(1)āA person operating or occupying a motor vehicle on a street or highway may not operate or amplify the sound produced by a radio, tape player, compact disc player, portable music or video player, cellular telephone, tablet computer, laptop computer, stereo, television, musical instrument, or other mechanical or electronic soundmaking device or instrument, which sound emanates from the motor vehicle, so that the sound is:
(a)āPlainly audible at a distance of 25 feet or more from the motor vehicle; or
(b)āLouder than necessary for the convenient hearing by persons inside the vehicle in areas adjoining private residences, churches, schools, or hospitals.

(1)āAs used in this section, the term:
(a)āāDepartmentā means the Department of Children and Families.
(b)1.āāPublic camping or sleepingā means:
a.āLodging or residing overnight in a temporary outdoor habitation used as a dwelling or living space and evidenced by the erection of a tent or other temporary shelter, the presence of bedding or pillows, or the storage of personal belongings; or
b.āLodging or residing overnight in an outdoor space without a tent or other temporary shelter.
2.āThe term does not include:
a.āLodging or residing overnight in a motor vehicle that is registered, insured, and located in a place where it may lawfully be.
b.āCamping for recreational purposes on property designated for such purposes.
