The non-binary former Biden official fired after he was caught stealing luggage at an airport had a hand in crafting policy that would prevent 'unaffirming' parents of transgender grade school students from knowing about their child's gender identity.

Sam Brinton, 35, who uses 'they/their' pronouns, no longer has their Department of Energy job after they were accused of stealing luggage in two separate incidents.

Prior to becoming one of the federal government's first non-binary officials, they worked at the LGBTQ youth suicide prevention group The Trevor Project.

While there, Brinton helped craft 'Model School District Policy on Suicide Prevention' that included guidelines on telling parents about LGBTQ+ children.

The policy paper was done in conjunction with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the American School Counselor Association and the National Association of School Psychologists.

It establishes rules against what schools can keep their parents informed on and gives school mental health professionals the decision of what they should be informed about regarding their children.

It reads: 'While parents and guardians need to be informed and actively involved in decisions regarding the student's welfare, the school mental health professional should ensure that the parents' actions are in the best interest of the student (e.g., when a student is LGBTQ and living in an unaffirming household).'

They go on to argue that parents should not be informed of their child's gender identity or sexual orientation 'unless the student consents.'

It continues by saying that research shows LGBTQ youth are at a higher risk of suicide, depression or drug use if their identity is not supported by their families.

In a major ruling, the Supreme Court on Friday cut back sharply on the power of federal agencies to interpret the laws they administer and ruled that courts should rely on their own interpretion of ambiguous laws. The decision will likely have far-reaching effects across the country, from environmental regulation to healthcare costs.

By a vote of 6-3, the justices overruled their landmark 1984 decision in Chevron v. Natural Resources Defense Council, which gave rise to the doctrine known as the Chevron doctrine. Under that doctrine, if Congress has not directly addressed the question at the center of a dispute, a court was required to uphold the agency’s interpretation of the statute as long as it was reasonable. But in a 35-page ruling by Chief Justice John Roberts, the justices rejected that doctrine, calling it “fundamentally misguided.”

Justice Elena Kagan dissented, in an opinion joined by Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson. Kagan predicted that Friday’s ruling “will cause a massive shock to the legal system.”

When the Supreme Court first issued its decision in the Chevron case more than 40 years ago, the decision was not necessarily regarded as a particularly consequential one. But in the years since then, it became one of the most important rulings on federal administrative law, cited by federal courts more than 18,000 times.

Although the Chevron decision – which upheld the Reagan-era Environmental Protection Agency’s interpretation of the Clean Air Act that eased regulation of emissions – was generally hailed by conservatives at the time, the ruling eventually became a target for those seeking to curtail the administrative state, who argued that courts, rather than federal agencies, should say what the law means. The justices had rebuffed earlier requests (including by one of the same lawyers who argued one of the cases here) to consider overruling Chevron before they agreed last year to take up a pair of challenges to a rule issued by the National Marine Fisheries Service. The agency had required the herring industry to pay for the costs, estimated at $710 per day, associated with carrying observers on board their vessels to collect data about their catches and monitor for overfishing.

The agency stopped the monitoring in 2023 because of a lack of funding. While the program was in effect, the agency reimbursed fishermen for the costs of the observers.

After two federal courts of appeals rebuffed challenges to the rules, two sets of commercial fishing companies came to the Supreme Court, asking the justices to weigh in.

The justices took up their appeals, agreeing to address only the Chevron question in Relentless v. Department of Commerce and Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo. (Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented in the Relentless case but was recused from the Loper-Bright case, presumably because she had heard oral argument in the case while she was still a judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.)

Chevron deference, Roberts explained in his opinion for the court on Friday, is inconsistent with the Administrative Procedure Act, a federal law that sets out the procedures that federal agencies must follow as well as instructions for courts to review actions by those agencies. The APA, Roberts noted, directs courts to “decide legal questions by applying their own judgment” and therefore “makes clear that agency interpretations of statutes — like agency interpretations of the Constitution — are not entitled to deference. Under the APA,” Roberts concluded, “it thus remains the responsibility of the court to decide whether the law means what the agency says.”

A day after a lone shooter attempted to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a Pennsylvania campaign rally, Jack Black sang “Happy Birthday” to his bandmate, Kyle Gass, at the duo’s concert in Australia. The two make up the band Tenacious D.

Black told Gass to “make a wish,” and Gass said, “Don’t miss Trump next time.”

Thomas Matthew Crooks, who shot at Trump, hit the former president’s ear with a bullet in what the FBI swiftly deemed an assassination attempt. Crooks was shot and killed by the authorities shortly after. Corey Comperatore, a Pennsylvania man at Trump’s rally, was also shot and killed.

Gass’s remark was called out, used as proof that the condemnation of the shooting coming from Trump’s opponents is hollow.

