A set of locks for an Ohio River dam in Kentucky is closed due to a "navigational incident" after 10 barges were released from a tugboat, including one barge carrying 1,400 tons of a toxic alcohol compound, officials said.

The incident occurred at roughly 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Of 11 total barges, 10 became loose from a tugboat; three barges became pinned to the dam, and one additional barge was pinned against a pier, the agency said.

The Army Corp of Engineers said it recovered the barge pinned against the pier by noon Tuesday. It wrote in a statement that the remaining six barges were recovered, adding that the dam's locks will remain closed until the "barges on the dam are stabilized."

The Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet said in a tweet that the barge carrying methanol is partially submerged at the McAlpine Locks and Dam in Louisville, Kentucky. The incident prompted Louisville Fire to deploy hazmat monitoring to the dam, according to a Louisville Metro Emergency Services representative.

"The barge companies are marshaling significant resources in response to the incident and will assess the situation and determine next steps," the representative wrote. "In the meantime, Louisville Fire has deployed Haz-Mat monitoring and LMPD and LFD are surveying the area until the private company arrives on scene."

The closest water intake on the Ohio River from the affected dam is in Henderson, Kentucky -- more than 100 miles away from Louisville, according to the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet.

"There is no impact to Louisville Water's water intake or water quality," the utility company wrote in a tweet. "Your water is safe to drink."

No one was injured in the incident.

Accumulations of methanol vapors in confined spaces can be explosive if ignited, according to the National Institutes of Health.

Have I missed anything? So far, I haven't said anything that you haven't read on any site worth its pixels. Here's the thinking that went outside the box. The planners weren't American, because of Greenwich Mean Time.

The appearance of Flight 93 at the site of WTC7 fell through, but the planners quickly regained their wits, and set up their back-up plan. WTC7 was ALWAYS meant to go belly-up, considering the hardware that had to be removed from sight. Barry Jennings was also a loose cannon who had to be liquidated. So, plans were set to "pull" WTC7 later in the day, after everything seemed to be at its end. So the script set forward, "WTC7 to go at 4:20 PM". I thought about this for a while. 4:20 is a reference to marijuana, and being able to align the reference to marijuana to a catastrophic event such as a building collapse would fuck with the brains of stoners from here until time immemorial.

Sheer luck screwed that up for them; that, and someone whom couldn't correctly translate GMT into Eastern without using two hands, their feet and a calculator.

As the New York Times reported at the time, the five men were caught in the wide net thrown by American law enforcement officials, eager to be seen to be taking action after the actions of 9/11.
A report by the FBI cleared their names later that month. A field report published a few weeks later stated: “Both the Newark and the New York Divisions conducted a thorough investigation which determined that none of the Israelis had any information on prior knowledge regarding the bombing of the World Trade Center. Furthermore, Newark and New York determined that none of the Israelis were actively engaged in clandestine intelligence activities in the United States.”

The post, which was viewed by over 17,400 people at the time of writing, comprises of a video taken at a supermarket by an unidentified individual. The individual uses the camera to zoom in on the ingredients of a packet of Kinder Schoko-Bons chocolates.

The information on the packet of chocolates is written in German, and the individual points out that ‘Schellack’ is one of the ingredients. The video cuts to a web search of ‘Shellack’, with results showing images of an insect.

Together with animated overlay of crawling insects over the video, the caption reads, ‘There’s bugs in your chocolate’.

A Creeping Realisation
We translated ‘Schellack’ into English and found that it referred to shellac, a refined substance made from the secretion of the Kerria lacca insect. It is usually found in the forests of India and Southeast Asia, has been harvested for millenia, and has multiple uses.

Shellac helps to add shine to an object’s exterior and limit contact to moisture and oxygen. It is often used in cosmetics such as nail polish and hair styling products, in woodworking, and as a coating for food, including for candy, fresh fruit and medicine pills. Shellac is often listed as an ingredient under the name ‘confectioner’s glaze’, and can help to prolong the life of food items.

