LAKELAND, Fla. - The Lakeland Police Department is reviewing an arrest made by two of its officers. It involves a 16-year-old and the video appears to show one officer punching him in the head and another using a taser.

Community activists are calling this an act of police brutality. The confrontation between the officers and the teen started at a Memorial Day pool party, where the teen is accused of trespassing.

Now, community leaders are calling for criminal charges against the officers and said they aren’t surprised by this latest incident involving Lakeland police.

"This place is one of the most dangerous places in Polk County," said Pastor Clayton Cowart with the Poor Minority Justice Association. "This is police brutality in every way and I think this is child abuse."

On Monday, police were called to a pool party at an apartment complex. Some of the teens were accused of trespassing.

In the video circulating on social media, you can see two officers punch and hit the teen multiple times. At one point, an officer grabs the teen by his hair, before another tases the 16-year-old.

"He’s traumatized, his mother is traumatized, the other kids that were there are traumatized," said Cowart.

The teen was charged with trespassing, battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.

According to the arrest affidavit, the officer said the 16-year-old was uncooperative and punched the officer in the face.

Lakeland PD said that Chief Sam Taylor has been informed of the incident, has met with community leaders about it and has already requested an administrative review by the Office of Professional Standards.

"I don’t believe that there is going to be any video that shows the young man struck the officer first. What I will say is this, where was his de-escalation tactics?" said Cowart.

FOX 13 requested the body cam footage, but at this time it is not being released. Some activists are questioning whether it will be.

"Lakeland has this culture of not playing the video, so let's see if we have the video first," said Cowart.

Some community leaders will meet with the police chief later this week. Cowart said there is a protest planned for Saturday outside the Lakeland Police Department at 6 p.m.

Richard Brooks still remembers when the alert came.

With klaxons sounding and people yelling, the tannoy system warned everyone “Standby to receive torpedo hit”.

“I thought I’ll never get out of this mess alive. Weird things were running through your minds, because I’d chalked myself off.”

He felt the torpedoes hit and the ship pitch to one side but realised he was still alive.

And then the priority became survival. As chief engineer, he could tell the engines were still working. “My machinery was still intact and I was still making headway. I yelled through the voice tube ‘Give me all the steam pressure you’ve got, let’s get the hell out of this area’”.

Eventually his ship, The USS Liberty made its way to safer waters and managed to take stock of the sustained attack. Thirty-four were lying dead, more than 171 were injured.

The Liberty had been sitting in international waters off the Sinai Peninsula. A spy ship, it had been gathering information as the 1967 Arab-Israeli Six-Day War raged on land.

‘Mistaken identity’

During the course of the day, the ship had been buzzed by Israeli aircraft. But flying the American flag, there was no cause for panic, no need for alarm.

“People were sunbathing, enjoying the June sunshine,” said Brooks, who was more concerned with keeping the engines running. The demands of the job perhaps saved his life.

Israel insisted it was a case of mistaken identity. It alleged that pilots were exhausted having fought so hard over the previous days. The US naval vessel was thought to be an Egyptian warship [a horse trawler called El Quesir - VfB].

And that’s why it was attacked with rockets and cannons and missiles and torpedoes.

But Brooks doesn’t buy the Israeli apology. Standing next to the graves of his shipmates in Arlington National Cemetery he tells me “It wasn’t a tragic accident, It was a deliberate attack. They knew who we were. They tried to sink us. They wanted us out to either bring the Americans into the war by blaming the Arabs or we picked up some information about their war plans”.

Websites set up to discuss the Liberty back Brooks’ suggestion. Some claim the Israeli planes which attacked were unmarked, hoping they’d be mistaken for Arab fighter jets. Others speculate that it was known the radio signals from the Liberty could be hacked by the Russians. And worried the US had picked up sensitive information about plans for the Golan Heights, which the Russians would pass to their allies, the Egyptians, the Israelis tried to sink the spy ship.

Every year on June 8, the survivors gather to mark the attack – to read the names of the dead and to share stories and memories.

The numbers are less every year. This year there were just seven survivors in attendance. But the passion to find out exactly what happened remains undiminished. As they stand between the white grave stones, a light summer breeze taking the edge off the afternoon heat, the memorial service also includes a call for justice and for truth.

Pelosi Hospitalized in Luxembourg After Falling

A person familiar with the incident said the former House speaker, 84, had tripped going down stairs at a palace. People close to her said she had fractured her hip in the fall.

Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi was hospitalized on Friday after being injured while traveling abroad on a bipartisan congressional delegation to Luxembourg, a spokesman said on Friday.