The video comes from a now-deleted TikTok, which was then shared on X by Greg Price, who works in communications for the State Freedom Caucus Network, a Republican organization.

Price has also written for the Daily Caller, a right-wing news outlet founded by Tucker Carlson.

“Jack Black went on stage with his band over the weekend and his bandmate said ‘don’t miss Trump next time’ to laughs from the audience,” Price tweeted. “A month ago, he was a featured speaker at Biden’s fundraiser in Los Angeles. ‘We must come together’ indeed.”

As referenced by Price, Black spoke at a June fundraiser for President Joe Biden’s campaign. In his speech, he said, “When democracy is at stake, Jack Black answers the call.”

Biden’s glitzy Hollywood fundraiser brought in tens of millions in contributions but also may have set the stage for recent backlash against his candidacy.

Price’s reference to “we must come together” seems to be about remarks Biden has made in the aftermath of the assassination attempt: On Saturday night, Biden said “Everybody must condemn” the violence, and last night he said Americans should be “standing together.”

Many responses to Price’s tweet expressed that Gass was out of line and trying to “incite violence.”

“That’s incitement to violence,” one X user replied. “He should be charged.”

“By ‘come together,’ the left means ‘obey me or I’ll kill you,’” another X user said.

And other right-wing figures have also tweeted about Gass’s statement.

“Wow. Jack Black laughs as his friend makes a birthday wish that they ‘don’t miss Trump next time.’ Jack was just @JoeBiden’s guest of honor and speaker at his Hollywood fundraiser,” Robby Starbuck tweeted. Starbuck ran for Congress as a Republican in Tennessee. “Biden supporters are inciting another attempt to assassinate President Trump. Evil and sick.”

“Jack Black’s band mate is garbage,” conservative commentator Drew Hernandez tweeted. “These people are doubling down on wanting Trump taken out because they know someone will respond.”

Chris Loesch, who is married to conservative radio host Dana Loesch, also tweeted saying that he will no longer be listening to Black’s band or watching his movies after what Gass said.

⁣WHAT ARE REFINED OILS AND WHICH ONES SHOULD YOU AVOID?

Let’s begin by clarifying that healthy fats are an essential part of healthy living. But not all fats are created equal.

Olive oil, for example, that is UNrefined, uses olives that have been pressed to extract the oil. There ARE health benefits to using pure, unrefined olive oil.

With that being said, let’s dive a little deeper in the refining process.

Definition: Oil that has been refined has been altered by using chemicals that are harmful to us. In short it means to ‘purify’.

But the meaning of purify has many definitions. It may mean the oil was treated with acid, or purified with an alkali, or bleached. It can also be neutralized, filtered or deodorized. All of which require chemicals like Hexane.

In the process of making and refining these types of oils, it leads to PUFas (rancid polyunsaturated fatty acids) which DO NOT hold up well to high heats. In the process of being extracted from the seed these oils oxidize and turn into trans fats. The smell is so rancid that a cleaning process has to take place using bleach to deodorize it.

REFINED OILS YOU SHOULD AVOID:

Canola oil
Vegetable oil
Soybean
Safflower
Corn oils
Margarine (or any other ‘buttery’ spread)

As dangerous as refined oils can be to our health, even more dangerous is the repeated use of Hydrogenated oils (Crisco and margarine). These are some of the most dangerous products on the market today! They have been BANNED in 2 European countries, but are still deemed safe in the United States.

Hydrogenated oil is made by forcing hydrogen gas into oil at high pressure. The more solid the oil is the more hydrogenated the end product, such as margarine and Crisco or lard.

When hydrogenated oils are made the healthy fats are converted into a new type of fat, known as trans fat. This is one subject that has overwhelming support from Doctors, scholars, and scientists alike.

Trans fats should be avoided while healthy fats (found in olive oil, nuts and avocados) should be eaten.

Trans fats are so bad for you, the FDA estimated approximately 95% of prepared cookies, 100% of crackers and 80% of frozen breakfast products contained trans fats [source: Govt Publishing Office]

Now that trans fats have to be labeled on products, most companies have removed them from their products. Sneaky, huh?

WE CAN CONTROL WHAT WE BUY AND PREPARE IN OUR OWN HOMES, BUT WHAT IF WE DINE OUT? HOW CAN WE KNOW WHAT TYPES OF OILS RESTAURANTS ARE USING?

California’s governor recently signed legislation to phase out trans fats from restaurants and baked goods in bakeries [Natl Conference of State Legislatures] and New York city became the largest city in the nation to demand restaurants, cafeterias and schools go trans free.

The best advice I can give is to ASK. Don’t be shy to ask the waiter if the salad dressing is made in house or store bought. Ask what types of oils they use when they cook. Don’t turn a blind eye.