While this means that shiny food items often contain the insect-derived shellac, this is not a universal rule. The animal rights organisation PETA, which opposes the use of shellac in food because ‘nearly 100,000 bugs die to produce about 1 pound of shellac flakes’, note that some candy with shiny exteriors like Gobstoppers, Tic Tac and Skittles do not use animal ingredients.

It is also untrue that the use of shellac in confectionery means adding entire insects to candies. While a large number of insects die during the harvesting process, these are screened out during manufacturing. As a result, insects are more likely to end up in a candy bar if it has been sitting on a store shelf for a long time, rather than during the manufacturing process.

The Unvarnished Truth
Looking up Kinder products in particular, we found that shellac was listed as an ingredient for Schoko-Bons on Kinder’s UK website, as well as for Choco-Bons, the Australian version.

Kinder’s Singapore website did not indicate the product availability of Schoko-Bons or Choco-Bons here. Other popular locally available Kinder products such as Kinder Bueno and Kinder Joy did not include shellac in their ingredients.

Nevertheless, we found that shellac is a food additive that is permitted in Singapore and regulated by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).

While this may come as a surprise to some, it must be noted that shellac has been used in confectionery for decades without any indication of health risks to humans. Moreover, human consumption of insect-derived products is already relatively commonplace through food items such as honey and some variants of food dye.

As such, though the post is mistaken to claim that insects are an ingredient in confectionery themselves, it is true that chocolates and other candies can contain insect-derived products.

What's the claim?
A 14-second video from an address by U.S. President Joe Biden is circulating on social media with the claims insinuating that the American leader admitted to using directed energy weapons or DEWs during recent wildfires. In the video, Biden is heard saying, "If you fly over these areas that are burned to the ground, you'll see, in the midst of 20 homes that are just totally destroyed, one home sitting there because it had the right roof on it."
A user on Facebook shared the video with the caption, "What we have here is Biden admitting DEWs (Direct Energy Weapons) don't affect roofs that are blue. I swear it's like we're being punked or better yet in a Twilight Zone like I've said forever (sic)." Archived versions of the post and similar ones can be viewed here and here.
This narrative is also viral on social media platforms like TikTok and X (formerly Twitter). Archived versions of the posts can be accessed here and here.
Several users have also linked Biden's speech to the recent wildfires in Texas. They have attributed the February Texas wildfires, reported to be one of the biggest disasters of the kind in the region, to DEWs based on the viral video. Such claims (archived here) follow the same trend as observed during the 2023 fires in Maui, Hawaii (spelled Hawai'i locally), when conspiracy theorists linked the tragedy to DEWs.
However, we found that President Biden's remarks have been taken out of context.
What did we find?
We traced the origin of the viral video and found that it was taken from a speech the President delivered on March 1.
Upon reviewing the extended video posted by the White House, the same day, it is evident that when Biden mentioned "roof" during his address, he was discussing improved methods for withstanding natural disasters and had mentioned nothing about DEWs.
We also accessed the full transcript of Biden's speech in question from the White House website and found that Biden was discussing "standards" and "building codes," in the context of the Texas wildfires. He did not say anything about the color blue as claimed in the viral post.
Around the 1:48 timestamp in the White House video, we can hear him saying, "Well, my administration is going to keep building on the progress we've made fighting the climate crisis. And we're going to keep — help folks rebuild themselves in the wake of these disasters. And we rebuild to the standards that are up — the up-to-date standards and building codes and the rest. Because a lot of—if you fly over these areas that are burned to the ground, you'll see, in the midst of 20 homes that are just totally destroyed, one home sitting there because it had the right roof on it."
This confirms that Biden was addressing the standard rules and building codes to withstand natural disasters such as the Texas wildfire.
The narrative that blue-colored items allegedly survive DEW-induced fires, implying that many wildfires are not accidental but caused intentionally by advanced weapons (like DEWs), has become widely popular in the past months, and the theory was also propagated during the Maui fires. Texas, particularly the Panhandle region, has been battling massive wildfires since late February 2024. According to a report by the Associated Press, the fire caused widespread devastation. It prompted evacuations in a handful of small communities, destroyed as many as 500 buildings, and killed two people and thousands of livestock.

