Former President Donald Trump's private jet, a 1990s-era Boeing 757-200 known as "Trump Force One," was forced to make an emergency landing this Friday in Billings, Montana, due to a hydraulic failure.

The aircraft, which was carrying the former President of the United States, managed to land safely at a small local airstrip. Plans are in place to transport the jet to Bozeman Airport for a full inspection.

Trump's campaign team posted a video of him upon landing, in which he expressed his pleasure at being in Montana but made no mention of the emergency landing. The U.S. Secret Service will conduct a security review at the airport before allowing the aircraft to be moved.

Trump was scheduled to arrive in Bozeman to deliver a rally at a closed pavilion at Montana State University at 8 p.m. local time, just five hours after the incident.

This incident comes barely a month after the attempted attack on Trump on July 13, which has raised some concerns. However, this time it is a technical issue involving an aircraft that has been in service for several decades.

This is not the first time Trump has faced problems aboard his plane. In 2022, the aircraft had to return to New Orleans airport just 30 minutes after takeoff due to an engine failure.

The "Trump Force One," which originally entered service in 1991, was acquired by Trump in 2010. During his presidency, the plane remained inactive as Trump used Air Force One.

Tomorrow, 20 years will have passed since the death of U.S. Sen. Paul Wellstone, his wife Sheila, their daughter Marcia and four others in a plane crash near Eveleth, Minnesota. Today, a memorial stands on that road where I used to ride my bike. Meanwhile, as before, an important election approaches.

On Oct. 24, 2002, another midterm election accelerated toward its consequential finish. Wellstone, a Northfield Democrat in his second term, faced Republican challenger Norm Coleman of St. Paul, in a race that ranked high on national campaign watchlists.

Coleman had pulled ahead in the polls earlier in the campaign, but one recent poll showed Wellstone back on top. This was big news because Wellstone had just voted against authorizing the war in Iraq, the only senator facing a competitive race to do so.

As the candidates raced across the state during the final two weeks, Wellstone decided to divert his plane north to catch the funeral of the father of Iron Range lawmaker Tom Rukavina, a longtime ally. That plane wouldn’t make it to the small airport across the road from my grandparent’s house.

I watched the news splay across the TV screen between a split shift at the small daily newspaper I edited in 2002. I remembered how I met Wellstone that one summer in 1996, how he seemed excited that I would study journalism. Six years later I was right where I wanted to be. Or so I thought. Just like Sept. 11 of the previous year, I would have to tear down a front page for something horrible.

The death of the Wellstones and the others on that plane were sad for personal reasons. But, in retrospect, what followed was more instructive about the direction our politics would take. One of the speakers at Wellstone’s funeral made a partisan speech. I watched it on television and thought it was out of place. But what followed shocked me.

⁣The far right is using a Michael Jackson song out of context by framing the lyrics around its ideas of the “great replacement.”

