Monkey spotted at Florida Popeyes drive-thru: ‘Weirdest thing I’ve ever seen’

Maybe he just loves that chicken from Popeyes?

A loose monkey has been spotted in Central Florida, with the elusive simian recently seen scaring a woman working at a Popeyes drive-thru window.

“I look over and I’m like, ‘Is this real? This cannot be possible,’” employee Kimberly Bialobos told FOX 35 after seeing the monkey on Wednesday morning.

“This is the weirdest thing I’ve ever seen.”

Bialobos said the monkey appeared near the restaurant on Enterprise Road, in Orange City, at around 9:30 a.m.

She noted that the monkey appeared to know how to navigate the streets, avoiding a busy road before disappearing from view.

The sighting came less than two hours before the Orange City Police Department revealed they received multiple calls about the monkey roaming the streets.

“The monkey… has been identified as a wild Rhesus Macaque monkey,” police said in a statement. “Please DO NOT feed or attempt to capture these monkeys!”

City officials said they have been in contact with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regarding the loose animal.

It is unclear if more than one monkey is on the loose.

Police have urged residents to contact the Wildlife Alert Hotline at 1-888-404-FWCC if they come across the monkey.

The state FWCC lists the rhesus macaque as a “nonnative species in Florida and is not protected except by anti-cruelty law.”

The agency warns that the monkey “may become aggressive” when fed.

The species is fairly common in the Silver Springs State Park, located about 60 miles away, which was estimated to hold 190 macaques in 2015, according to the FWCC.

It's not the graphics that should shock anyone, it's witnessing those last couple moments of a man intent, but still hesitant.
For me that's the hardest to watch.

Like most kids, I saw this live since we had off from school due to snow. I knew exactly what he was gonna do with the gun once he pulled it out. I thought for sure they'd cut to commercial, but they didn't. The local news had psychiatrists on for the people (young kids especially) who watched it. I thought for sure my father was gonna kill me because I begged my mother to take me to the library earlier that day to get some Hardy Boys books in the snowstorm. Fortunately, that didn't happen. My father was down the hall & heard the gunshot since he worked for Budd. I was 10 at the time and I'll never forget what I saw that day.

There was a political corruption scandal in Pennsylvania and he unjustly became the scapegoat. He was framed, tried, and convicted of a crime he did not commit. He was about to go to jail for something that has now been proven he was innocent of. Instead of being thrown in jail by the real wrongdoers, he chose to take his own life in protest.
He wrote that the real reason for his suicide was to raise awareness of corruption in the justice system.

I saw this years ago...the whole thing. This haunted me for years. I heard that later, he was found to have done absolutely nothing wrong....God bless his family, for this must have been the worst thing ever. He was so kind that he didn't want anyone else to get hurt by accident....this haunted my heart, and likely always will...I wish I could unsee it....poor poor man.
You can tell that towards the end of his speech it went from talking about his legacy to talking about his life on earth (47 years), i would think at that stage of the interview press and media would have started to wonder what he was going on about, the interview went from a resignation speech to basically a suicide note as it got more perplexing by the minute. No one would have expected what was to happen however, quite a shocking thing to witness.

This is so wrong on every conceivable way. Budd Dwyer's suicide shows not only what is wrong with politics and law but, everything else that is wrong with the world.

“Call 911!! Per The WV Dept of Environmental Protection, they have requested that anybody experiencing these issues call 911 immediately and have their local fire department respond. They also advise to shut doors and windows and avoid outdoors at this time as a common sense approach until it can be identified,” a post on the page read."

In a later post, the page stated “EPWF is an informational venue. While we may not agree with the DEPs assessment to call 911 to have local FDs respond; it is, in fact, the requested action by the governing agency responsible. We are just passing that information on. If you believe WV DEP response was inadequate or overkill, please contact them directly.”

Jefferson County, WV Homeland Security and Emergency Management posted that “our office has been following the reports of the dust seen throughout the Eastern Panhandle of WV. The attached post from one of the meteorologists connected with a TV station in WV seems to be able to provide some knowledgeable insight into the observations. We will be following up with further information from the State as it becomes available.”

They pointed to another local meteorologist, Spencer Adkins, who wrote “clearly ‘stuff in the air’ is a concern anywhere in the entire region after East Palestine but satellite scientists pointed the dust plume out early Thursday because it was pretty evident. Think how we often see smoke from fires even farther west in summer.”

An 87-year-old woman has been sentenced to prison after she claimed that Jews were never exterminated in Auschwitz. Her criminal record includes two fines and another sentence for sedition.

A court in Detmold on Friday sentenced Ursula Haverbeck to eight months in jail on charges of sedition. The presiding judge ruled out the possibility of parole and said that Haverbeck had a lack of "any kind of respect" and that she had made more offensive comments in the courtroom.

Haverbeck is expected to appeal against the sentencing. In Germany, anyone who publicly denies, endorses or plays down the extermination of Jews during Adolf Hitler's regime can be sentenced to a maximum of five years in jail.

Haverbeck was found guilty of writing a letter to Detmold's mayor, Rainer Heller, saying it was "clearly recognizable" that Auschwitz was nothing more than a labor camp. She wrote her message at the time when the Detmold court was trying Reinhold Hanning, a former guard who served at the Auschwitz concentration camp.

The 94-year-old was sentenced to five years in prison after the court found him guilty of being an accessory to the murder of 170,000 people, mostly Jews. Haverbeck spoke about Hanning's trial in her letter, alleging that the witnesses at the trial were set up to prove the existence of the concentration camp.

