Blind-sided and fuming City Hall officials are bad-mouthing NYPD Commish Keechant Sewell over her abrupt quitting of the top post as part of their “cult mode” to defend Hizzoner, sources told The Post on Tuesday.

Stung by Sewell’s sudden announcement Monday that she is leaving, Mayor Eric Adams’ aides are furiously pegging the outgoing commissioner as selfish for blindsiding the administration, sources said.

“She was always all about herself,” a staffer snipped, according to sources. “She knew what she was getting into.”

Another source said, “There was clearly some hostility” at City Hall after Sewell turned in her resignation.

“Those guys go into their cult mode,” the source said of Adams’ supporters when faced with opposition.

Sewell, 51, stunned the mayor when she emailed department brass Monday to announce she was stepping down after 18 months as the city’s top cop — and the first woman to hold the post.

“I showed her love,” Adams said when pressed by reporters Tuesday about why his top cop is leaving. “I adored what the commissioner was doing.

“The rest of you should ask, ‘What role did you play?’ ” he said grumpily.

Unlike past top cops, she didn’t have sole authority to pick brass to fill vital positions and had her bids to promote aides in her office nixed by City Hall, the sources said.

But despite the internal NYPD turmoil, Sewell gained the respect of the department’s rank and file — and several city pols — after overseeing a drop in citywide shootings during her first year at the helm.

“Commissioner Sewell broke barriers as the first woman, and first black woman, to lead the largest police force in the country,” City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams said in a statement.

Flaherty is the Chairman of the National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC), which was the sponsor of Proposal #8 to “require hereafter that two separate people hold the office of the Chairman and the office of the CEO.”

In support of this resolution for an independent chair, Flaherty attempted to assert that Berkshire “would be less identified with Mr. Buffett’s personal political activities,” and cited Berkshire Chairman/CEO Warren Buffett’s support for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, among other factors.
Resolution proponents were allowed three minutes each to speak in support of their proposals. Three other proponents spoke before Flaherty without interruption, including Michael Frerichs, Treasurer of Illinois.
Video of the event shows that at 1:08 into his remarks, Flaherty was approached and interrupted at the microphone. It was by Cathy Woollums, a Berkshire official who was a designated liaison with proponents for the meeting. Not audible through the sound system, Woollums told Flaherty that he should stay “on topic.”
Flaherty stated into the microphone, “You are not going to censor what I say, ma’am. I’m very sorry. And I appeal to the Chair (occupied by Buffett) that I be allowed to continue. Sir?”
Buffett stated, “You may continue but under the three-minute limitation.” Flaherty replied, “Of course,” and resumed speaking at the 1:28 mark until the 2:04 mark when his mike went dead.
At the 1:55 mark Buffett attempted to start talking over Flaherty and appeared to give direction to other persons in the hall. This portion of Flaherty’s remarks concerned Bill Gates’s relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.
Immediately, two representatives of Clark International Security approached and stood in front of Flaherty. He was told to leave or he would be arrested. Flaherty replied that he would leave when he finished his statement. At this point, Flaherty was not fully aware that his mic had been cut, was still under the three-minute limitation, and had already received a favorable ruling from the chair.
One of the Clark representatives summoned a uniformed Omaha policeman who was nearby and requested that he arrest Flaherty. He grabbed Flaherty by the arm, advised him that he was under arrest, and led him from the arena. Flaherty was transported by Omaha police to the Douglas County Corrections Center where he was searched, handcuffed, and charged with criminal trespass.

NLPC filed a similar proposal for an independent chair last year at Berkshire when Flaherty spoke in support of the resolution without incident. The proposal received support from diverse shareholders including the California Public Employees’ Retirement System (CalPERS).
NLPC sponsors the Corporate Integrity Project and has engaged in shareholder activism since 2004. In 2023, NLPC is the proponent of proposals at 26 companies on a variety of topics.
NLPC-filed proposals for an independent chair were also considered, or will be considered, this year at Bank of America, Coca-Cola, Goldman Sachs, Home Depot, Mondelez, PepsiCo, Salesforce, and Visa.
Since 2004, Flaherty has spoken at the annual meetings of dozens of companies including Alphabet, Amazon, Bank of America, Boeing, Citigroup, Coca-Cola, Colgate-Palmolive, Goldman Sachs, Merck, Facebook (now Meta), PepsiCo, Procter & Gamble and Walmart. In connection to NLPC proposals, he has met with many corporate executives over the years, including then-PepsiCo CEO Indra Nooyi and then-GE CEO Jeff Immelt.

ADA COUNTY, Idaho — Police are investigating two deadly stabbings in two separate locations Wednesday that appear to be linked.

Nampa police say they first got a call Tuesday night at 8:43 p.m. from someone reporting a stabbing in the 2100 block of W. Grouse St.

When they arrived on the scene, officers say they found a woman with several stab wounds. Emergency crews tried to save her, but she died from her injuries at the scene. Police identified her as Michelle Luna, 52, of Nampa.

Police say they identified a suspect: Jesus Urrutia, 39, of Nampa, and started looking around the area for him.

Just before 7 a.m. Wednesday, Ada County Sheriff's deputies received a 911 call reporting a stabbing in a gas station parking lot at the Avimor subdivision north of Eagle, over 25 miles from Nampa.

Deputies arrived at the gas station several minutes later and found an adult man slumped over in a car, which was running but in park. Deputies got the man out of the car and began first aid, including CPR, until paramedics arrived. He had a visible stab wound. Paramedics took the man to a local hospital, where he was declared dead a brief time later. Nampa police identified the man in the car as Urrutia.

Ada County deputies say Raul Cuevas, 31, of Nampa, was identified as the suspect in Urrutia's death. Nampa police say the victim in the Nampa stabbing, Michelle Luna, is Cuevas' mother.

Deputies found Cuevas at the Chevron gas station at the corner of Highway 55 and Beacon Light Road. The sheriff's office said deputies talked to him and eventually arrested him there in connection with the stabbing at Avimor.

The investigation remains active. The sheriff's office said deputies and detectives are developing evidence and pursuing several different leads.