Michael Jackson has been named the “king of pop” for his timeless hits as a member of the Jackson 5 and as a solo artist. His lyrics have brought individuals across the world together as one. “Billie Jean” and “Thriller” are some of his best-known songs, but it is “They Don’t Really Care About Us” that has been the topic of conversation in far-right Telegram channels.
The far right took Jackson’s song out of context by framing the lyrics around the idea of the “great replacement.” Appropriating a global hit performed by one of the most famous artists in modern history allows the far right to reach a wide audience, using Michael Jackson’s star status to build credibility around its claims.
The far right has a fascination with the lyrics of “They Don’t Really Care About US” because of the themes covered in the song. The lyrics in question contain anti-Semitic “Jew me, sue me, everybody do me / Kick me, kike me, don’t you black or white me.” The conversations on Telegram involve praising Jackson for “recognizing” that Jews were the ones in control. Users continued to praise Jackson for using the word “kike,” deemed anti-Semitic for its historical context that dates back to the Jewish community entering the United States via Ellis Island.
The word “kike” is offensive, which pleases the far right and helps build a narrative frame around a misconstrued version of Jackson’s song. The lyrics about Jews, in addition to the chorus, “All I wanna say is that they don’t really care about us,” also feeds into the beliefs espoused by the Patriot movement.
The song’s lyrics faced criticism for being politically incorrect when it was initially released, but it was not until recently that the far right noticed how it could manipulate the lyrics to reach a mass audience. Despite Jackson’s revisions of the song, both versions continue to be readily available online.
Jackson produced two music videos for this powerful hit. The first video opens with the statement: “This film is not degrading one race, but pictorializes the injustices to all mankind. May God grant us peace throughout the world.” The video takes place in prison, with disgruntled inmates surrounding Jackson. Throughout the video, visuals of weapons, bombs and beatings are shown across the screen.
The other version of the video is more upbeat, taking place in Brazil, with bright colors and dancing, but with the same problematic lyrics. Some even claimed they saw Jackson doing a Nazi salute at one point in the video. Telegram users preferred the prison version because the visuals aligned with their us-versus-them frame.
After facing criticism, Jackson explained that he purposefully used that verbiage to highlight the injustice individuals were facing at the time by creating protest music, specifically with the intention of showing the symbolic nature of name-calling people.
After users went back and forth in the channel providing their own interpretations of the song, they attempted to develop tactics to circulate the music video and create memes of Jackson’s photograph with the words “great replacement” or “they don’t really care about us.” Circulating images of the king of pop in this context across the internet could lead to those unfamiliar with the terms the opportunity to seek out further information on this type of content.
The us-versus-them mentality that binds the far right together is further solidified by the “us” Jackson uses in the song title and chorus, a user pointed out. After the user pointed out that they were considered the “us” Jackson was referring to, the channel realized that he was talking about them. While the channel did not use the words “great replacement” outside of putting it on memes of Jackson, it was being described implicitly by users.
The channel audience agreed that the song’s purpose is to inform listeners that the government doesn’t care about them and that the authorities are willing to replace them through immigration to the extent that whites become the minority group. The great replacement and white genocide are two concepts of particular relevance for the far right because whites aspire to retain their majority status.
Based on the 2020 census results, there is a high likelihood of the far right panicking because the United States is becoming more diverse. The world saw this fear of the great replacement in Charlottesville, Virginia, when protesters chanted “Jews will not replace us” during a Unite the Right rally in 2017.

Don’t worry if you don’t know the rules of women’s football. We assume that after the Super Bowl, you want to know how football is played. But first, you must bear in mind that there are also female players and that there is a female competition that takes place that same day: the Lingerie Football League.

There are two modalities: the tackle, which allows contact and has 11 players on each team; and flag football, which stops play by removing a ribbon from a player from the opposing team, there are four to twelve members in each group and no helmets or shoulder pads are used.

Taking as a model the style of play of the Lingerie Football League, we will explain women’s football regulations:

Annotations
A team has four chances to score in the opposing zone. To be valid, the player must pass the line that limits the space to score points. That is known in American football as a touchdown.

Conversion of two points
In women’s football, this play is allowed. After scoring, the team can be near the opposing end zone to score for a second time.

Game time
The game is divided into four ten-minute quarters and a 12-minute halftime. What is peculiar about these quarters is that they only run when the play is on. Every time there is a touchdown, foul or other inconvenience, the clock stops. Also, there is an additional 8 minute sudden-death period in the event of a tie.

The team
Each of the groups must have eleven players. It is divided into three positions:
Offensive, which are the ones that can score
Defensive, position to prevent the other team from scoring
Special teams, which kick the ball at specific and specific moments

Yards
The court is divided five times from the middle to each end. There is an identification every ten yards: it goes from 0 to 50. The end zone is at the ends, after 0.

Prohibitions
Unlike men’s football, certain moves are not allowed. That is the case with the field goal, one of the few movements with the foot, which will enable you to score points. The use of so-called punt kicks where the ball must not touch the ground is also not allowed. In Lingerie Football League matches, the kickoff is also not allowed in the women’s soccer regulations, given the ball in the hands.

FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - A photo of Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis was found on the phone of Thomas Matthew Crooks, the young man accused of trying to assassinate former President Donald Trump at a rally on Saturday in Pennsylvania.

That information was revealed during a Secret Service and FBI briefing on Wednesday, according to CNN. They also found photos of Trump, President Biden, former Mayor Rudy Giuliani, House Speaker Mike Johnson, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and others.

Almost all the photos appear to have been downloaded from the internet and were not accompanied by any threatening language or messages.

It was also revealed that Crooks conducted online searches about various Trump events, both the Republican National Convention and the Democratic National Convention, and major depressive disorder.

It's unknown why Crooks downloaded the Fulton County DA's photo. However, she is prosecuting both Trump and Giuliani.

Willis investigates Donald Trump

Willis announced on Feb. 20, 2021, that she was launching a criminal investigation into Trump's alleged attempt to change the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.