Ursula Haverbeck is known for her right-wing extremist views. Several courts have sentenced her and her punishments include two fines and another suspended sedition sentence. She was on trial last year for saying that the Holocaust was "the biggest and longest-lasting lie in history."

An estimated 6 million Jews were exterminated across Europe under Adolf Hitler's dictatorship.

⁣Have you heard of the Dead Internet Theory? It’s been gaining traction on the site formerly known as Twitter, now X.

What Is The Dead Internet Theory?

The Dead Internet Theory is the belief that the vast majority of internet traffic, posts and users have been replaced by bots and AI-generated content, and that people no longer shape the direction of the internet.

The theory was floating around 4Chan in the late 2010s, but it was solidified and amplified in 2021 after a lengthy post describing the theory was posted on a thread titled "Dead Internet Theory: Most Of The Internet Is Fake," on the forum Agora Road's Macintosh Cafe.

Writing about the theory for The Atlantic, Kaitlyn Tiffany described the post as the “ur-text,” setting the shape of the theory to come. Tiffany even managed to contact the original poster, a Californian man who claimed to earnestly believe the words he wrote.

His post describes a sense of unease, paranoia and loneliness, expressing deep disappointment at the state of the modern internet. He suggests that AI has successfully drowned out the majority of online human activity, reshaping the internet into a more controlled, algorithmic form that exists only to sell products and ideas.

Maricopa County's Board of Supervisors is made up of five elected members. They hold the keys to a $4.5 billion budget in the fourth most populous county in the nation.
Supervisors, who are elected out of districts covering different areas of the county, appoint a county manager who serves as the chief administrator of Maricopa County.
While the county manager handles day-to-day operations across most departments, the board is responsible for setting a vision and direction for the region.
That makes the board something of a sleeping giant in regional politics. From a 30,000-foot view, supervisors oversee land use issues, public health, Election Day voting and more. They directly control the county's checkbook, giving them authority over the resources of the Sheriff's Office, Attorney's Office and other departments with elected heads.
They also serve as the municipal body for those living in unincorporated areas of the county, who aren't residents of cities or towns and do not get the same amenities as those who are.
Supervisor spots are highly coveted by Arizona politicos, often serving as a steppingstone to higher political office. Former county supervisors include former U.S. Rep. Ed Pastor and former Gov. Jan Brewer.
Board meetings are generally held biweekly at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the supervisors' auditorium at 205 W. Jefferson St. in Phoenix. Meetings are open to the public. The county posts agendas and meeting date information on its website.
Vice Chairman Jack Sellers, District 1
Sellers, a Republican, was first appointed to the board in 2019 after former Supervisor Denny Barney resigned to take over as the full-time East Valley Partnership CEO and president. He later was elected to a full term in 2020. Before joining the board, Sellers served two terms on the Chandler City Council. He has lived in the county for more than 30 years and is a retired facilities manager for the General Motors Desert Proving Ground.
He represents District 1, which spans much of the southeast Valley, including portions of Chandler, Tempe, Mesa, Gilbert, Queen Creek and Phoenix's Ahwatukee neighborhood.
Supervisor Tom Galvin, District 2
Galvin is a Republican and was appointed to his seat in 2021. It was previously held by former Supervisor Steve Chucri, who resigned after secret recordings were released of him discussing unfounded suspicions of voter fraud and slamming his colleagues after the November 2020 election. Galvin later won election to the board in 2022.
He holds a law degree from the University of Notre Dame and has lived in Maricopa County for 14 years. In addition to his role as supervisor, Galvin is a land use attorney for Scottsdale-based Rose Law Group and previously worked as a policy adviser for an Arizona Corporation Commissioner Brenda Burns.
His district encompasses much of the East Valley, including parts of Scottsdale, Cave Creek, Fountain Hills, Paradise Valley, Mesa and Gilbert.
Supervisor Bill Gates, District 3
Gates, a Republican, was first elected as supervisor in 2016 and won reelection in 2020. Before joining the board, he served seven years on the Phoenix City Council, where he represented Sunnyslope, Moon Valley and other parts of northeast Phoenix. He holds a law degree from Harvard University and has practiced law in Phoenix for 25 years. He also serves on numerous non-profit boards.
District 3 stretches from north-central Phoenix to Anthem, encompassing Gates' previous council district. It also includes parts of Paradise Valley and a small portion of northern Peoria.
Chairman Clint Hickman, District 4
Hickman is a Republican and was first appointed to the board in 2013 after longtime former Supervisor Max Wilson retired. He was elected in 2014 and reelected in 2020. A fourth-generation Arizonan, he is vice president of sales and marketing at Hickman's Family Farms, which his family has owned and operated since the 1940s. The company is Arizona's largest egg producer.
His district spans most of the northwest Valley, including Wickenburg, Surprise, Litchfield Park, nearly all of Peoria, the northern half of Buckeye and parts of Glendale, Avondale and Goodyear.
Supervisor Steve Gallardo, District 5
⁣The board's lone Democrat, Gallardo was appointed to his seat in 2014 after longtime former Supervisor Mary Rose Wilcox resigned to run for Congress. He was elected a few months later and won reelection in 2016 and 2020. A former state lawmaker, Gallardo represented a district in the southwest Valley in both the House and the Senate for about 10 years before becoming supervisor. He also previously worked as a campaign finance administrator in the county's Elections Department. Gallardo is a fourth-generation Arizonan.


⁣His district encompasses downtown and south Phoenix, then stretches west through Avondale, Tolleson, Goodyear, Buckeye and south past Gila Bend. It is the county's most racially diverse district and is considered the only safely Democratic seat on the board.
