Shelley Duvall, best known for her roles in "The Shining" and several acclaimed Robert Altman films, has died, according to reports, citing a family spokesperson and her longtime partner.

She was 75.

Duvall died in her sleep at their home in Blanco, Texas of complications of diabetes, Dan Gilroy, her life partner of more than 30 years, told The Hollywood Reporter.

"My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us," Gilroy said. "Too much suffering lately, now she's free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley."

Known for her thin physique, large expressive eyes and powerful performances, Duvall was a standout playing opposite Jack Nicholson in the iconic 1980 horror film "The Shining" and Robin Williams in the comedy "Popeye" that same year.

But hardcore fans of cinema also recognized her for her professional partnership with acclaimed filmmaker Altman, who first cast her as the love interest in the 1970 film, "Brewster McCloud."

Duvall would go on to memorable roles in some of his other movies, including his ensemble 1975 film "Nashville," and "3 Women" in 1977, which won her the Cannes Best Actress Award.

In a Boca Raton News story published in 1977, Altman hailed the actress as being able to "to swing all sides of the pendulum: charming, silly, sophisticated, pathetic - even beautiful."

Duvall's other notable work includes her performances in "Annie Hall," "Roxanne" and "McCabe & Mrs. Miller." She enjoyed an early hit in the premium cable era, as host and producer of Showtime's "Faerie Tale Theatre" from 1982 to 1987. She worked in the entertainment industry for decades before she fell on hard times.

In 2016, Duvall appeared on Dr. Phil's daytime talk show in an interview titled, "A Hollywood Star's Descent Into Mental Illness: Saving The Shining's Shelley Duvall."

The actress made several troubling statements, claiming that her "Popeye" costar Williams, who died in 2014, was still alive and a shapeshifter.

"I'm very sick," she told Dr. Phil at the time. "I need help."

There was backlash after the episode aired, as many complained that Duvall had been exploited on air.

In April of this year, Duvall, who hadn't acted since 2002's "Manna from Heaven," gave a rare interview to the New York Times in which she reflected on her career and more recent absence from film and TV projects.

"I was a star; I had leading roles," she said. "People think it's just aging, but it's not. It's violence."

"How would you feel if people were really nice, and then, suddenly, on a dime ... they turn on you?" she added. "You would never believe it unless it happens to you. That's why you get hurt, because you can't really believe it's true."

At the time, she and Gilroy were living in an "isolated but serene" one-story home in Texas Hill Country.

Over the years, Duvall retained a large fanbase of supporters. She returned to screens in 2023 for the horror film "The Forest Hills."

"I wanted to act again. And then this guy kept calling, and so I wound up doing it," Duvall quipped in her interview with the Times. "If you ever do a horror film, other horror films are going to come to you, no matter what you do."

Napoleon fought the Jewish Money Powers

In the 18th century, the City of London controlled British, conducted three major wars, against Spain, the U.S., and France. The principal objective of the war against France was to destroy Napoleon's debt- and interest-free system of finance. So too was the purpose of England's second war against the American colonies.

Interestingly, the purpose of the Jewish bank is revealed by the sad state of the English people.

In order to destroy Napoleon's state bank, it cost the British public a staggering £831 million, of which over £2.5 billion were still outstanding in 1914.

By 1812, Napoleon dominated nearly all of Europe, with only Britain still opposing him. To crush Britain's ally Russia, Napoleon assembled a massive Grand Army of over 600,000 men from across Europe. As summer began, they invaded Russia expecting a swift victory.

The Russians, under General Kutuzov, avoided direct battle at first. Instead, they retreated deeper into Russia's interior, practicing a scorched earth policy as they went. Villages were burned, crops destroyed and wells spoiled, leaving nothing for the French army to live off.

Napoleon captured Moscow in September, but it had been abandoned and burned by the Russians. With winter approaching and his supply lines overextended, Napoleon had no choice but to order the Grand Army to turn back.

The bitter Russian winter soon set in. Freezing cold, starvation and attacks from Russian forces devastated the French soldiers during the long, miserable retreat. By the time the surviving 100,000 troops stumbled back into Poland, the Grand Army had been wrecked, with over 400,000 casualties.

Napoleon's invasion of Russia proved to be his undoing. The massive failure shook French power and set the stage for Napoleon's eventual defeat and abdication. His ambition could not overcome the Russian winter that decimated his once unstoppable forces. It was a blow that marked the beginning of the end for Napoleon.

⁣You'll Soon Be Eating Cloned Meat Without Knowing It

“As Health Canada prepares to permit the sale of products derived from animal cloning without mandatory labeling, consumers are poised to lose transparency regarding what they are consuming. The social and moral acceptability of this technology remains highly contentious, underscoring the need for enhanced communication and authentic consultation.”

Imagine savoring a steak from a cloned animal or sipping milk from a cloned cow. Thanks to investigative journalism by @ThomasGerbet of the @CBCNews, this impending reality has come to light, though many agricultural producer groups have not been directly consulted.

