Far-Right Polish Lawmaker Uses Fire Extinguisher On Hanukkah Candles In Parliament

Far-right Polish lawmaker Grzegorz Braun was captured on video Tuesday using a fire extinguisher to put out menorah candles in Parliament and calling Hanukkah a “satanic” celebration.
In the footage shared by Polish broadcaster TVN24, Braun is seen grabbing a fire extinguisher in the halls of Parliament and using it to put out candles on a menorah, the candelabrum used through the eight nights of the Jewish holiday.
“Those who take part in acts of satanic worship should be ashamed,” he said after the act, according to a translation by Reuters. He also said he was restoring “normality” by dousing the candles.
Braun, one of the most conservative and controversial members of Parliament, grabbed the fire extinguisher shortly after a rabbi led a Hanukkah celebration in the building.
“He was doing it in a very brutal way,” Rabbi Shalom Ber Stambler told The Associated Press. The footage shows Braun filling the room with white mist and powder from the extinguisher as people begged him to stop.
Magdalena Gudzinska-Adamczyk, a woman identified by Reuters, was among the attendees who tried to stop Braun.
“I feel very short of breath and have trouble speaking,” she told TVN24 as her face was covered in residue from the fire extinguisher. “I have stopped feeling safe in this country.”
Parliamentary leadership quickly sanctioned Braun, a member of the far-right Confederation party who claims there’s a conspiracy to turn Poland into a “Jewish state.” His salary was cut in half for three months and his parliamentary expenses halved for six months.
Szymon Holownia, the speaker of the Parliament, banned Braun from the rest of the day’s session and said he was reporting him to prosecutors, the AP reported.

Gunderson tracked down a discarded suspect, a drug user named Helena Stoeckley, and promised her immunity, relocation to California and a part in a movie in exchange for a full confession. Everything that happened was a sign. Sonny Bono’s 1998 death by skiing accident? Killed by the government because he “knew too much.” Same with diminutive actor Gary Coleman. Airplanes are purposefully dumping toxic chemicals as “chemtrails” to reduce world population. 9/11 was an inside job.
The Obama administration ordered “30,000 guillotines to murder its critics, and has stashed 500,000 caskets in Georgia and Montana for the remains.”
Around every corner was a new hidden enemy. And behind it all was the Black Cult, a worldwide conspiracy to torture and murder children just like Jeffrey MacDonald’s family.
What drove Ted Gunderson into the arms of conspiracy theory? Intelligence agents are, in a way, storytellers. They’re given seemingly random pieces of evidence and tasked with assembling them into a coherent narrative. The credibility of a former FBI agent emboldens conspiracy theorists around the globe. Most recently, proponents of the Pizzagate conspiracy theory started passing his videos around as “proof” that, once again, the Black Cult was real.

Alex Jones is back on X (formerly Twitter) after Elon Musk randomly decided to leave it to a vote among users to see how they felt about it ... and as they say, the people have spoken.
The notorious conspiracy theorist -- who infamously questioned the legitimacy of the Sandy Hook shooting, and got taken to court over it -- regained control of his account again late Saturday after being removed from the platform years ago.
This all happened back in 2018 when tech companies banned him en masse. At the time, he was embroiled in defamation lawsuits from the families of the Sandy Hook victims ... but that controversy, in and of itself, wasn't why he got banned -- different orgs. cited different reasons, but it all boiled down to what they said were violations of their policies.
For Twitter -- the last social media company to ban him -- they ended up citing abusive behavior by Jones and his account ... similar to what the other companies ended up saying.
In any case, Musk reversed the decision with a poll. He wrote, "Reinstate Alex Jones on this platform? Vox Populi, Vox Dei." After leaving the poll up for a full day, the results came in -- and out of nearly 2 million people that participated, 70% said he oughta be brought back.
Once the poll wrapped, EM wrote ... "The people have spoken and so it shall be." He also responded to some concerned users who felt Jones could potentially pose a threat on X -- but Elon clarified, "He cannot break the law." So, it sounds like AJ will be monitored.
Jones hasn't tweeted any new original content after being reinstated, but he has retweeted a few people who are celebrating his return -- including Andrew Tate, who wrote ... "To show respect to Alex Jones for his triumphant return and to show respect to Elon being a hero - tell a globalist to get f****d today." Jones has retweeted other far-right figures too.
Jones continues to run his InfoWars website and channel, and broadcasts his program from there daily -- but, he doesn't have mainstream distribution on social media or otherwise.
He remains controversial for many reasons, some of which he addressed in a recent interview with Tucker Carlson ... who sat down with Jones for a wide-ranging interview.
Now that he has a big platform again, we'll see what he says ... and if he goes too far for Elon's taste. These days, the guy seems to be embracing a wide range of speech, period.

