but the DA is mulling charges, which could include involuntary manslaughter, according to experts.
Why is there fallout over Neely’s death?
The city medical examiner ruled Neely’s death a homicide, noting he died due to “compression of neck (chokehold).” This will be weighed during the investigation into whether charges will be brought for Neely’s death.
Neely’s aunt told The Post that he became a “complete mess” following the brutal murder of his mother in 2007. She noted he was schizophrenic while suffering from PTSD and depression.
“The whole system just failed him. He fell through the cracks of the system,” Carolyn Neely said.
Law enforcement sources said Neely had “numerous” arrests on his record, including for drugs, disorderly conduct, and fare beating.
At the time of his death, Neely had a warrant out for his arrest for a November 2021 case in which he was accused of assaulting a 67-year-old woman in the East Village, the sources said.
Mayor Eric Adams has said it’s important for the DA to complete the investigation into Neely’s death and not rush to conclusions.