Ms. Pelosi, 84, “sustained an injury during an official engagement,” the spokesman, Ian Krager, said in a brief statement that provided no details on the nature of the injury or how it occurred. He said she was admitted to a hospital for evaluation.

Ms. Pelosi tripped going down marble stairs at the Grand Ducal Palace and took a hard fall, according to a person familiar with the incident who was not authorized to comment and spoke on condition of anonymity.

People close to Ms. Pelosi in California and Washington, D.C., speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak for her, said the former speaker fractured her hip when she fell. They said doctors were confident the damage could be repaired with a routine operation, but it was not yet clear whether that would be done in Luxembourg or in the United States.

The former speaker was traveling with colleagues from the House and the Senate to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge when she fell.

After her injury, she was set to miss the remainder of her official engagements, according to Mr. Krager.

The statement said that Ms. Pelosi was working from the hospital and “currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals” and that she “looks forward to returning home to the U.S. soon.”

It was the second time this week that an octogenarian congressional leader sustained an injury while carrying out their official duties.

On Tuesday, Senator Mitch McConnell, 82, Republican of Kentucky, tripped and fell in the Capitol following the weekly G.O.P. luncheon, spraining his wrist and sustaining a small cut to his face.

There is a rumor going around, supposedly started by a facebook engineer (working via the new name Meta) who claims a new AI is in the final stages and it's sole purpose is to cover up genocide. This new AI tracks the style and frequency of posts from users, so when they vanish it can auto generate new posts that make the person indistiguishably look like they are still alive, including aging, education progression, the whole 9 yards.

People using social media will be fooled by the AI and will not notice the crowd is thinning out and they probably won't figure it out until they themselves "die suddenly" or hear a knock at the door, and they probably won't figure out what happened to everyone on Facebook even then.

Think about it - for what other reason would facebook want to fake and obscure the fact that account users have vanished? Sure, you could say it's all economics and fake accounts might be possible to convert to cash, but if fake is all they want, they would not need to go through all the trouble of imitating real people, it would be easier to simply fake up new members from scratch. In fact, it would be a LOT easier to simply generate entirely fake people than to have to deal with millions of families saying "How is my deceased loved one still posting"? Unless that won't be an issue because entire circles of association are to be wiped out, like the communists in Russia did it -

After the bolshevik revolution, Russian communists managed the vanishing of people by killing entire families and all associates, so no one asked questions. This obviously took a lot of work because they had to figure out how to delete people by killing everyone without making it obvious while still maintaining a population that could carry forward. Nowadays, AI is going to assist in carrying out such a program with precision and it will be easy to do, because nowadays all people do is flick their phones, they, outside of work, don't actually know anyone face to face. And AI, which studied them constantly, can just keep right on posting and "maintaining relationships" without the disappearance ever being noticed. An AI can also manage family communications so meeting "face to face at christmas" can be delayed forever.

The people being deleted can simply be replaced by immigrants so neighborhoods don't empty out, in the end there will be only a few non-threatening bottom feeders left, musing at how all the homes around them filled up with foreigners. Relatives who happen to drop by will be left hanging, wondering what the hell happened, like the disappearance of "wally world" and if they raise enough of a stink, they can be eliminated also.

An ai that continues posting, creating perfect fakes of people that have been vanished is now probably the biggest threat we face, I believe it will happen and genocide will never be easier.

It's able to study an individual, create and store an entire lifetime of fictional holidays, meals, relationships and anything else that individual would be expected to post. This data is all stored and deployed by the AI on a schedule that makes sense for that individual. There are some tells that insiders can see that give away if it's the AI or a real person. Some of our work has been to eliminate those tells to make the AI as convincing as possible even to the people who are closest to the subject. We've done really great work but there's still some things that exist that the AI doesn't get right. I can probably post an example or two. I guess that could be considered proof and those are well known enough that it would be difficult to trace to me.

- One of the initial live tests were to create 50 fictitious people. The goal was to make these 50 people new hires at Meta and have them interact and build online relationships with other employees who were completely unaware that these 50 people didn't actually exist. By adding them as friends and giving a few pieces of starter content it was easy to get the ball rolling for other employees outside of our project to start adding the AI generated people as friends also and start interacting with them. These 50 generated accounts were not based off of real individuals so the results were wild. The AI came up with stuff that ranged from absolutely hilarious to completely horrifying. I guess that's pretty accurate for the human experience. That's more along the lines of a traditional bot but it goes to a much deeper level than a bot just reposting the current talking point. It's when we added to it live data on real individuals that things truly took off. It's astoundingly accurate with reproducing real individuals."