ARLINGTON, Va. (7News) — After an earth-shaking blast in an Arlington neighborhood Monday night, police officials are giving a clearer picture of the sequence of events leading to the explosion that happened hours after officers first made contact with the suspect.
Officers were first called to the home on N. Burlington Street around 4:45 p.m. after being made aware of flares being fired into the sky.
The suspect has since been identified as 56-year-old James Yoo.
"A male suspect discharged a flare-type gun from the residence more than 30 times. Officers attempted to engage with the suspect without success. A search warrant was ultimately obtained to allow our officers to secure any weapons to ensure there would be no ongoing threat to the community," said Arlington County Police Chief Andy Penn.
7News obtained video of those late afternoon flares from Sarah Wilhoite, who saw this happen with her roommate.
"We were talking about how odd that was, and how unsafe it was," Wilhoite said.
Officers agreed. They left and returned with body armor and a warrant to seize weapons Yoo may have had. Other neighbors heard the commotion from officers trying to bring Yoo into custody.
"You can just hear the police say, 'We're not leaving until you come out, James,'" said Sam Kim, who lives near the explosion.
In the hours after that initial 4:45 p.m. call, officers worked on getting Yoo out of the house.
However, the situation quickly escalated.
"At this point, officers experienced what is believed to be multiple gunshots from a firearm coming from within the dwelling," Penn said. "As the suspect began discharging several rounds from a suspected firearm inside the house, officers could not locate the source of the suspected gunfire or its intended target. Officers began to deploy non-flammable, less-lethal chemical munitions to multiple areas within the residence where the suspect was believed to be hiding."
At some point, fire officials said the gas to the home was cut off and the situation reached a point when fire crews evacuated neighboring homes around 7 p.m.
"The fire department personnel absolutely saved lives. In anticipation of what could happen and, unfortunately, what did happen, the fire department personnel evacuated neighboring residents. The evacuation of the neighbors saved lives," said Arlington County Fire Assistant Chief Jason Jenkins.
And for those not close enough to warrant an evacuation, they were asked to shelter in place.
"When we tried walking a little closer, the officer on duty asked us to go back inside," said Brendan With, who lives near the explosion.
Just moments later, around 8:25 p.m., the explosion leveled the home, damaging ten other homes.
Police officials said Yoo was inside the home at the time of the explosion, and they have found human remains. They are still waiting for the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to identify the body they found, but they are presuming Yoo died in the blast.
For neighbors nearby, the explosion physically and emotionally shook them to their core.
"I'm just thinking I heard a bomb go off," With said. "I just hear a boom. Power goes out, the house shakes."
Kim added: "The glass was actually coming in our direction. Me and my housemate fell back a little because of the wave."
The timeline may actually begin well before Monday's explosion.
"We are aware of concerning social media posts allegedly made by the suspect, and these will be reviewed as part of the ongoing criminal investigation," Penn said.
FBI's David Sundberg added: "The individual Chief Penn referenced had previously communicated with the FBI via phone calls, online tips, and letters over a number of years. I would characterize these communications as, primarily, complaints about alleged frauds he believed were perpetrated against him."
With the gas cut off before the explosion, detectives are still investigating what caused such a big blast.
Neighbors said they have even more questions.
"With social media, you hear all of the stories, and I don't know if everything is true or not. I've been following that. There's still questions," With said.

By Erin Nolan Nov. 22, 2023 The former State Department employee and national security official who was filmed harassing a halal food vendor in Manhattan and calling him a “terrorist” was arrested and charged with a hate crime on Wednesday. The former official, Stuart Seldowitz, 64, faces charges that include aggravated harassment and several counts of stalking, according to the police.
The charges were brought after the vendor, whom the police did not name but identified as a 24-year-old man, told the police that a person had approached him several times while he was working and had made Islamophobic comments, causing him to feel “afraid and annoyed.” In several videos posted on social media, Mr. Seldowitz was shown photographing the vendor, threatening to send his picture to “friends in Immigration” and making Islamophobic remarks.

In one clip, Mr. Seldowitz calls the vendor “ignorant” for not speaking English, and goes on to make derisive comments about Islam’s founder, the Prophet Muhammad. In another, after a brief interaction about children being killed, Mr. Seldowitz says: “If we killed 4,000 Palestinian kids, you know what? It wasn’t enough.” According to the police, Mr. Seldowitz lives a few blocks from the halal cart’s usual location on the Upper East Side. Attempts to reach him on Wednesday night were unsuccessful.
In a phone interview on Tuesday, Mr. Seldowitz said that he was not Islamophobic and that he had targeted the vendor only after he expressed support for Hamas. The videos do not depict any comments by the vendor beyond his asking Mr. Seldowitz to leave and saying he would call the police. “At that point, I got rather upset and I’ve said things to him, that in retrospect, I probably regret, though — that I do regret,” Mr. Seldowitz said on Tuesday. “Instead of focusing in on him and what he said, I expanded into insulting his religion and so on.”
Mr. Seldowitz said he had held several positions in both Democratic and Republican administrations, including acting director for the National Security Council’s South Asia Directorate and a post in the U.S. State Department’s Office of Israel and Palestinian Affairs. He no longer holds any government positions, he said. The incident came as tensions have escalated between pro-Palestinian and pro-Israel groups in the weeks since the Israel-Hamas war began on Oct. 🤐