@GovCanHealth's recent round of consultations, conducted with minimal public awareness, suggests that these products may soon be available without consumers' knowledge, as there will be no mandatory labeling. The absence of such information on Health Canada's website only adds to the opacity surrounding "cloned products."

The consultation, which concluded on May 25th, focused on updating the "Policy on Foods Derived from Cloned Animals by Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer and Their Progeny." This update proposes that cloned products be exempt from pre-market evaluation under Part B, Title 28 of the Food and Drug Regulations. In contrast, nations like the United States, Japan, and New Zealand...

But what precisely is animal cloning? The process aims to create a genetic replica of an animal by replacing the nucleus of an unfertilized egg with that of a somatic cell from the donor animal, forming an embryo. This embryo is then implanted into a surrogate mother's uterus, where it develops to term.

Artificial insemination, a well-established industry practice, involves collecting sperm from a male and artificially introducing it into a female's reproductive system to facilitate fertilization, preserving genetic variability. Cloning, however, produces genetically identical animals, eliminating this variability.

From a food safety perspective, cloned products do not pose a threat to human health. However, the social and moral acceptability of cloning remains in question. It is doubtful that consumers will unconditionally accept this technology, especially in the absence of labeling. For traditional producers, the integration of cloned products into the market could also taint consumer perceptions across entire categories, particularly meat and dairy.

This situation mirrors the backlash against genetically modified salmon, which faced immediate retail rejection despite being deemed safe. Irrespective of the safety profile, it is crucial to explain the technology and ensure consumers comprehend the rationale and necessity for such practices, both for their benefit and that of the industry.

For the industry, the imperative to amend regulations is less evident. Cloning is an expensive process, and the argument that reduced production costs will translate into lower retail prices for consumers is tenuous at best.

Without mandatory labeling, offering consumers a truly informed choice becomes problematic. We have witnessed similar issues with genetic engineering and GMOs. Health Canada appears poised to embrace technological advancements impacting our agri-food sector without adequately considering consumer rights and preferences.

I was first approached nearly a year ago by researcher , with a request for help in translating Hellmut Schramm's book, Der jüdische Ritualmord : Eine historische Untersuchung [Jewish Ritual-Murder : a Historical Investigation]. ⁣Just what is your food made of, anyway? Try industrial synthesis, genetically modified mold secretions, hydrochloric acid, mercury-contaminated caustic soda, ferrocyanide… and, of course, lots of GMO corn.

If common ingredients like “citric acid” and “ascorbic acid (vitamin C)” sound normal and familiar enough that you practically conjure up an image of the flourishing orchard they were grown in – then think again.

Picture instead an industrial factory, carrying out protocols developed in a lab, produced with enough winding nozzles, tanks, valves, pipes and other thinga-ma-jiggers to create a meandering and disorienting Dr. Seuss story. Because, after all, these common –nearly ubiquitous – ingredients don’t come from where you might assume (i.e. simply, citrus fruits).

Instead, mass produced citric acid and ascorbic acid are hidden GMO ingredients that reportedly set off allergenic responses for some sensitive consumers. Further, both are known accomplices to the creation of benzene – a known human carcinogen – inside food and drink products alongside sodium benzoate.

Feel free to peruse these blogs and forums for complaints about citric acid from those allergic or intolerant to citric acid itself, mold & yeast and/or corn. Food intolerance to citric acid, or the components of its production, can trigger such symptoms as: stomach pain, reactions in the mouth, headaches, diarrhea, vomiting, cramping, hives, dark circles under the eye and/or blotchy skin.

Nevertheless, most people are not allergic to citric acid, and have no identifiable negative effects from eating it. But it does serve as a poignant reminder that what we eat comes from food products – constructed as if from tinker toys, with multiple, highly processed ingredients that virtually no one would recognize and few know anything about.

Otto Von Bismarck famously quipped back in the 1800s that “Laws are like sausages, it is better not to see them being made.” But today there is an endless array of foods that would baffle or disgust consumers if they saw them made. Industrial food processes have rendered entire grocery stores filled with food products whose ingredients would be even less recognizable than the contents of sausage.

Despite being on live television, the California representative was seen adjusting her hair for roughly 30 seconds as she was asked about the 2024 election and how to keep Donald Trump from from winning a second term in the White House.

"They've heard these arguments about democracy, about the fate of the election and yet, Trump is not only winning but ... increasingly, by a larger margin. So what is the plan among Democrats to change that trajectory?"

"Boxer Ryan Garcia has come under fire over using racial slurs and ill remarks about George Floyd during a recent social media rant, prompting former NBA player and friend of Floyd Stephen Jackson to take issue with his words.

On Thursday, July 4, Ryan Garcia embarked on a rampage on Twitter Spaces in which he used the N-word several times and proclaimed that he hates Black people and Muslims.

“I hate n—gers, I’m anti-Black. Let’s join the Ku Klux Klan. F—k the n—gers! N—a, I’m KKK,” Garcia said."
