City leaders said the Hispanic Heritage Month provides an opportunity to explore the impact Latinas and Latinos have had on the United States for generations.

They said Hispanic heritage is in art, music, dancing, and the workforce.

She brought up the Meals on Wheels program again later in the meeting when council members discussed additional funding for care of animals in the animal shelter.

"Again, I bring it to your attention — no meals for the seniors, but meals for the pets," Pittman said.

Finance Committee members said that aside from the pilot program that swelled city support for Meals on Wheels, the city usually spent about $150,000 per year aiding the service. They argued they actually increased the budget for Meals on Wheels by setting it at $468,000.

Prior to deputies arriving, the suspect had caused a disturbance at a nearby beach resort before leaving on foot onto the roadway. Multiple beachgoers witnessed the situation as the suspect began yelling on the road, refusing to leave, leading to traffic blockages.

The situation escalated as deputies attempted to intervene and place the suspect under arrest. The suspect, refusing to cooperate with the deputies, resisted arrest, leading her to hit a deputy. The suspect continued resisting, yelling, and while being placed in handcuffs before kicking the same deputy in the groin. The suspect was placed into a patrol car as she continued to yell and kick the inside of the patrol car. The suspect was later transferred to a transport van for transportation to jail.

The suspect was charged with Resisting an Officer without Violence and Disorderly Conduct Intoxication.

Sigal Chattah, US Attorney for Nevada and a Trump-appointed, Israeli-born official, announced that her office will not prosecute Israeli child predator suspect Tom Artiom Alexandrovich, leaving the case in the hands of the local district attorney.

This is odd, as the other seven individuals charged in the same federal child sex sting are being prosecuted by her office.

Chattah has deactivated her X account following public backlash over the decision.