After a 2-1/2 year investigation, a grand jury handed up an indictment against Trump and 18 of his supporters for election interference.

Prosecution on hold

However, Trump has not yet gone to trial in the state of Georgia. The case has been put on hold until the Georgia Supreme Court can hear oral arguments on motions to remove Willis from the case.

Former White House staffer Michael Roman filed a motion in January 2024 to disqualify Willis because of an "improper" romantic relationship with former special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

After months of drama and a hearing, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee ruled that the Fulton County District Attorney's Office could continue to handle the case but either Willis or Wade would need to step aside. Wade submitted his resignation a few hours later.

Trump and his remaining co-defendants were unhappy with that decision and submitted an appeal to Georgia's appellate court. They announced this week that they will hear oral arguments on Dec. 5.

Willis talks about threats

DA Willis has spoken many times about the threats she has received over the last 3 years because of her investigation into Trump and his allies. Willis claims that she was forced to leave her home in South Fulton.

An Alabama man pled guilty in June to leaving threatening phone messages for the district attorney last summer because he was angry about the election interference investigation.

A California man was also indicted in May for threatening to kill Willis "like a dog."

Trump assassination attempt still under investigation

At this time, officials say they are still looking into what motivated Crooks to try to kill the former president as he spoke to his supporters at Saturday's rally.

FOX News is reporting that Crooks apparently teased an attack online in the days before the assassination attempt on the gaming platform Steam. Crooks allegedly wrote: "July 13 will be my premiere, watch as it unfolds," according to the officials.

Although Trump's injury was minor, one person was killed and two others were seriously injured.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) issued a defiant response on Monday to former Trump co-campaign manager Chris LaCivita, signaling he would not be pressured to back a measure funding the government that President Trump supports and the House will consider on Tuesday.

“Someone thinks they can control my voting card by threatening my re-election. Guess what? Doesn’t work on me,” Massie wrote in a Monday post on the social platform X in response to LaCivita, who had written “tick tock Tommie” about the bill.

“Three times I’ve had a challenger who tried to be more MAGA than me. None busted 25 percent because my constituents prefer transparency and principles over blind allegiance,” Massie added.

Massie is the only House Republican to say definitively that he will vote against a continuing resolution that would keep the government funded through the end of September.

Trump has threatened to oust him for his opposition.

“Congressman Thomas Massie, of beautiful Kentucky, is an automatic ‘NO’ vote on just about everything, despite the fact that he has always voted for Continuing Resolutions in the past,” Trump wrote in a Monday Truth Social post, comparing Massie to former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.).

“HE SHOULD BE PRIMARIED, and I will lead the charge against him. He’s just another GRANDSTANDER, who’s too much trouble, and not worth the fight.”

The Kentucky Republican has frequently shown opposition to Trump’s agenda. He has also frustrated Republicans in Congress at various times by voting against their funding measures.

“I’m not voting for the Continuing Resolution budget (cut-copy-paste omnibus) this week. Why would I vote to continue the waste fraud and abuse DOGE has found,” the Kentucky representative wrote on X.

Massie has used the backlash to raise campaign funds for his re-election bid, lauding himself as the “one person in Congress who won’t cave.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) has remained supportive of Massie despite the anger from Trump and his allies.

“Look, I’m in the incumbent protection program here. That’s what I do,” Johnson said when asked about Trump’s threat to primary Massie.
“I bless those who persecute me, right? So, Thomas and I have had disagreements, but I consider Thomas Massie a friend,” Johnson added.
“He’s a thoughtful guy. I guess he’ll tell you he’s doing what he thinks is right on this. I just vehemently disagree with his position. But I’ll leave it at that.”

⁣MAPLEWOOD, Minn. — It's back to business after a big scare at Big Discount Liquors in Maplewood. An armed robber was beaten back by an 8-year-old girl and her baseball bat.

Thirty-seven-year-old Conchobhar Morrell, of St. Paul, was charged with first-degree attempted aggravated robbery in Ramsey County on Monday.

Charging documents state Morrell's criminal record includes a 2004 conviction for first-degree aggravated robbery.

Surveillance video from the store shows Morrell wearing an Amazon uniform and reaching in his pocket before setting a realistic BB gun on the counter.

According to an Amazon spokesperson, Morrell was a delivery associate for a third-party delivery service delivering packages for Amazon. He will be "immediately offboarded."