Most restaurants will put the bottom line (their profits) over your health. I hate to say that, but it’s true.

SO WHICH OILS ARE SAFE THEN?

1. Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Although Extra virgin olive oil contains a high amount of saturated fat (about 12%) it is one of the few unrefined oils. This means the antioxidants in the original fruit are retained because the oil is extracted by machine only.

Olive oil is usually good 3-12 months after it has been bottled. After 2 years you can expect the fruity flavors to begin disappearing. It is best to buy your oil from a local store that specializes in oils. Purchase them in smaller quantities so they are not sitting in your pantry for months. And NEVER store them over the stove. Keep the bottle sealed and avoid light if possible.

2. Olive oil

This can be tricky because plain olive oil is usually a blend of refined, virgin and extra virgin olive oils. Read the label to know what you are getting.

3. Organic Butter

Butter, like eggs and coconut oil, have been given a bad rap. These are the same marketers who said aspartame and margarine were healthy choices! Butter is a good, safe, WHOLE FOOD choice.

The best choice would be butter from raw milk grass fed cows and the second choice, which is more accessible to most of us, is organic, which is from milk of grass fed cows with NO rBGH injected into them.

4. Coconut oil

Coconut oil is the least fattening of all oils. It got a bad rap back in the 1970s, but the misinformation out there is outdated and coconut oil is one of the better oils for you.

A disturbing video of a fake President Donald Trump shooting, assaulting and stabbing his critics and the media was played at a conference held by a pro-Trump group at his Miami resort last week, according to footage obtained by The New York Times.

The video, which was shown at Trump’s National Doral Miami during a three-day conference held by American Priority, includes the logo for Trump’s 2020 reelection bid and showcases a series of internet memes, the Times reported. One part of the video, the Times said, shows a fake Trump’s head edited onto the body of a man opening fire in the “Church of Fake News” on a group whose faces were edited to appear as a group of Trump critics and news organizations.

According to the Times, the clip ends with Trump driving a stake into the head of a person who has the CNN logo for a face before standing and smiling as he looks around. The clip appears to be edited from a church massacre scene in the 2014 movie “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” the Times reported.

CNN cannot independently verify the video as of Sunday night and has not shared contents of it. CNN has confirmed the video was played at the conference and not in the main ballroom.

“Sadly, this is not the first time that supporters of the President have promoted violence against the media in a video they apparently find entertaining – but it is by far and away the worst. The images depicted are vile and horrific,” CNN said in a statement Sunday night. “The President and his family, the White House, and the Trump campaign need to denounce it immediately in the strongest possible terms. Anything less equates to a tacit endorsement of violence and should not be tolerated by anyone.”

The organizer for the conference said in a statement posted on American Priority’s website that “an unauthorized video was shown in a side room” at the festival, but that “this video was not approved, seen, or sanctioned” by the festival’s organizers.

“AMPFest19 always has and always will condemn political violence,” Alex Phillips, organizer of the event, said in the statement. The statement did not indicate who was responsible for showing the video. The statement did not indicate who was responsible for producing or showing the video.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said in a statement Monday morning on Twitter that the President had not seen the video but would “shortly.” Grisham said that “based on everything [Trump] has heard, he strongly condemns this video.”

Tim Murtaugh, a spokesman for Trump’s campaign, told the Times he didn’t know anything about the video. “That video was not produced by the campaign, and we do not condone violence,” he said.

Phillips, the organizer for the event, said in a statement to the Times on Sunday that the clip was played at the conference as part of a “meme exhibit.”

“Content was submitted by third parties and was not associated with or endorsed by the conference in any official capacity,” Phillips said. “American Priority rejects all political violence and aims to promote a healthy dialogue about the preservation of free speech. This matter is under review.”

Former White House press secretary Sarah Sanders and the President’s son Donald Trump Jr. were scheduled to speak at the conference, the Times said. Sanders told the newspaper she did not see the video and a person close to Trump Jr. told the Times that he did not see it either.

“I was there to speak at a prayer breakfast, where I spoke about unity and bringing the country together,” Sanders told the Times. “I wasn’t aware of any video, nor do I support violence of any kind against anyone.”

The White House Correspondents’ Association weighed in on the video Sunday night, saying, “All Americans should condemn this depiction of violence directed toward journalists.”

“The WHCA is horrified by a video reportedly shown over the weekend at a political conference organized by the President’s supporters at the Trump National Doral in Miami. All Americans should condemn this depiction of violence directed toward journalists and the President’s political opponents,” said Jonathan Karl, president of the association. “We have previously told the President his rhetoric could incite violence. Now we call on him and everybody associated with this conference to denounce this video and affirm that violence has no place in our society.”