A missing 13th amendment to the U.S. Constitution has been found which says that no lawyers should be allowed into public office

The 13th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States has been altered from its original in order to fool the American public into accepting a government that is mostly illegally in office.

The information contained in the article below contains stunning revelations that the entire U.S. congress should be deemed illegitimate, after evidence that a clandestine plot to alter the U.S. Constitution has now emerged.

In the winter of 1983, archival research expert David Dodge, and former Baltimore police investigator Tom Dunn, were searching for evidence of government corruption in public records stored in the Belfast Library on the coast of Maine.

By chance, they discovered the library’s oldest authentic copy of the Constitution of the United States (printed in 1825). Both men were stunned to see this document included a 13th Amendment that no longer appears on current copies of the Constitution. Moreover, after studying the Amendment’s language and historical context, they realized the principle intent of this “missing” 13th Amendment was to prohibit lawyers from serving in government. So began a seven year, nationwide search for the truth surrounding the most bizarre Constitutional puzzle in American history — the unlawful removal of a ratified Amendment from the Constitution of the United States.

Since 1983, Dodge and Dunn have uncovered additional copies of the Constitution with the “missing” 13th Amendment printed in at least eighteen separate publications by ten different states and territories over four decades from 1822 to 1860. In June of this year (1991), Dodge uncovered the evidence that this missing 13th Amendment had indeed been lawfully ratified by the state of Virginia and was therefore an authentic Amendment to the American Constitution. If the evidence is correct and no logical errors have been made, a 13th Amendment restricting lawyers from serving in government was ratified in 1819 and removed from the U.S. Constitution during the tumult of the Civil War. Since the Amendment was never lawfully repealed, it is still the Law today. The implications are enormous.

The story of this “missing” Amendment is complex and at times confusing because the political issues and vocabulary of the American Revolution were different from our own. However, there are essentially two issues: What does the Amendment mean? and, Was the Amendment ratified? Before we consider the issue of ratification, we should first understand the Amendment’s meaning and consequent current relevance.

MEANING of the 13th Amendment

The “missing” 13th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States reads as follows:

“If any citizen of the United States shall accept, claim, receive, or retain any title of nobility or honour, or shall without the consent of Congress, accept and retain any present, pension, office, or emolument of any kind whatever, from any emperor, king, prince, or foreign power, such person shall cease to be a citizen of the United States, and shall be incapable of holding any office of trust or profit under them, or either of them.”

At the first reading, the meaning of this 13th Amendment (also called the “title of nobility” Amendment) seems obscure; unimportant. The references to “nobility,” “honour,” “emperor,” “king,” and “prince,” lead us to dismiss this Amendment as a petty post-revolution act of spite directed against the British monarchy. The U.S. modern world of Lady Di and Prince Charles, make anti-royalist sentiments seem so archaic and quaint, that the Amendment can be ignored.

Not so. Consider some evidence of its historical significance: First, “titles of nobility” were prohibited in both Article VI of the Articles of Confederation (1777) and in Article I, Sections 9 and 10 of the Constitution of the United States (1787);

Second, although already prohibited by the Constitution, an additional “title of nobility” amendment was proposed in 1789, again in 1810, and according to Dodge, finally ratified in 1819. Clearly, the founding fathers saw such a serious threat in “titles of nobility” and “honors” that anyone receiving them would forfeit their citizenship. Since the government prohibited “titles of nobility” several times over four decades, and went through the amending process (even though “titles of nobility” were already prohibited by the Constitution), it’s obvious that the Amendment carried much more significance for our founding fathers than is readily apparent today.
