Alittle-known chapter of Jewish American history concerns the Jewish gangsters of the 1920s and 1930s. Some of the men involved had brief gangster careers, using organized crime as a way to get ahead financially, and then dropping out of the game once they had amassed a reasonably large sum of money. Others were more entrenched in the mob; swept up in the speakeasy movement during Prohibition, they continued to make money off of bootlegged liquor, prostitution rings, gambling, racketeering, loan sharking, and a murder-for-hire business popularly known as Murder Inc.
The best known Jewish gangsters were Bugsy Siegel, Louis “Lepke” Buchalter, Longy Zwillman, Moe Dalitz and Meyer Lansky. Though they wielded incredible power in America’s big cities for many years — Meyer Lansky once said that he and his colleagues were, “bigger than U.S. Steel” — their numbers thinned considerably as World War II came to an end. Many were hunted down by the authorities, and jailed or executed, but some were never caught.
None of these men were religiously observant, and they scorned many of the core values of Judaism. But in a few critical moments they lent their power to Jewish causes in America, Nazi Europe, and Palestine. Far from heroes, Jewish mobsters have come to be seen as something of a novelty in Jewish history, though their corrupt legacy continues in Israel, which struggles with Jewish-run organized crime even today.
Jews Gone Bad
Jewish gangsters used organized crime to escape the ghetto and move on to lives of violence, politics, and danger. Louis “Lepke” Buchalter, Meyer Lansky, and Benjamin “Bugsy” Siegel are only a few of the Jewish gangsters who exerted significant influence on American life between the wars.
Detroit’s Purple Gang
Originally formed around Samuel “Sammie Purple” Cohen, the leadership of this group of petty criminals was assumed by the three Bernstein brothers–Abe, Isadore, and Ray–who emigrated to Detroit’s east side from New York. Starting with shoplifting and extortion, the gang moved into the distilling and brewing business in the 1920s and 1930s.

A wealthy elite named Francis Shelden would take unfortunate youth to an island with other elites called North Fox Island to abuse and film them.

Shelden came from a very wealthy background and many elites would visit the island to specifically to sexually abuse children. How big was this elite circle of child predators?

North Fox Island, just off the coast of Michigan, was a small, private island, that was filled with lodges or "cabins" with movie production type of equipment and many dark types of movies were alleged to be made, which included the sexual abuse of children, blackmailing elites, and snuff films.

There is also an infamous murder case that has deep parallels to this case were tons of children were being found dead who were sexually abused and left on roadsides all around the area.

Sheldon was eventually caught in 1978, he fled to the Netherlands to avoid prosecution. Another individual who was a teacher was also caught and charged who has now passed away.

This is around the same time that Jeffery Epstein came out of nowhere and basically took Francis Sheldon's spot, whether he was connected or not. Epstein rubbed shoulders with all the elite.

Nobody knew where Epstein came from, how he had his connections, or where his money came from.

There are more Epsteins and more islands with the same kind of dark happenings to this day. Some have been shut down already, and others are still operating.

Chuck’s role as Chairman of the Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies subcommittee allows him to fight for funding for the Chickamauga Lock, a critical East Tennessee infrastructure project. In addition, this subcommittee assignment is of paramount importance to the northern region of the Third District, which is home to Oak Ridge National Lab, Y-12 National Security Complex, and a large environmental cleanup mission, all of which rely on funds appropriated by this subcommittee.
Chuck and his wife, Brenda, live in Ooltewah, Tennessee, and have three boys: Chuckie, Jamie, and Jeffrey.
